Mr. Shaikh, most people on these forum won't but that is not the point. If the yardstick is each others intolerance - i.e. you should be intolerant because they are also intolerant - then you end up with a race to the bottom - and a Saudi Arabia like medieval society where there is no freedom of speech. So yes you have a point - some of the people on this forum would react differently to MF Hussain just as you are reacting very differently to Taslima - the correct thing would be for the government to protect both Husain and Taslima because India believes in Freedom of Speech and not to be intimidated by Hindu or Islamic fundamentalists. Sadly the congress government is too spineless to do that.

M.F.Hussain was appreciated by Indian government and Mostly by Hindus. Muslims never, never support any artist who make nude pictures who ever it may be. Lastly I will say if he did wrong he should be booked under the law and punished. Whoever says that Muslims or Islam permits such action is a fool. Go and read about Islam and its teaching.

The point is not about what Islam permits or what Hinduism permits. Indian law and constitution comes first. And they permit freedom of speech. Period. Therefore both Hussain and Taslima should be protected from fundamentalists. Similarly everyone should have full freedom to protest against their offensive work - as long as it is peaceful and doesn't violate the law

Have they got the guts to include Salman Rushdie and/or Taslima Nasreen for Bharat Ratna in their ulterior SMS poll ? Nobody should stoop so low in their attitude towards Hindus. As is expected the Congress has condemned the incident. It is they, it seems, behind such attitude against Hindus. Have they not filed an affidavit (since withdrawn after a hue and cry from hindus) stating that Lord Rama and Ramayana are myths. These are the extension of such crude attempts by the so called secular fundamentalists in maligining Hinduism and Hindus. I have doubt that Hindus are singled out for this kind of onslaught because they may be paid for by outside agencies who want hinduism and hindus be wiped out from India. Hindus should be wary of such secular fundamentalists.

More nonsense - Rushdie is not Indian; stupid to nominate him for a Bharat Ratna. Taslima is Bangladeshi - how can she be a bharat ratna? Hussein is Indian - he is internationally renowned whether you like it or not. And much as you are scandalised by his pictures, there is a long tradition of nudity in art. I mean have you ever walked into an art museum? Medieval art is filled with nude images of the Virgin Mary and other angels. It is only the paranoid imagination of the hindutva brigade which sees Hussain's work as a conspiracy against Hindutva; rather than as a simple extension of a long running tradition within art. If his name was Ram Shankar Prasad, I doubt there would have been any protest at his paintings.

Shut up and please talk sense. Nobody can throw out anybody in reality. I'd rather have one identity as Indians and bridge the gap b/w communities. Infact this is easier than talking genocide.
Of course only people who are dividing the country should be acted upon irrespective of their religion. NDTV was indulging in Hindu-baiting when, ignoring the sentiments of lakhs of Hindus, it went ahead with trying to canvass support for a pervert like M.F.Husain, who caricatured Hindu Deities in obscene manner and Bharat Mata in the nude. Neither Muslims nor Christians tolerate any denigration to their religion, and the foreign-funded media and politicians pander to their sentiments, whereas they deliberately trample upon Hindu sentiments.These channels should be asked to wind up, if they want to continue provoking Hindus.
