Your suggestion is nice but please consider my point. Indian software companies are like small contractors doing manipulation jobs to feed third grade IT industry of the world.
Though name is big IT, but none of these companies engaged in developing global software like Mathematica or origin or VNL. Then what do they do, its like call centers job. Some low profile wastage jobs.
Therefore companies have no choice but to sqeeze the workers, they dont required creativity, they need labors. Truely most IT professionals are like railway coolies with T-shirt and jeans, salary is not everything.
If a quality man is not allowed to create anything, bio-construction of our brain is such that it moves towards collapse. Those IT people who are itself fourth graded they wont have any problem, or if they are given a creative job which is very limited.
Therefore, the industry is a sick industry, unless they are engaged in developing commercial worldwide usable package, the environment wont change, solving software problem in swiss automatic train, or company network building package wont ever change the situation.
I wonder why IT companies change direction, once they start developing new packages for their own business, profit will be orders high, and company will be forced to let labors relax so that they become more creative.
Dont you people agree that the problem should be seen like this way?

let me get this straight. Do you even know what India is contributing in IT space or are you one of those who think IT is just BPO and Call center and indians are cheap labor?
FYI, India is massive in BPO and Call center industry but it is equally big in contributing to global software development, be in the form of R&D or OEM for another vendor.
The point is not that IT Industry is a sick industry but it is the people who have desires and are greedy for a quick buck. Why do you think that IT professionals keep jumping from one job to another in a matter of months. It is the quick jump and extra money which drives that.
Add to it the social status and the lavish life they want to lead, which they would have heard of people in the US. This brings in loans from banks (ever thought how a 25 year old relatively fresh grad. can even think of buying a house worth 30 - 40Lacs)?
It is this IT industry which has given the young generation the money to spend and pick the economy but it is the greed and the desire to lead a lavish lifestyle that makes these young guns to bite more than they can chew.
Then when reality hits ground, there is all kinds of stress to keep up with the lifestyle they have created. It does nothing but to add more pressure.
We should look at the basics and teach people in school and college about greed and desire control than point finger at an industry which has helped so many people realize their fairytale.
Well agreed. Now let me add some more factors to it: Most of the people I have seen who have committed suicide or have attempeted for it have these common traits: 1. Low self-esteem. 2. High Goals. 3. Socially selective. 4. Fear for furute. 5. Dreamer. 6. Physcial Frustration. 7. Extreme Sentivity. 8. Lack of confidence. 9. Not being Action oriented. HEre I see we have a problem which is common, we do not know what we want!! we get lost in hectic lifestyle, we set goals that are far or not so feseable.....more than City Stress I see we have problem. City Stress adds to it, for sure. But its we who commit suicide so I guess we need to take steps towards making it NOT TO HAPPEN!!!......We need to take action!!........Seek guidance from Professional,Couselors, I guess MNC's should have strong team of counselors to guide Young Minds. HR plays a very important role here. When it comes to Students yes seeing so much money and so called Success to their seniors and Parents often comparing their aspirations we are the reasons......Not Bangalore and Not IT company they add very little to it.

You are true shruthi n i agree with you, but at the same time, i think these guys who try to commit sucide moght have some other problems like EMI's, love affair n other things, y don't it happens, if a IT/BPO employee is unable 2 cope up with the pressure, he can switch over 2 other way of continuing in his profession, but due to thier society concern, image in the society n commitment for EMI's , they might not able to take these steps of being a self employed n start thier own small firm, thier will b lot of reasons 4 them, but they cannot think about these things when they r under stress of FINANCIAL Problems, some body should take care of these things from thier family 4 un married n parents for married people. Can REdiff take the search of the people taking these steps r Male r Female. B'coz M will hv more responsibilities n more freedom caompare to F's in the society n FAMILY.

We are more outwardly oriented in our quest for riches, fame , security and satisfac tion. The greed for more is evident in everything we do and that is being fed on thro' our media and that's the most depressing fact . Everyone is forced to look for sucour outside and unlike earlier times the one we approach is waiting to pry on. That's the tragedy of our times . The only solution is to develop the capability to be yourself , with confidence and poise. It's about time the individual got a handle on the cure to this insatiable appetite for more and believed in higher values of self dedication to life 's bigger goals , that which satisfies our inner being.
It is true that the work and life pressure in Bangalore makes you very stressed. I have experienced it myself till I worked out a plan for myself. Exercise, yoga etc. helped a lot. I met a very good yoga trainer in Bangalore and he helped me to get out of the mess. His mob. no. is 9449342879. His name is Shri B. K. Pai and is a very competent Yoga and Ayurveda expert. Now I have relocated to Mumbai and is not able to get such a teacher here so far.
Indians youth is going fast towards their earlier death. FAST FOOD CULTURE, WORKING HOURS, life style and demand at work will not leave youth at anywhere

dekho bhai It is always survival of the fittest. When you join any IT company you should know what it takes to survive there. Long hours, stress, deadlines are all part of the game. So if you crib about the %u201Cwork culture%u201D, you better get out of it and do some other job, but no you want money also, so you stick on and keep complaining. Just imagine if your favourite cricketer starts complaining that he cannot handle the pressure on the field so he cannot perform, will you accept his reasoning ?? probably not, because he is expected to handle the pressure and perform every time. Same is with any job. Be mentally strong, life is not for a weak.

Hello, The reply you made is nothing but a stupid explanation. Every one in the world works and all maintains gaps between their family and work. 8 hours work thats it. let it be 10 hours for us. But few junk guys for thier wish started staying and it became an usual thing. Off course you cannot blame a company for that. It is upto anyone to keep you busy with both the family and work. You shud be strong enough and with strong determination to answer the questions from your supervisiors.
Staying late(even when there is no work) is not a survival of fittest it is just a cheating.
When i say staying late it means hectic work pressure also.
Only in IT sectors this practice is there. All others sectors are now getting spoiled after they see us(IT peoples).

most of them come to office by 11:30 and go around the office it will be 12:00 then go for tea and cigg 12:30 and then come chat with other in office and showing face it ur TL that u have come today.... check all the mail in ur inbox it will be 1:30... then lunch time!!!!! by the time u return it will be 3:00... after that u start ur work it will be 4 then tea.... when u come back from tea... the business time is already over... so the guy who comes later and not serious without planning will leave late... and its got nothing to do with suicide, and this is how most of the ITes prefer being in their organization, piling their work and when it goes beyond ur neck thats where the trouble starts...but in a BPO environment there is no breather.. u exactly work for nine hours a day n thats enough to choke u to death
To Get relief from street is be cool mind and work for limited for day, and the government should take action on company to have limited work for employees in city
TYPICAL INDIAN STRESS IS 'I WANT TO BE LIKE THE NEXT DOOR PERSON'....THEN U STOP LIVING FOR UR OWN SELF AND START TO STRESS URSELF TRYING TO BE MR SOMEBODY...PARENTS ALWAYS TELL THEIR KIDS..RAHUL IS BETTER THAN U..TRY TO BE LIKE HIM...POOR FELLOW BEGINS TO APE RAHUL...THIS IS THE PROBLEMS MOST INDIANS HAVE...MY WIFE WANTS TO DRESS UP LIKE MR THOMAS WIFE...I SIMPLY SAID THE SAREE LOOKS GOOD ON HER..BUT IT WILL LOOK HORRIBLE ON U..SO BE URSELF FIND THINGS WHICH MAKE U LOOK BETTER AND MORE COMFORTABLE RATHER THAN TO APE SOMEONE AND FINALLY DRAIN ALL UR RESOURCES....SIMPLY TOLD U CANNOT AND SHOULD NEVER TRY TO APE OR THINK LIKE MR.x...BE URSELF AND GET CONTENTED LOOKING AT UR SELF AND UR OWN SELF IN THE MIRROR..BE HAPPY..LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO FOOL AROUND WEARING WIGS AND DISGUISES..FIND UR OWNSELF AND FIND UR OWN HAPPINESS..BE URSELF...GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY LIVING..GOD BLESS

Seriously friend. We always want to ape somebody who is performing. Our society has formulated all these so called social status, money etc. This system has brought a mess everywhere. people talk about 'survival of the fittest' not realising the context in which Darwin might have propounded.Survival of the fittest doesnt mean you get everybodys neck and outbeat. Our Indian system of making social discrimination based on terms of money, success, fame has created a very high stress levels for ourselves. We neednot join the 'Jones' and its better not join these stereo typed mentality and enjoy and continue doing things that we like doing most.
