The assumption that Lingayat Brahmin vote will win majority for the BJP is a mere fallacy. (The Brahmin vote is miniscule in the state).
The JD(S) has already largely perceived to have collapsed and all other communities may graviate towards the Congress since the JD(S) is increasingly seen as a loser. This second scenaraio is already visibly evident. It must be noted that Vokaligas and Muslims tend to switch from JD(S) and Congress and back again very freqently.
Vicky's analysis of why SM Krishna is not standing or why Congress is not announcing its CM candidate is based on the later scenario - Congress is trying to be a magnet for all castes and does not want to upset caste equations - very shrewd strategy.
So what evidence is available of a Lingayat-non-Lingayat caste polarization has taken place. The BJP boasted that they had a 15 day campaign lead over the Congress. Now that they hit the campaign trail, they have realized that the masses have very little enthusiasm for them.

How come only Inquilaab Zindabad is protesting for the sake of ISLAM! Why no Khan's namely ShahRuk ,Amir Salman and last but not the least Saif Ali Kahan! not protesting at all!!
In fact they are enjoying all the Peace and Goodness that all the Hindus have for all ManKind and the Living!!
Younis are you paid heavly by any pakistani organisation for Peace!! Since i feel they were able to influence your lothy self due to there Greed and Hatred for not making it into Bharath .. The land of Peace and Truth. All thing here Holy as long as you live in peace and speek the Truth!
1. Congress has a 10% lead over the BJP and expected to have more than a comfortable majority. (Cong 41%, BJP 30.5%, JD(S) 22.5)
2. Though the state appear to have a multi-polar contest among Cong, BJP and JD(S), in majority of seats, effectively it is a a bi-polar fight that puts BJP into a disadvantage. The JD(S) trailing the BJP by 7% vote share, may end up close to the seat tally of the BJP as their votes are concentrated giving them a higher strike rate.
3. The BJP is poised to be decimated in Bangalore and suffer major losses in the coastal belt. In North Karnataka, the BJP holds the edge but expected to suffer minor erosion in its vote share. There is evidence that the Lingayat base of the BJP showing signs of strain.
4. The share of other parties like SP, JD(U), BSP comes down to around 6-7%.

Dear Vikramasimha, Thanks for your outlook to the people of NE India. Have u ever been to North east India? When have they got seperated from India? U have done it? If christianity is 70%/ 80% in some NE states, what about Kerala? In some Indian states muslim are also 70%/80%? what is your take on that?
If you want to know the true picture, do go to NE India....just sitting in your home, do not potray a wrong picture.
We the NE India people still respect the TRICOLOUR, sing "Jana gana mana" and follow the path of Gandhiji during protest movements.
There are many Hindus in NE India. and they are very FUNDAMENTAL and religious..MIND it!! Every morning, after taking bath, we worship Sun God, Tulshi plant and other deities. Kitchen is enetered with wash clothes only.

and why bloody rediff reporter writes ne militanat? does manipur meand entire NE? is ulfa and PULF synonnymous? don't write such biased reports without knowing the basics.
This is no surprise. In India laws are not enforced. It is easy for bad elements in the society to bribe the politicians and police and get away with anything. UNLESS INDIAN CITIZENS AND MEDIA BECOME MORE VOCAL ABOUT IMPLEMENTING THE LAWS OF THE LAND, the situation will only increase and violence will increase in society.
The citizens cannot be complacent and expect that everything will be ok. They need to act. The media should GROW UP and DISCHARGE ITS RESPONSIBILITY OF WORKING WITH THE CITIZENS to eliminate corruption.
Ha!!!...these militants even dont leave a place like Mysore in their list...Why a trial against them...extract as much information as the police can and shoot them in an encounter..

Nonsense! What the hell do you mean North India is different from South ? Why is Gujuland different from Lungi/Sambar Land? IBN-CNN and NDTV are both paid Congress promoters! They have only one game plan, make great surveys and hope that the comman people will trust that a vote accordingly. Forget Gujarat elections consider only the projections they made for Patel voted going against BJP in Saurastra! What I love about Pranoy Roy and Rajdeep Sardesai is that even after their projection go haywire they have no shame on counting day to make comments in a relaxed manner!

Dear prakash, What is there to read the story. no date nor details nor names locations. Dont you feel this sort of stories are only to creat some unpleasant feelings among the readers?
"The Karnataka police are not yet sure if the PULF militants were planning an attack in the state or were merely using it as a hideout. According to the police, these men had recently made inquiries about tourist spots in the vicinity of Mysore. However, the police are not sure about their motive." This clearly indicates the motive of the pbulishers. is there anything wrong in my statement?
this pulf is replaced by simi/let then more readers will post messages.
