Raj Mumbai is going on Tamil Nadu way...

Raj Mumbai is going on Tamil Nadu way...
Maharastra should learn from Tamil Nadu past.

Now Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh become top IT exporting states of South India.

M Karunanidhi CM of Tamil Nadu, India
Started his career with Anti-Hindi agitations and built on many years anti-North Indian agitations picketing shops run by North Indian merchants and tarring over Hindi names on public billboards.

Now because of Karunanidhi policies Tamil Nadu which was one the leading state in south India few decades back is now far behind with other south Indian states.
Now Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh become top IT exporting states of South India.

Raj Thakre is a narrow minded person.
This is a time of Globalization whole Maharastra will suffer because of Raj.
Raj has no objection in sending Marastrians to overseas countries but have objection if other states people work in Maharastra.
More then 30 millions INDIANS NRI's out of which 5 millions are Maharashtras Indians(NRI's) working in overseas countries.

Gokhale for your question.. first y v need to know hindi in TN yar... hav u checked the literacy rate of India and Tamil nadu ... still there r lot more ppl who dont know to read or speak their own lang.. then how come u think its possible to learn another lang....first lets concentrate on increasing the literacy rate.. then v can think of learning an new lang ... jus imagine the other way round .. as majority of indian ppl speak hindi & lang similiar to hindi.. hindi was made an official lang...if suppose tamil(a classical lang most spoken in india) was made our official lang do u ppl agree or do u think ppl in ur state wil speak that lang.. dont jus think oneside... in TN v hav ppl from all states how they live...its the friendly nature of local ppl which paves the way...

learning a language or not is a personal thing.. In this Free india dont the Tamilians have even this freedom. nobody can force Tamilians to learn a language..

U can't compare whats going on in Mumbai to TN... In Mumbai Marathi plp know hindi but targeting hindi plp. In TN nobody knows hindi.. but no other language people are targeted by any way.. You decide which one u want..

Rajji has done the right thing. But even if people of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka do not speak your so called National Language(they have not accepted this language to be national language) they are self sufficient.Without the support of their MPs, the Union Government will fall any moment. Tamil Nadu has got biggest IT complex. Bangalore the Silicon valley. Kerala every house hold has a person abroad and 100% literacy. Let any other states boast any of these highlights. Oh yes they can claim.. atleast 10 children in every marriage. Atleast one tadipar in every family with the same surname. atleast 3-4 criminal cases againainst every leader..Every leader has extra martial affairs. the list is long. So don't talk about the fluency of the Hindi language.

Root of the Problem
by Singha on Feb 16, 2008 07:28 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

There are three dangers to Indian nationhood - people who would love to see India dismember:

(a) Islamism - muslims are still continuing their not so forgotten 1000 year jehad to take over India
(b) Christianism - congress since nehru days is representing these forces. Sonia congress has a higher commitment to Church.
(c) Communism - Leftists and Chinese have a vested interest to keep India down.

These forces have contrived to prevent Hindus from uniting by leveraging caste divisions.

We have to change our consitution to defang islamism/christianism/casteism/linguisticism.

Raj Thakeray is playing the Congress game to split the Hindu marathi votes in Maharashtra before the next elections. That is the reason, he has not been arrested despite his acts being as anti national as afzal's. Publically congress and MNS will abuse each other while being in cahoots in private.

We know the congress track record supporting bindrawale to spite Akalis.

THE ORIGINAL SIN LIKE IN MOST PROBLEMS WE ARE FACING WAS COMMITTED BY NEHRU. There was no need to create linguistic states. In erstwhile bombay presidency, people speaking, hindi, marathi, gujarathi, kannada and Konkani got along fine. In addition to the religious fault line and caste faultline, nehruvian congress foolishly added language fault line.

Solution - split the states into counties or organise states on zonal basis. Cities like Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata must be made UTs.

I would like to clarify more. A facade of Raj Thakeray being arrested was presented to the gullible public while the charlatan got home the same day.

Since Shivsena and BJP was against him, it was possible to convict him on charges of anti national behavior.

Linguistic states idea is not wrong. That gives rise to the idea of clarity. We're bound as a Nation by our common root language / culture (along with recent additions to it) - so, linguistic states is never a fault-line.

The fault is the unwarrented migrations of people (often rich and powerful) to more vulnerable regions (often poor and interior regions) - and their unstoppable and uncontrolled exploitation. Probably that is the reason why J&K has special provisions, but I wish all other states also have such protective provisions (if not already there), and their enforcement.

Forget our Biases
by IndiaWiNS ALL on Feb 16, 2008 04:29 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I too am filled with biases. But,we need to overcome these feelings.

Today,we say India is growing, and we feel roud of India. But,how come these regional biases exist,is a sheer matter of curiosity.

I know no morals can be taught. But,we need to realize that we need to change.

I feel Indians need to globalize more, not just in the clothes that we wear, but also n thinking.

Sorry, but the people who have started to believe in regional superiority, must be told that they have no place in modern India.

These very people would be gladenned to go to Europe,n love it when a foreigner comes visiting (esp. if he is fair skinned),but would hate when a darker skinned Indian, seeks to come in their state.

God,I wonder,when will Indians stop being racist,regionalist,religionist.....

I love my mother,my mother nation!

I dont love my region, cause I am an Indian first.

If for me my nation is the sky, like my mother, then my region is the ground.

For heavensake, lets all start changing ourselves.

This Maharashtra incident is a big eye opener of a reality today.

This problem must be crushed,by our belief...

"Hum sub EK Hain, and we shall fight for the freedom and soverignity of each other"

This issue is present in other states too, more so in Assam and Karnataka. Look from both sides and come up with solutions. Show the willingness to understand. Criticizing or crushing will never yield results, we will only escape from reality.

We shall overcome Someday
by IndiaWiNS ALL on Feb 16, 2008 04:12 AM  Permalink

Do you remember the saying...

"We shall Overcome,We shall Overcome Someday,
O deep in my heart,We do believe

We shall Overcome Someday"

Believe that,we shall overcome all biases in the society.

Today, the educated mass in India is fighting to make money.

India has lost all ideological basis. We have become a remnant of a proud civilization.
We are proud of having being great, a country of great ideology.

But,today in India,we hardly can see a person with high ideology.

The common man hardly respects any of its leaders. The fact remains that he himself is a disrespectfull character.

Indians comming abroad would hardly litter, but would fail to pick a single paper on the road in his on street in India.

This is the Indian character.Low esteemed internally, but boasts heavily of himself.

Also,Indians are full of regional bias.

I would like to ask how many really look into the beauty of other states culture, before praising ones own

Fight for India, fight for each other!
by IndiaWiNS ALL on Feb 16, 2008 04:01 AM  Permalink

Does anyone see what it means....He is saying that we really do not know what it means to be an Indian..
When an Indian stays in the country,he tries to find identity in the teeming masses.
He tries to find who am I.In his quest of his own identity,he grabs the collar of either religion, state or other close objects.

The same goes for people living abroad. They too try to gather the Indian identity, among the teaming other colored skins.

And surprisingly,Indians,Pakis and Bangs are the best of friends out of their native countries, just to identify the commonalities of skin.

But let me tell you,it woks not only for the brown skin but also for the fair and the darker.

But my point is,yes,it is true.Identity is important.
But to disrespect others is a tarnish on your identity too

We as new generation have to think. All real thinkers today have died.

Our nation needs thinkers, believers who shall take us out of this regional, religional bias.

Even if you cant be leaders, try to respect each others differneces.Dont teach your children to hate;teach to love.

The world envys us,cause they dont have tolerance for others.Dont lose it.India haters will love if India loses.

Jai Hind

tarun vijay always makes for strange reading. it is as if he lives in mushayara culture where you run away from reality and live in a strange incongruent make-believe world. if that is kept in mind, the only thing wrong with this articel, then, would be that it is not writeen in urdu.

Thaali, not Melting Pot
by Girish on Feb 16, 2008 02:17 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Please try to analyze from their angle too. Indian culture can survive only when each state is able to retain its unique culture. We should seek to preserve diversity, not destroy. As Shashi Tharoor says, India is like a THAALI, not a MELTING POT. The RSS should not shut its eyes to a real issue that exists in every state. Their strong arm tactics apart, the MNS thinking pervades all over India and even outside. By criticizng it, we are refusing to look deeper into what constitutes India.

Marathis and Indians later- Can we be Humans first.
by on Feb 16, 2008 12:48 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Deeply moved by the happenings of Mumbai , and shrugging in disbelief over the power of muscle over reason, and the power of cacophony over debate, I found myself asking if We were being humans at all yet.

What is this stuff about pride of being an Indian or a Kannadiga or an Italian or an american? Have we even evolved yet,if we cant resort to meaningful, but dignified debate to resolve differences we have with our neighbour who hails from a different region of our country?

Pride of being an Indian? This sounds like the deaf man who was proud of the way he sings!!
