can understand from various posts that most people out here condemning kolkata unnecessarily are politically motivated. ruling party out here extend some crucial support at govt. formation at delhi. these people are concerned about that fact and therefore giving vent to their frustration by scribbling irrelevant and derogatory messages about one of the greatest place on earth (3 nobel prize winners, 1 oscar winner ....). Their comments are not at all out of concern for bengal. as a apolitical person i appeal not to portray bad image of kolkata unnecessarily. if you say kolkata is bad then whole of india is bad

How about sacking Mumbai from the metro city rank for the flood that paralysed life in the city for a full week, a result of inept sewage system in the city? Or for that purpose, why not scrap Delhi from the list for being the most polluted city in the world?

my dear friend incidents like this fire will not happen ever in Mumbai or Delhi. If at all the fire breaks out it will be controlled. Because their is no unionism here. The fire fighters will work hard day and night. Not like in Kolkata where at 5 pm they will stop working.
My sympathy to the people for Burrabazar. Its really surprising that the leaders of the ruling CPM were holdng a rally of their party causing traffic jams and undue hardships to the suffering people. What happend on the 13th of January at the Maidan is a repeat of "Nero's fiddling when Rome was burning". At least now, let the people of the State wake up to the fact that the CPM and its allies are just not bothered about the welfare of the people. They prefer the people of the state to be economically weak so that by doling our charity they can remain in power and make money for themselves. The party's only aim is to shamelessly stick to the Congress, once their sworn enemy, since they would never get another oppurtunity to wield so much power in Parliament. They have made West Bengal, a State of wonderful people, impoverished and destroyed the industrial growth durin the last 50 or so years, by theie useless unions and leaders.

I appreciate your feelings friend. Unfortunately unless the level of education improves amongst the public, nothing can be achieved. That is why all the political parties are working hard to keep the people uneducated.
i think a new world record is set.. a building fire can't be put out even after 2 days or more now... whatever be the reason... there are thousands of such buildings n markets in all cities... jab tak kuch nahi hota hai.. life goes on blindly.. n even after this .. it will still go on ... the same way.

BUPC ( Bhumi Ucched Protirodh Committee) along with Mamata is working day and night to put off the fire. Mamata is running (24 X 7) with a water filled bucket in her hand from the Hugli river to Burrabazar to put off the fire. So there is no need of CPIM Cadres to do it.

bro...remeber one thing Mamata is Miss Undependable. She changes her mind every now and then. She did quit the Central Ministry twice. She even does not know whether to ally with Congress or the BJPs. She is at a loss. She is among the confused lot. She is sick and not anyone else.

We can't really blame the Government of West Bengal. After all, it is being run by HEADLESS CHICKENS, you see. Perhaps, they are awaiting instructions from their master, the Chinese!!!

This is not the first and the last case many more are in pipeline to happen and if Government don't take strict action against them like happened in new delhi(Sealing) then just wait and watch as we are doing now, come on people learn from this we dont have a space to even walk thank god that the fire happened at night otherwise you would have been counting the death toll now which would run certainly in 1000's and have no sympathy for traders they are to blame for this they earn a lot but will never think of modernsing their place or make it bettre to live on. Just Enjoy as roads are closed so a undeclared holiday.
Some 40 years ago, a smilar fire broke in the New Market in Chowringhee.
Whatsoever precautions are taken, fire is something that catches unawares. Authorities should take particular care to monitor safety measures regularly, especially where inflammable materials like diesel, petrol, etc. are stored. I hope and pray that Fire Brigades are able to extinguish the fire quickly.

They are busy in organising rally so that fire tenders have difficult time in reaching there. But certainly they will open their gutter after few days to show soliditary for the worker who will loose their jobs there.
It shows that our Administration is not equiped with fighting a fire at big cities. What will be the fate of big cities in case of a natural calamities . How they will fight it out when they are not able to fight a fire that errupted in a building. Shortage of water is the reasin then please ask the kolkatans to urinate in a tank. Shame on the part of government if the corrupt administration goes like this. We Poor Indians.
NOW BUDDHA HAS TO ANSWER AS TO WHY THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THE FIRST PLACE .THE MAYOR HAS CONFIRMED THAT MOST OF THE BUILDINGS THAT WAS AFFECTED WAS ILLEGALLY CONSTRUCTED. WHY NO ACTION WAS TAKEN
COME ON BUDDHA SHOW THE SAME INTENSITY AND EFFECTIVENESS AS YOU HAVE SHOWN IN NANDIGRAM.ASK YOUR PARTY CADRES TO PUT OFF THE FIRE
