WHO IS RESPONSIBLE?
by tekguy on Feb 08, 2008 03:52 PM  Permalink

The recent crisis in mumbai is because of the failure of the shivsena to curb immigrants. They only pay lip service to the cause of local people while having an ambition to become a national party they started pandering to the migrants. The spectacular rise of slums can be attributed to the free housing promise given by the ss-bjp govt in 1995.Good that atlast they have a match in the MNS.

another nut
by Telveer on Feb 08, 2008 03:51 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Looks like being a NUT CAST goes in the "Thackeray" lineage.

Maharashtra is not a separate country but a state within India. If all Indians flock to Mumbai, so be it. The fact is that Mumbai is what it is because of its multi-cosmic culture. Go check New York, for example.

There are countless Marathis that moved to Hyderabad, Bangalore, Delhi and other parts of India. It's all give and take. If Marathis want reservations, let all Marathis live only in Maharashtra. Sounds ridiculous? So do the Thackerays.

I think either anyone who initiates issues like these does not have the capability to trigger relevant issues, or is indeed suffering from acute sense of inferiority complex.

Why insecurity?

Because by doing things like these , lends a feeling of superiority. Poor marathis, who do not earn much, can be easily swayed by these statements. But who can explain them that:

1. The real prosperity of Mumbai is due to Gujratis and North Indians. If these guys leave Mumbai, how is it going to help the mumbaikars.

Can someone explain if Amitabh Bachchan leaves mumbai will it create an opportunity for a poor (or rich) mumbaikar to become a substitute? (Can you replicate SRK, or RD Burman, or Yash Chopra)

So in the same context if a person from UP/Bihar leaves mumbai it will not create more opportunity for a mumbaikar. Even if it does, how many are capable and ready to sweat it out like them?

2. Again taking the example of Amitabh Bachchan : He indeed works and lives in Mumbai, but shoots most of the time outside Mumbai/Maharashtra, most of his money is earned from releases outside of maharashtra and movies which flop in maharashtra run succesfully in UP.

3. Let me also cite: Mumbai is a city of bar dancers, pubs, desolate and dilapidated buildings and textile mills and zero infrastructure. I think all the political parties should be ashamed of the state of financial capital. If things remain the same it will be no surprise to see industries and enterpriseing people

Why media not highlighting main issue of over population
by earthy man on Feb 08, 2008 03:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

All channels are dying hard to see when Raj is put behind bars

Is all the main news channel based in Delhi are controlled by Hindi speaking Bahiyas from UP/Bihar

Named me one News Anchor working in main News channels ( NDTV, CNN-IBN etc) that is from non-Hindi speaking background even in English news.

If want to make country progress that tackle main issue . Intimidating locals will not work

What does you mean to say? Is only non-hindi personals are in the news channel? It shows that your way of thinking is too much narrow where word like Hindustani can not be stored which derive from word like Hindi

May be population is an issue... but it doesn't means that you are going to kill to reduce it.. Right to live in any part of the country is a fundamental right enjoyed by all of us and creating division on any basis is not acceptable...

By the way, do you want your friends, family members etc to be thrown out of US on similar reason?

Our urban centres are unable to bear the inflow...
by Demo-crazy on Feb 08, 2008 03:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The problem of Mumbai is present even in Kolkatta, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, etc.

This influx of outsiders from the city, and state beyond certain limits is going to be a huge strain on civic infrastructure.

THE CITIES ARE DYING. THE STATES MUST DEVELOP THEIR REGIONAL CENTRES, BUILD INFRASTRUCTURE AND REVERSE THE FLOW BACK TO THE NATIVE LOCATIONS.

THERE SHOULD BE NO PERMISSION FOR ANY MORE OFFICE, FACTORY, within the BIG CITIES. THE GOVERNMENT MUST CONSCIOUSLY MOVE THE HEADQUARTERS OF SOME OF THEIR DEPARTMENTS TO OTHER CITIES.

fully agree. instead of just blaming the local frustrated maharastrians, bangaloreans, the leaders of the big states UP and bihar in particular should develop infrastructure and create job opportunities in theie states so that the poor do not wander here and there for their livelihood. India is for all indians but the states should also so something worthwhile. The autonomy the states demand should not be one sided. What is the contribution of the socalled powerful netas from north except hollow slogans and false promises to their people. why cant they emulate south indiann politicians such as s m krishna who gave bangalore the beautiful flyovers and roads. The northern politicians know just to bask in some one elses glory. Bangalore is also going the mumbai way. Bangaloreans are facing the same problems now which mumbai has been facing for the past 20 years. We appreciate the concerns of the north indian people but each state is responsible for contributing to the economic prosperity of their regions.

THE PROBLEM OF KRISHNA WAS TOO MUCH FOCUS ON BANGALORE. HE NEGLECTED OTHER DISTRICT CENTRES, AND CONGRESS LOST BADLY IN THAT ELECTION.

THE INFRASTURCUTRE IS KEY - ROADS, TELECOM NETWORK, ELECTRICITY AND WATER. INDUSTRY MUST BE SHUNTED AWAY TO SUCH DISTRICT CENTRES SO THAT THERE IS MORE DEVELOPMENT.

DEHRADUN IS COMING UP SO WELL, DUE TO SUCH POLICIES. WE NEED TO SEE MANY MORE IN ALL STATES.

This is the fault of that city. Ask the local not to rent the house to outsiders. They will automaticlly move out of the city. Make sense buddy. You rent ur house to outsiders and get huge rent from them and feed ur kith and kin out of that money, ur business gorows out of their pocket and then one fine day u start targetting them. This is called back stabbing.

RE:Our urban centres are unable to bear the inflow...
by Demo-crazy on Feb 08, 2008 04:06 PM  Permalink
I disagree. The solution is not as simple as not renting a house.

IT IS PURELY BECAUSE OF CONCENTRATION OF OPPORTUNITIES IN CERTAIN CITIES. MOST OF THE DISTRICT CENTRES DO NOT OFFER BETTER CAREER OPTIONS FOR THOSE IN SERVICE. NOT ALL CAN BE IN BUSINESS, NOT ALL CAN BE DOCTORS, TAILORS, TEACHERS, ETC, IN SMALL TOWNS. THE ABILITY TO ABSORB THEM AND PROVIDE FINANCIAL OPPORTUNITIES ARE LIMITED. AND, THEN, MANY DO NOT WISH TO GO TO RURAL PARTS TO SERVE - PURELY LACK OF INFRASTRUCTURE AND LOW EARNING POTENTIAL.

Raj, I am also a Maharashtrian presently residing in Madhya Pradesh. Long back ago our ancestors migrated to Madhya Pradesh. Why you accuse Great Actor Amitabh Bachchan! Where were you at the time of bankruptcy of Amitabh's ABCL Company. Did you ever helped him out at the time of crisis. Do serve Marathi's by your own stamina as you are doing well with your business and you are also an rich industiralist.
