The next time you see 2 IAS officers together please do remember that in all probability one of them is a Bihari as Bihar send maximum number of IAS, IPS officers. And you can't accuse them of cheating as the final selection round is not held in BIhar

bullsh@t. most of these guys are totally useless. they try to get postings in the South, since law and order situation is much better down south. their communication skils are pathetic; i remember, a few years back, when in school, the District collector (A BIHARI), came to address the gathering during the Republic Day parade. His usage of English left us dumbfounded...great English...beautifully laced with grammatical and pronunciation errors!! Bihar ki Jai.
Mr shinjan bose, pls ask the IAS/IPS officers from Bihar to remain their itself and devote their God given skills towards the betterment of Bihar, without disturbing other states.

hi,
friends, why you blame Bihari's in totality. at the time of Independence Bihar was one of the leading states.many bihari's studied outside bihar and got achievements in all fields including Civil Services . it is politics in Bihar which destroyed the atmosphere of education system , and similarly mulayam singh yadav tried to destroy education system of U.P. by diluting rajnath singh's strong cheating law paving way for cheating in exams.

See whatever has happened in past is past.LLB III students are mature enough to think about their career.
I appreciate the efforts of Gov./Local administration, who did not allow the unfair means.Such efforts if adopted every where in Bihar then there will be no challenge for Biharis in the World.

yup it all comes back to politics and the leaders. but again then the question is why ar these leaders even up there at that position? who elects them?- the people! why?- coz they provide the people with food, clothes, money, alcohol.. the list is long.
Its a never ending cycle which requires a serious action to be taken by the common people of india!

Make Open book exam compoulsory
by Sudhindra Rayaprol on Feb 03, 2008 11:27 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The whole discussion on this issue has gone wayward. It is not the question of north or south India, but it is the question of future of India. In our country, everyone is affected or influenced by the other, so let us sit down and think seriously about why does situations occur. Why do people cheat in exams, getting jobs etc.? Is it inherent to our culture or some serious lapses are there? Instead of the current examination pattern, where one has to mug up things just to put it on examination sheet in 2 or 3 hours, let us think ahead and go for open book system of examination, where the test will be for the intellect of the student and not his talent of mugging or cheating. This will ensure that the paper setters and the evaluators are both educated and they know the subject better. In my opinion it will ensure better quality education and will reduce this open display of shamelessness in our society. When students and their parents demands cheating as their right..it shows how rotten our system has become. We must appreciate the government of Bihar efforts of conducting a fair examination. But given the state of affairs, they need to do more than this. To ensure that we get good lawyers and judges, it is high time to clean the education system of this age old examination method.

on a serious note, why even have open book exams? if he attends college, then issue "college attended" certificate. if he wants to get job, then he should prove himself capable of that. we need to try this.

Great History
by Murali S on Feb 03, 2008 11:27 AM  Permalink

Bhihar too has great history. It is just that the quality has reduced overs the years and the students think might is right. When Dr.Ambedkar said reservation it was not lifetime but now Dalits/OBC think its their fundamental right. Politicans use for their own benefit. Unless education is based on merit only irrespective of caste/religion nothing works. Remove all reservation. Give backward the help to study but no jobs directly. Prove and take the job should be the policy.

cheating, a national phenomena
by madhvendra singh on Feb 03, 2008 11:23 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

no one can say that there is no cheating in other states of india, i have lived in many parts of the country, and i have seen cheatingin most of the places, in fact IITs and IIMs, the epitome of educational excellence, have been full of students who have been caught and suspended for cheating. in my college from where did i get my MBA, (one of the top 10 colleges in India for MBA), not 1, 2 but many toppers have been suspended and failed for cheating in exams, leave aside the cheating in porjects and assignment when there is no supevision. so people who feel good in mud slinging, please look in to your own collar, you will find as much dirt as you see in others....!

I agree with you soma, and in support I have following arguments..

When separated from the Bengal Presidency in 1912, Bihar and Orissa comprised a single province. Regionalism-The bane of India
by Garima Nagar on Feb 03, 2008 11:15 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Violation of law is an offence everywhere in India. It should be dealt with sternly whether it is in Bihar or in South India.

The problem with we Indians is that we never think as a nation. That is the prime reason that less than 300,000 Britishers could rule on more than 30 crore Indians for 150 years.

The way we fight with each other rather than trying to solve the problem in another part of our country, we are jeopardizing our hard fought freedom from the Brits.
