A pseudo-secular hypocrite 'Commie' without comrades !!
by Pradip Kamath on Apr 29, 2008 04:05 PM  Permalink

This fellow has been out to bring disrepute to fellow kannadigas with his nonsensical ideas and utopian mannerisms..REDIFF, Pls ignore such people who are behind some fame in the name of anti-development..In the interview, one of the organisations he has opposed is Vedike..I feel there is not much difference between vedike and him, cos both are behind cheap publicity in the name of narrow-minded and highly-vested Agendas which can ONLY take Karnataka behind rather than forward in the times to come..

Dr Udupi Rajagopalacharya Ananthamurthy is a contemporary writer of Kannada literature and a tireless public intellectual

????

Really?

This like chauvinist elements are Cancer to India.

Just few years back, this element opposed the BPL ex-proprietor, a Malayali from contesting for Rajyasaba from Bangalore. Reason is, hes not a kannadiga.

Yes, Rajya sabha seats should not have been given to Rajeev Chandrasekhar who came out of the blue and got Elected from Karnataka just because of Money power. What he can do for our Great Karnataka's cause. Atlease Mallya being a Rajya sabha MP got back the Sword of Tipu Sulthaan.

Sorry for the foul language,, but hello ... wat is the national language for. Obviously this guy has no idea wat he is talkin about and he has got very tunnel vision. Grow up... for people to prosper u need to interact with other people in a common language .. in india it is generally hindi or english

yes friend.. in india these old do gooders speak in a strange language that george orwell called "new speak" .. here if you discriminate in favour of so called upper castes , hindus, men, corporate managers etc then thats discriminatory and evil.. but if you discriminate in favour of OBCs / dalits, other religious groups, women, workers etc then thats NOT discrimination.. if men mistreat women ( even verbal scolding) thats doemstic violence .. if women even kill men ( like in that ghastly apologist movie.. 'provoked')then thats something else definitely not violence!.. if a man demands sex from his wife then thats insensitive .. maybe even marital rape.. but if a woman does the same and a man is reluctant to have sex then thats mental cruelty towards her ( do u know men hv been jailed for inability to have sex on first night?).. an upper caste criticising an OBC / dalit is jailed under prevention of atrocities act.. but when they abuse and curse upper castes regularly in all forum.. then thats an intellectual / ideological discussion! wow india wow!

90% of people of Bengaluru knows to speak, read and write Kannada.
by Ravi on Apr 29, 2008 03:43 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

90% of people of Bengaluru know to speak, read and write Kannada and they prefer to continue like this. This is already proved in the ongoing elections. All the FM channels who started with anti Kannada agenda have become predominantly Kannada orieneted. 91.1 FM which came with single agenda of promoting Hindi in Bengaluru and Karnataka has already bit the dust. This can happen only with the support of people. We need not worry about those 10% people. They will also learn slowly.

Then Why every one is shouting...

Kaun kaun si company mein ho yaar tum log jo itna time milta hai bakar karne ke liye.

It is not as if ousiders does't want to learn but how many languages one can learn. I was at Pune and I learned marathi. I came to bangalore and I learnt kannada up to bit to understand others. Now beacuse of some problems i have to relocate to chennai. I would be learning Tamil but would definately forget kannada. So better is teach English to every body. The universal language.

by R Prasad on Apr 29, 2008 04:51 PM  Permalink
I gree with Atul, I think this is the most valid point. Every issue has its pro and cons. I am not wishing away the problem of native culture being overwhelmed by non-native languages and culture coupled with the problems of having to get used to an alien lifestyle (for the natives) and loss of habitat especially in the case of cities like Bangalore and Mumbai that were once green and beautiful. But labour is mobile and it has to be mobile if India has to maintain its competitiveness and forcing people to learn umpteen number of languages is unjust and makes us that much less competitive. How many languages will one man learn? Having said that I believe if a person intends to stay on for a term of 5 years or more in a city then he should pick up the native language (And in this case knowing Hindi will not suffice. Hindi speakers should understand that non-hindi speakers love their language and culture as much as hindi folks love their language and culture). All said and done I think when we point to the constitution and say it grants us the right to settle down anywhere in India, we should also realise that we should honour the people and the place where we are residing. Don't denigrate their language and culture. Along with rights we also have to do our duty.

why kannada
by nalin tiwari on Apr 29, 2008 03:35 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We haven't come to bangalore to learn kannada or bharatnatyam....nor are we asking any one to learn hindi.

We are simply here to do our business in watever language it gets done.

I saw many airheads ranting 'y r u coming to bangalore', 'who asked u to come'

The person who gave me a job in his company asked me to come and in turn his company is giving hefty amount of money to ur sucking govt. in terms of taxes...but the ungrateful state govt. (not unlike the ppl who vote for it) fails to think of the rights of the ppl who've come to live and work here.

It is high time tht bangalore be made a union territory and these chauvinists asked to practice their 'culturaaa' in bidar and hampi.

You have come to bangalore for job, since you don't get better job in your own State. Your company is paying tax to the Govt for the facilities it has taken from the State Government such as land, water, Electricity and it is not giving any charity to the Government. If your employer got the facilities in his own State he would not have come to Bangalore. Please understand that.
