As if cheating is a news and it happens only in Bihar. The great cheaters like Kaavya Viswanathan (whose debut novel, How Opal Mehta Got Kissed, Got Wild and Got a Life, was found to have been plagiarized from multiple sources) are not Bihari. The truth is that the use of "unfair means" can be easily seen all over the world. A national survey by Rutgers' Management Education Center of 4,500 American high school students found that 75 percent of them engage in serious cheating. More than half have plagiarized work they found on the Internet. ...

Prasad Bhai,
Itna emotionalwa kahey ho rahen hain? Don't do absurd comparison. Kaavya Viswantahan is an isolated case and once caught her publsiher didn't publish her books.

First of all, a Bihari wouldn't ridicule you by mocking your language. A language is language, there is nothing funny about that. A bihari is better than you at least in this respect.

So stop comparing apples to oranges and accept the truth. I stayed in Bihar at some point of my early years and I know how it goes over there.

You would say anything that makes Bihar not worse than other states is not a good comparison. If one isolated case weighs more than the sum of all everyday cases of Bihar, then I would say it is not a bad comparison. By the way, comparing Bihar with other states is also like comparing apples to oranges as different states have different histories and economical-political-social conditions.

Bihari Bhuddus are not only good at cheating, but also in fairy tales.

Saturnina, tell me what Biharis are not good at. You can't imagine an India without Bihar. The Ashoka Chakra comes from a Bihari ruler, the chakra's central presence on Indian tricolor conveys how Bihar is prominent. India is known for Kamasutra which also comes from Bihar. The first democracy of the world was in Bihar (around 6th Century BC in Vaishali). Not enough space here to list everything Biharis have done for India.

That was way back... if I had lived at that time I would have praised bihar... with your logic I should be praising africa for getting the first human link...

ezekielrage, read my reply to Yousuf above. Africa is praiseworthy indeed. Not only human beings evolved from there but this continent has been continuously giving to the world. For example, can you imagine world music without african rythms? Music genres like Rock, rock & roll, latin, swing, raggae, hip-hop, blues, etc. etc. wouldn't have existed without Africa. By the way, coffee comes from africa. There are much more Africa has given to the world. Do some studies on this.

Every place in world had some prominence some time in the history. Whats the current state of that place is what matters. Bihar is in a dire state now, and no one can deny that.

Yousuf, you are right. Then you should know that no country or state is permanently rich. Bihar is no exception. But since Bihar has given India a lot, shouldn't Indians consider giving back to Bihar? What have you done to develop Bihar other than criticizing Biharis? Bihar was one of the best administered states until 70's. This state has been in bad shape just recently because of valid reasons such as negligence of the central government (no infrastructure development) and there is nothing (language etc.) that binds us together; but still Biharis don't want to seperate from India. Partition of Bihar worsened the situation. But things are changing now. You will see one developed Bihar in your life time. Not allowing cheating in exams in one step towrds it.

Bihar is a completely different story. Student copy openly during exam as if that's their birthright. That's why if you have a degree from Bihar, it's not recognized anywhere in the world, because everyone knows how one got that degree.
What do you think wherever the exams are fair you produce good quality professionals?
Indians are still riding on the naturally talented people who are so much gifted that they dont rely on the education system. The degree is the formality to be fulfilled which the society or the system needs for recognition and give license to practice.

What Tamilnadu has in this news. Everyone goes after TN as if it is the only state giving reservations. What about other states. Can any chief minister in india abolish reservation system. Everyone does it and the percentage depends on the prevailing situations in that particular state. What for Meenas and Gujjars are fighting over. Just face the truth and dont try to hide it by blaming others.

You doesn't deserve to validate the Tamilians. The best education system is ours and we are the out performers.
Please don't worry if they protest. Please keep up the good work. Magazines like Tehelka might write bad things about your government and call it a JUNGLE RAJ but every good bihari and every good hindustani will agree that you are doing a good job.
Please do not succumb to pressure from Pseudo-elites and Pseudo-intellectuals.
YOU AND ONLY YOU CAN CHANGE BIHAR.
Also, don't be bothered by what media writes or says about you....Whenever you have doubt just ask yourself. "DID NARENDRA MODI AND MAYAWATI NEED MEDIA'S SUPPORT TO WIN PEOPLE'S SUPPORT IN ELECTIONS."
