Smart SP
by AK on Jul 07, 2008 10:43 AM  Permalink

I had said in early part of June through this forum, that Congress will go ahead with the deal but will wait till the last moment for left to come on board. They were not worried about the government falling. SP was smart and they did what left should have done. SP will gain lots of mileage and Congress has finally gotten the left off its back.

Indain politics is maturing and leading to a two party system at the center. Where people decide a majority rather than a party with 28-30% vote in favour and 70-72% vote against it but still leads the country. Pre-Poll alliances are where people choose the best of the two devils.

Good...

So Congress must soon learn this art of Pre-poll alliances.... instead of fighting with all and sundry in the elections, and when the results are out, go back with their begging hat on -- and the standard tape "let's keep out BJP at all costs.." ..
:-)

A good one from you AK

NDA started the pre-poll alliances and it was good. This is how the Indian politics is maturing. Congress is finally learning. This will lead to NDA/UPA clash at the center and regional parties bargaining with the center for the best deals for the development of their respective states. This is what I call maturing. Not matured fully yet.

SP & Congress the WINNERS
by AK on Jul 07, 2008 09:06 AM  Permalink

1.      SP & Congress are the biggest winners and BSP & Left the biggest losers.
2.      BJP was opposing the deal just because they will not get the credit and they are the opposition and that means they HAVE TO OPPOSE IT with brains in pocket.
3.      Left opposed it to because they are anti-US. Their high handed rhetoric for the country and the poor have been exposed with this and Nandigram. They could have shown that they are finally working to develop the country/state.
4.      BSP opposed it at the last minute just to embarrass Congress and to become PM.
5.      Congress was looking weak for not going ahead with the deal and caving in to Left’s pressure. Now they appear to be principled in what they believe in and and for the interest of the country.
6.      SP will claim interest of the country with President Kalam’s (a muslim & BJP candidate) and Brajesh Mishra’s (National Security Advisor during BJP) endorsements to prove it.

Majority of thinking Indians want this deal to go through and finally it may.

I think you missed the point. If BJP started it then why oppose it. That is the two faced BJP. Just accept the nuclear deal and move on with politics. Just because you like BJP hurt the country. GOOD ARGUMENT.

It is Congress which prepared everything and Vajpayee didnt have to do anything, other than being using the nuclear test for his election campaign... Congress had everything ready...

But BJP by conducting the test untimely gave Pakistan their golden oppurtunity to test whatever they had in store... they were looking for an oppurtunity to test.. and they fired 12-13 i think which might have given them enough data and credibility on their technology...

Do you know the complexity of fooling the spy satellites, there was an elaborate plan of action which prepared the grounds for the nuclear test without raising doubts with the international monitoring. Do you have any idea about the preparations involved in a nuclear test, it's not that the congress had everything ready and BJP pressed the button. It is not like having dinner. The cook had everything ready and i had my dinner.
