Left is not right
by Swapan Dey on Jul 07, 2008 08:27 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

When China claimed that a part of Arunachal Pradesh is theirs, where did the Left's national interest and soverignty disappear? Why did they not utter a word of protest? Why were they silent?

Left pull out on Nuclear deal
by Ashish Ghosh on Jul 07, 2008 08:20 PM  Permalink

The decision to withdraw support by Left parties is yet again another blunder committed by them. Instead they could have bargained for some other important issues, which they would have liked to implement before forth comming LS elections. They have failed to convince masses including some of their own members the reasons to oppose the N-deal. It appears Mr.Karat & company who have not run the administration ever wanted to be in the limelight & force the issue. History will vouch that Left parties are the greatest opportunists in Indian Politics.

Can the 'Left' ever be 'Right'?
by MARTIN PALLIATH on Jul 07, 2008 08:17 PM  Permalink

The Indian left continues to carry the baggage of a decadent ideology that caused devastation wherever it was practised. They have a fixed list of enemies and friends; US is always their enemy No.1 and there can be no better friend than China. The Indian left opposes the deal with US only because it is not in the interest of China, their friend. The history of Indian left has always been a kind of opposition to country's progress. If at any time in future an armed conflict takes place between India and China, will the Indian left stand for the nation or raise funds in support of Chinese casualties?

Think before you write...

Face reality…

People who are shouting about rising prices and are blaming the government have no clue of what is happening in the world. This problem is not specific to India. This is a worldwide problem. So stop acting and jumping around like boys. Think before you open your mouth.

Crude oil is at $146 per barrel. It is 3 times more expensive that what it was a few years back. This is due to multiple factors but not limited to demand, supply uncertainty, Speculation, etc. Ethanol, which was cheered as an alternative to fossil fuel, is one of the biggest contributors towards rising prices. As the demand and hence price of corn has gone up, farmers end up making more by growing corn as compared to wheat and rice. Now what is used as feed to chicken and cattle? It is corn. Hence as the feed price has gone up, the price of chicken has also gone up.

How much do you expect the government to subsidize? And where is the government going to get that money. The government does not make money. It only collects money from us.

Now think about inflation and the nuclear deal and you will see the connection.

We need a diversified energy portfolio. Too much reliance on fossil fuel makes us susceptible to the price fluctuations that are inherent to the crude oil market.

You cannot look at inflation and our countries energy needs as two isolated challenges.

Please think. These are serious issues.

Commies withdrawing support
by Nirmal Singh on Jul 07, 2008 07:56 PM  Permalink

Commies withdrawing support has shows their real colours.

If they are so concerned regarding anything for Nuclear Deal, Inflation, mismanagement of economy and crisis in agriculture, etc. and do they have any way or means to counter these burning issues, they should take up the responsibility of handling these issues by joining the government, which they easily can and put into practice whatever they are preaching on public and TV.

Then lets see serious they are about these issues, and how effective their so-called solutions are.

And if they are so adamant in pulling the rug, let these parties pay for the holding of elections before schedule on prorata basis, i.e. if it costs 6000 Cr for holding elections for 5 years, they should pay around 1200 Cr to Election Commission for holding elections one year before schedule.

The Reds on Sansad eat their own
When Reds are a thenga shown
Brinjal scratches
And Carrot retches
When MMS tosses the “IAEA” bone!

The Reds from Bongland and Kareland are now green
Having tied their own nooses as seen
They want to themselves hang
Since they seldom care a dang
And two hoots the Indians, since the deal is not with Cheen!
