Friends, I see some people here saying that Baba should be awarded BharatRatna. Pls don't insult him by giving him that award and placing him in the same row of Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi. He is much higher than the award. He don't need it at all. Govt should start new award in his name for the people doing good work in society...

i agree with you sir baba saheb is higher than this much politicised award. He will reamin BHARAT RATNA for ever even without honuoring with this award.
The name of Gandhi should not be associated with Baba Amte, Gandhi was no where near Baba Amte. Baba Amte is the true father of the nation and not Gandhi. if there has been any mahatma in 20the century then it is none other then Baba Amte. Baba Amte buried with full state honors, he deserve d it it was his unchallenged right. May god rest his soul in peace.

BABA Amte is / was simplay great. I feel lucky to say that I did my junior college fron Anand Niketan College, Anadwanm founded by BABA. He was simply humble whenever we met him. I salute that man. Everybody must visit Ananadwan to see his works and must contribute somethings there too.

I dont know if Sheetal reads it, but please remember one great personality like Baba Amte can be understood and admired with out being compared to another. Donot lower yourself by making this type of comparisons. I am writing this, because in any discussion forums we Indians try to tarnish another person/achievement to show something is good/Better. Amte was a Great Great Leader by himself. No need of your comparison or tarnishing Gandhi's image. It is also to be noted that, by following Gandhism in life Amte is admiring Gadhi way of thinking. Any Individual with no IQ, want to prove to prove their intellectual by deploring Mahatma. Even the nukkad barbar does the same.
One or two perons always join them and they feel they have achieved something inlife. You can find such people at every gathering, in every class.

i cannot agree with the statement of sheetal first comparison of gandhiji and baba saheb is wrong. 2nd baba saheb himself accepted gandhiji as his mentor and followed his path and principles then whi are we to criticize his stand and status by comparing gandhiji and baba saheb one should not try to tarnish the image of great gandhiji who always inspired millions world wide.

People like Baba Amte, Sunderlal Bahuguna, will continue to be ignored by the Nation... Thats because they did not align themselves to any Political Party, they did not rake up any controversies, they were not seen with Glamorous people, they did not use Religion to acheive their Aim, they did not Build lavish Institutes, nor were they corrupt.
Such people sadly are forgotten in this Country...
Its the same country which had Vinoba Bhave who initiated the BHoodan Movement, but unfortunately died a silent death in 1982, and the nation hardly cared !
May India get the intellect and understanding to follow what these people wanted to convey.
Baba Amate is truly one of the greatest Indians of our century eclipsing the Gods, Godmen and their corrupt political servants who today vie for Bharatratna. Baba is probably the only other Indian (after Gandhi) whose service to Mother India was selfless.
The sad news of Baba Amte's demise leaves me wth a feeling of utter loss. A long association of over 25 years. Him the torch bearer and me awestruck by the sheer magnitude of his work and vision. My father wept like a orphaned son. But I am glad the most courageous and compassionate source of inspiration of our times breathed last peacefully. He deserved it. I am glad my sister and I had taken our kidz to meet him in May last year. the warm twinkle in his eyes said it all. he was happy to see us with our children. 'What a beautiful surprise,'he said. Tai,his wife alas, has lost her memory but as always was womanhood personified. Disoriented,but gracious,caring,enquiring about us. Our children were wonderstruck by the great work he and his extended family have done at Anandwan. Leprosy patients,visually challanged,orphans, one and all were effortlessly moving about,busy in their work. the place clean and green. Baba's both the sons,daughetrs-in law and grandchildren and their spouses are all dedicated to the gigantic task Baba had once undertaken. hats off to Baba. Kalyani Dike Madan
