I think we as humans cannot allow another to clean our shit. We do need mechinal divices which will help the department in doing so without any one physically coming anywhere near it. With our growing cities we have to ask our politicians to plan far ahead then they do.
Mr.Pandey was a freedom fighter. He is supposed to be from the high caste, Brahmin. When he went to Gandhiji to seek the latter's blessins in Sabarmati Ashram and enlist himself as a freedom fighter, Gandhiji allotted to Pandey the work of cleaning the latrines. Pandey has said that he gladly undertook the work without any remorse or detestation. But now who claim to be followers of Gandhiji, like the Janpath family, cannot think of undertaking such jobs! Ask Rahul and Priyanka to do the work? OOOH!
People who just want reservation for so called OBCs (though financially and politically they mey be the strongest) should rather focus on fixing the plight of these scavengers.
It is very sad to see that the situation. It is congress who ruled amny years and its is Jawharlal Nehru and her daughter who cared for downtrodden through lip sympathy and never did any developmental work throught their august government. It is a shame same congress with a foregner is ruling India, Manmohan singh shaking his tail to sonia in power!!! Do we still need this slavery rule!!! Only we Indians will have to decide.

In the so called the first world, or the developed countries as soon as the bill is passed an announcement is made , from which ate the bill will become a law, allowing sufficient time for all to be ready to abide with it. This is never more then 6 months or where the public might feel the pinch on the next budget. But taking four years fr the announcement is a joke. Then that is India Meri Jaan.
It is an irony that people with no idea about excellence are in search of excellence! Excellence could not be found in adequate numbers during long period of past decades! Is it not adequate to assess the level of excellence prevailing in our nation filled with so called luminaries with multi graduations of various not only Indian Universities but also from abroad? Indian brain once radiated with brilliance has drained now terribly due to import of largely defective western educational pattern along with their erroneous culture to only shine abroad due to a simple fact that the level of intellect abroad is comparatively very low! Oh searchers of excellence! please don't search for excellence amidst multi degree holders as it is leading to anarchy of entire nation filled with corruption! So called excellence remains silent spectator of the dying nation! as a pakistani i say narsima raow was the man for india he changed indian look, approach, market and planning!he shud be awarded by any govt not just congress!
US also has scavengers but they also have respect only the people who dont work dont have respect as well as anything to eat. In fact peopel say thanks to every cleaner because they know they are doing very important thing..Hopefully India will also have same thing but after few more decades..

also man hour rate for such works are very high...they are not regarded as lowly job. When they come to clean your house (that is if a common man can afford the service) , they ask you to sit in the lawn outside and not interfere with their work in between.
