Dear Raymond, God Bless you. You are still living, I am sorry - sleeping, in 18th century. Please wake up and think beyond religions. Think of living world, think of contribution to world, think beyond youreself and think of Art of Living. For your information, Hinduism is not a religion. It's a philosphy. It exists in all human beings and in everything living or non-living. You are also part of it.

Hinduism is the first religion on earth...it has 1. core & unique beliefs etc reincarnation. 2 its micro organized 3. the first organized religion to have set rituals for birth, marriage, deaths etc. 4. Hinduism is the first to organize pilgrimmages, ritualized verses and prayers 5. Hinduism is the first to be a missionary religion and spread far and wide as far as Bali and all over South Asia without wars. 6. Hinduism unlike the Semitic religions do not negate religions that come up and predate but accomodates them. The Semitic rleigions on the other hand maligns all before it..eg Jews were wrong and misguided according to Christians..Christians are corrupt and changed the word of God according to Muslims..etc...Please do NOT say Hinduism is only a way of life..its a complete religion.

You guys want the vedanti to be kikked out from WEST; but the WEST want them ,adore them want to learn from them!! But people like you are kicked off, because wise man knows whom to adore and who should be kicked off!! you guys are really like a pathetic fox which said " the grapes are sour ,since it cannot have them"!!
When there is so much dearth of morality, degeneration of culture, intolerance to equality in India, am wondering why Mr.Yogi and Mr.SriSri choose to live and preach in the US and Europe! Is India too dirty for their holiness to live here? Or is it's currency too weak? Or, maybe they've given up on incorrigible Indians?
Now those hard core religious sentimentalists...puleez, puleez, don't come after me with your crap explanations justifying their foreign craze.

Mr. Murthy, You are right, Jesus never said to chant His name, however, it is through personal confession of His death and resurrection that saves you from sin. One can search for the meaning salvation on the net, you do not need a guru to tell me or you.
Please read the life story of MMY. Extracts from LA Times is given below If he was 91 in 2007 and spent nearly 50 years abroad, it makes him 41 yr old when he left India. Being the son of a local tax official he will have lived like the rest of us. Even in late 1960s people were allowed only limited foreign ecxchange to take. That being the case, it takes some doing to go West and influence people their to follow alien practice of "meditation" and build an empire. The influential guru was born Mahesh Prasad Varma, the son of a local tax official in the Northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Various accounts give the year of his birth as 1911, 1917 or 1918; when he became the Maharishi, he was not inclined to clear up the mystery, saying that age was unimportant.
According to his official biography, he studied physics at Allahabad University and earned a degree in 1942. While in college, he became a student of Swami Brahmananda Saraswati, a major leader of the Hindus who was called Guru Dev, or "divine teacher." After graduating from college, he trained under Brahmananda until the guru died in 1953.
Following Guru Dev's death, the Maharishi retreated into the Himalayas for a two-year period of meditation. When he emerged in 1955, he devoted himself to popularizing his master's form of meditation, which was derived from Advaita Vedanta, a branch of Hindu philosophy.

Prabhupada is dead. All his disciples have moved on.Some have become Enlightened Gurus themselves. There is nothing permanent in this world. The Guru Parampara goes on.The sooner you realize this the better for you.I suggest you take a trip to Mathura & Vrindavan to recharge yourself spiritually. Also do some Bhakti Sadhana with a true Bhakti Guru - since you like Prabhupada , you can pick up someone from his Gaudiya Sampradaya.

Hi Susi Soni, SSRS has only written about his Guru. Where was the need for him to write about SBP, who died long ago? By the way I am an admirer of SBP and have his Baghavadgita and the 3-volume Krishna with me.
India is nothing if u forget the precious contribution made by rishi muni for thousands of years to human life. Today its really sad that media only focuses on netas, crime but has not space to give positive, inspiring article like this one. In my opinion both Sri Sri Ravishankar and Mahesh yogi are helping millions look within and find the real peace. They are true hero who care about india's soul. They should be supported by all, not judged based on rhumers. As the title says emperor and sadhu. U have to win both outside wealth and inner wealth. that was also the message of lord krishna.
I don't know if anyone has experience with Mr Yogi, but let me tell you a fact: How much his institutions charge here in US:
His TM Center charges 2800 dollars for 4, 1-hr meditation classes.
His Ayurvedic center charges over 700 dollars per day of treatment. Imagine when Ayurvedic treatments can easily be 3-4 weeks long (Especially for chronic diseases) and you may have to visit multiple times, we are talking about tens of thousands of dollars.
These costs (prohibitive) exclude more than 99% people living in America and are obviously intended to make billions of dollars rather than serving the needy.
It would have been much better to see Maharishi Yogi help poor rather than create billion dollar franchise, designed to help only the rich.

Why don't you help the poor ?And really wonder how much money can you make of a product if it dosen't work or if people are not ready to pay for it ? Why dosen't the American Govt take care of it's citizens health by having a National Health Service like in the UK or other European countries ? Why can't you Americans elect a Govt that does that & why do you expect such a favour from Maharishi at all ? Is he obliged to you in some way ? Why all idealism is reserved for the other person only ?
what a Am Admi can see in SRI SRI is a five star yoga center bursting with money/smile peace/love/harmony/as if we are in swarga. he promised he will solve the tamil problems in sri lanka/kashmir/ even the maoist problems in south central india, i hope it will happen and would be pleased how musch is done? Now there are gurus cropping in india as IPO's, and soon we will see the IT will be beaten up by the TM business and not as seva. Can we know how hundereds of crores are generated by sanyasis, who were never moneyed.
