When shall we Wake Up !!
by surajit sarkar on Jan 25, 2008 11:25 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I go through the newspaper evryday. I don't remember, his death was mentioned in any newspaper specifically with His name. It could have been like this :" ...an army colonel also died while fighting the intruders." I always wonder why our meida are not at all concerned with the Real Heroes! The news of a political leader suffering with cold or having knee pain gets published in the front page. But sacrifice of Real Leaders on the front are never highlighted. I am sure, if they focus more on the real heroes, their circulation will definitely increase, if at all they are bothered only with earning more money.

The day his death was reported in the papers, then CM of Karnataka - HDK was busy inviting Haneef to his chambers and offering him a government job - none of the ministers bothered to acknowledge the sacrifice of Col Vasanth!!

We have so much in common. Although my husband died from cancer, when my son was just one year old, it is still a live lost. he was a scientist and a professor....and I totally agree with her that it destiny. people will die when their time is up no matter what....but I am sure the girls will have a wonderful life ahead because they have a wonderful mother.

Inspirational, to say the least!
by Sankara Raman on Jan 25, 2008 11:12 AM  Permalink

Madam,

Hats off to your attitude. It would have been so easy to play the blame game as you have pointed it out. But then, you have taken this loss and all I have to tell you is that your husband would be proud of you (if he reads this!). Will pray to the almighty that God gives you courage in future too, so that your daughters too grow up imbibing the right spirit, character and values that you and your husband embody. His soul would definitely be resting in peace ... Well, thanks to Prem (am a big fan of your style) to let the story the way it should be - from the heart ...

Great wife of a GREAT MAN
by Sreedhara KS on Jan 25, 2008 10:58 AM  Permalink

It was a great nerration. Smt. Subhashini has a clear focus and courage to accept the truth. Unlike many others, she is not blaming anybody. New papers also should publish this as internet has a limited access. I think this will encourage more and more people to join defence forces. Many vacant seats in IMA is dangerous situation. I have decided to educate youngsters on joining armed forces. Thanks Mrs.Subhashini, thanks rediff.

Moments from a martyr's life
by ravi shanker behl on Jan 25, 2008 10:21 AM  Permalink

THEY PROTECT ME WITH THREIR LIVES. GREAT SOULS.ARE WE PAYING THEM THEIR DUES.EVERY PERSON TRIES TO CHEAT THEM, WHETHER ITS TAXI WALA OR SHOP KEEPER CHARGING THEM. ARMY ALSO NOT REIMBURSING THEIR EXPENSES TO FULL. ON EVERY TRANSFER THEY HAVE TO SHELL OUT GOOD AMOUNT FROM THEIR POCKETS. I SAY THIS BECAUSE I AM FATHER OF AN ARMY OFFICER.HE SPEND 1000/- FOR CARTING HIS LUGGAGE FROM RESIDENCE TO STATION ON TRANSFER. THIS MONEY NOT REIMBURSED AS PER THEIR RULES.WHENEVER HE TRAVELS HE DO NOT GET MOST OF THE TIME RESERVATIONS IN TRAIN. MOST OF THE TIME HE PAYS MONEY FROM HIS OWN POCKET FOR TRAVEL. THEY ARE NEITHER TREATED WELL BY GENERAL PUBLIC AND GOVERMENT BEAUROCRATES.THEIR WAGES ALL ALSO NOT COMMUNSURATE WITH THE HARD LIVES THEY LIVE.STILL THEY LOVE THEIR WORK AND THEIR DUTY.

Jai Hind
by Mr Nair on Jan 25, 2008 10:14 AM  Permalink

It is a good attempt by the Rediff News to bring about the the story of real sons of our country- first it was Capt. Harshan, now Col. Vasant. Our so called media, whether it is visual or news papers are running behind the share market crash and cricket, and they pay little attention to these heroes who have sacrified their life to protect our nation. Here also, we see the less number of messages show how our people turn their faces to such news. These heroes also have a family, and they were also human beings and they ended their valuable life for our country. They should be honoured properly. It is because of such heroes and thousands of jawans who are safe guarding the boundaries of our country, we are able to live happily. After reading through the whole article, with proud we pay rich tributes in tears to these heroes who have sacrificed their lives for our country. We all join their families in their sorrow and pray to God to give them enough strength to face the reality. Government should also protect the dependents of their families. JAI HIND.

INDIAN POLITICS IS GOING AHEAD TOWARDS CAPITALIST NOT SOCIALIST
by Sanjay Mishra on Jan 25, 2008 10:13 AM  Permalink

AS OUR FIRST PRIME MINISTER TOLD THAT INDIA WOULD BE EMERGED AS A SOCIALIST COUNTRY WHERE EVERY COMMON MAN COULD FEEL EASIER BUT AFTER 50 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE EVERY COMMON MAN SAFFOGATED BY RISE OF CONSUMER GOODS AND TRAILING BY FINANCIAL PROBLEMS , LIFE IS GOING TO BE UNSECURE SPECIALY IN PRIVATE SECTOR . EVERY INDUSTRIALIST WANTS TO HIRE ON MINIMUM TO MINIMUM SALARY AND BETTER WORK PERFORMENCE ON THE OTHER HAND GOVT. ALWAYS SAYS TO PEOPLE THAT INDIA IS GROWING DAY BY DAY . ONE THING TO BE NOTED THAT EMPLOYMENT OR LIVING IS NOT A PROBLEM THE PROBLEM IS HOW TO SURVIVE LIFE IN BETTER WAY WHAT IS BEYOND A COMMON MAN . IN THE COMING TIME IF GOVT. WILL UNABLE TO SECURE COMMON MAN'S LIFE THIS WOULD BE THE BIG CHALLANGE FOR THE GOVT.EVERYTING DEPENDS UPON THE FINANCIAL CAPACITY OF THE COMMON MAN BUT HERE MORE THAN 70 % PEOPLE OF THE COUNTRY HAS NO POWER TO PURCHASE BECAUSE THEY ARE HAND TO MOUTH AND THEY ARE SURVIVING HIS LIFE BY HOOK OR BY CROOK . SO THE GOVT SHOULD TRY TO CONCENTRATE ON PRIVATE SECTOR WHERE THE LARGEST NUMBER OF PEOPLE IS ENGAGED AND SURVIVING HIS LIFE IN ANY WAY. A COMMON MAN CAN SAY PRACTICAL ASPECT OF MARKET BUT THE GOVT ONLY SAY ON THE BASIS OF RECORDS. REAL SCENE IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT FROM RECORD. IF THE PEOPLE OF INDIA SHINE , INDIA AUTOMATICALLY SHINE AND PEOPLE MEANS 70% OF THE POPULATION WHO IS HAND TO MOUNTH AND HAVE NO PURCHASING POWER. SO THE GOVT SHOULD STRESS ON THIS TYPE OF MATTER NOT ON ANY OTHER THING.I THINK THIS IS THE BETTER WAY TO PUT OUR MAT
