The sad news of Baba Amte's demise leaves me wth a feeling of utter loss. A long association of over 25 years. Him the torch bearer and me awestruck by the sheer magnitude of his work and vision. My father wept like a orphaned son. But I am glad the most courageous and compassionate source of inspiration of our times breathed last peacefully. He deserved it. I am glad my sister and I had taken our kidz to meet him in May last year. the warm twinkle in his eyes said it all. he was happy to see us with our children. 'What a beautiful surprise,'he said. Tai,his wife alas, has lost her memory but as always was womanhood personified. Disoriented, but gracious, caring, enquiring about us. Our children were wonderstruck by the great work he and his extended family have done at Anandwan. Leprosy patients, visually challanged, orphans, one and all were effortlessly moving about, busy in their work. the place clean and green. Baba's both the sons,daughetrs-in law and grandchildren and their spouses are all dedicated to the gigantic task Baba had once undertaken. hats off to Baba. Kalyani Dike Madan
