I basically think Judges can not pass their thought as judgement with out getting inputs from the people after all I guess we live in a democratic country and people opinions should matter in such matters.
To one of the person who had title ".. rural morons ...." Jalikattu is symbol of strength and cows are subjected to any pain while taming them.
Jalikattu is also a popular sport in latin american countries and thank god they don't have judges similar to ours.
Its an act of extreme cruelty towards animals./ In the name of god, they give a slow painful death to animals, and do not spare a week old lamb. How could god like such cruelty towards its own creation? I think its a start and with Bull fight, even practice of halal should be abolished.
Hinduism had various such orthodox poractices in past but in modern era, all of them have been abolished. I wonder how this still remains and am surprised to see my fellow hindus supporting it just becos they want to prove gov.t biased approach to muslim community. Hinduism doesnt promote hurting animals and if you are a true hindu, support kindness to animals rather than old 'cultural' practices.

Tell me one hindu scripture which calls for a bull fight , this is nothing to do woth hinduism, these are just practices of the dark ages.
bull fight is not a religious issue, if it were, hinduism has always believed in reform unlike our islamic brothers. thats the reason we are civilized. our villagers require education and some bit of sophistication otherwise we cannot survive as a democracy. how can someone enjoy pain being inflicted on bulls, if you do you are no better than animals.

@ Ruzo
you are a moron. Religion does come in this. As this kind of activities are cultural. While lots of Temples abandoned sacrificing animals, our Govt or supreme court cannot rule `against Bakri iid. Because it will lose vote bank. Everybody should be treated the same.

Moron, why bring a religious twist to this? Why can't you guys leave Religion out of anything? This was an order by the Supreme Court, not by any government, infact if you read the article you will realize that the government is asking for the ban to be lifted , not the contrary and don't you know that Rural tamilnad also has muslims and christians and other religions as well. IMHO ,Torturing an animal is worse that killing it , Killing it for food is way different than torturing something for mere entertainment. Food is a basic need, eating plants is no less cruel than eating meat for it can be argued that plants are living things too.So comparing bull fighting with butchering animals for food is fallacious reasoning. Anytime anybody wants to do something good, there is a group of petty people like you who will argue "did the govt. stop what that religion is practising? THEY are still doing it etc." Dude, good things have to start from somehwere , so set aside pettyism and look for the common good.

The fact is this ban was sought by animal rights activists despite assurance by TN govt. that the bulls would not be harmed in any way. Therefore our animal rights activists are clearly anti-Hindu as is the TN govt. which chooses only to give assurance and supporting role rather than fight against the ban. Your argument for killing cows is nothing but ludcrious. Plants cannot feel pain the same way as cows and its certainly possible to eat vegetarian without killing the plant. That is the beauty of many indic religions like jainism and hinduism. They advocate love and compassion to animals unlike islam which encourages slaughter of both animals and non-believers.

If you say torture is worst than killing, dont you think the practise of halal should be stopped. Isnt that unnecessary torture of animals before their death? Arent you being too hypocritic?
