As an Englishman, I would be sooo happy. The hold is still one. Even the Monghols/Mughuls cannot boast such following of their Urdu/Afgani/Turkish/Arabic as there is for English.
Moghuls must be thinking, where they messed up to the English might when they ruled most of the South Asia.

Well English is a language that is foreign to India, but for all purposes it is a global language. Even the Chinese are learning it. People have issues with Hindi and other language depending on the region they belong to, so there is no alternative to English.

Hindi is nothing but mix of Urdu, Afgani, Persian, Arabia, Turkish and Prakrit. So it's half foreign for India.

NO Hindi is a pure language in it's own right and is derived from Sanskrit, a language native to India. The mix of Urdu, Afghani, Persian, Arabic etc. is HINDUSTANI. That is why that language is called Hindustani and not HINDI. Of course the common man is unaware of this and thinks what he's actually speaking daily is Hindi. And that is incorrect. What he's speaking is Hindustani. So NO, Hindi is NOT half foreign, Hindustani is. Get your facts right before posting please, as people can be mis-informed.

This is the wet dream "We are all indians first, then marathi's sindhi's, gujratis, tamilians, andhraites etc. We all speak hindi and cherish hindi as our national language." The real india is as follows "I am a reddy from Andhra, and happen to be an indian citizen. I speak telugu at home and at work I use the english language. Learning hindi for me does not make sense"

or curse word in below message. Which rediff decided to hide. 1. Changing the name from BOMBAY to Mumbai 2. Milking money when they were in power with lots of flyover contracts. 3. Making lots of money in the name of Green mumbai. e.g Micheal jackson concert. They kept all the money for themselves.

Your name,,,dingbat,,,,ask your father also same question,,,who did he loot today?
very soon we may have to apply for VISA to enter the "country" Maharashtra... no wonder this man doesnt get much support and Raj thackeray is overtaking him.... He doesnt seem to understand that destroying shops selling Valentines gifts and chasing away couples from Marine will not ensure protection of culture... police cant be blamed for this incident... govt cant be blamed... who else has to be blamed??????... he is not even ashamed to come up with such dumbheaded statements...
hanks god..none of this foolish with stupid regional sentiments were there during freedom struggle against British Raj, else they(Britain) would have celebrated 260 years last August. What these guys talking below...was the situation 260 years back...when British people started ruling us. And yes, if any paki is reading this..as generally they do, you are also part of same.
INDIA is great and all the states will surely develop in time to come, situation is already improving in northern states, and will develop in north east too. By the way in a family brothers and sisters fight and argue but they do not let things get out of hand, similarly we all should fight, but it is by no means a fight to finish or something like that. In the post Uddhav said nothing specifically about bhaiyyas or any particular community, it was general comment which meant that people from small cities come to Mumbai and the freedom and the anonymity this city gives them lets them indulge in such acts without any compunction. I am sure the people who did this would not behave like this under normal circumstances. Of course what they did was wrong and will be punished for it. Any way Chuk de India, Chuk de North India, Chuck de South India, Chuck de East India, Chuck de West India, Chuck de Central India. Let us make India Great, and let us create an India such that people from US, UK, Japan, Australia and so will all want to become Indian citizens, then we can have a friendly fight with them also. When the world is becoming a global village why limit yourself to arguments within India alone. We are all afterall putting our shoulders to push the country further and higher, and to realize a developed India in our life times right. So let us work to achieve that goal, and thereafter to keep India at the forefront, to create an India where every one is INDIAN and INDIAN only

Indian will NEVER be united; be it in India or abroad we always had and will always have a "Region" based mentality and thinking. As we all suffer from superlative complex and even in region we have sub divide in caste ....example ...regions of Andra Pradesh or Sub Caste among "Patels" temples of specific sub caste, samaj of each sub caste no outsider is invited ......
U must be day dreaming that we will be united....with each passing year the divide will widen

I hope not, we all are Indians and stand for india but the problem is we are maharashtrians, north indians, gujratis, south indians first and then Indians, where as it should be vice versa

literal meaning is ppl residing on ghats...but used as slang to refer maharashtrians...same as lungi for south indians, gujjargand for gujratis, bangladeshi for bengali etc

VERY Accurate argument. Shiv sena leaders come to Tamasha dances in various places. Shiv sena supported ladies bars in Mumbai. Ghattis are no better than gujjus. Just that they smell a little bit less.
I think in a free Country like our India, there should not be any restriction on people from one state to come to another and live there. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a pucca deshdrohi. However, the severity of migration can be mitigated by de-centralization of economic zones. Respective State governments should develop their own territory and provide good work & education opportunities. No one will migrate then.

You make sense. UP, Bihar and other backward states must be made accountable.
