Rediff has said nothing about Mayawati unveiling her own statue yesterday. It would have been a really funny news item to follow in sense of reading the comments below it.

The tide is already flowing backward Mr. Brahmin. You brahmins really had 100% reservations in your favour for 3500 years. But that didn't kill your enemies, the native Indians, it only injured and now the tide is flowing back. Sit back and wait your turn.

I fully support making 100% reservation for BCs and OBCs. Evey GC should support it. And govt should allow privatisation of education and non-interference in those private inst. lets see what happens then.
Somebody told me"Reservation is none of the business of you and your class. It is our strategy to get our fair and equitable share in national resources. Mind it, we are forcefully taking it. This is no concession granted by any body." I know you and your tribe. This is not like occupying seats in train in Bihar and UP. If you were to win by muscle power, history would be reversed and all of us would go back to cave.

But before you make such allegation-you have to tell "where do you see the biasness". Come on this is an academic discourse. You need make evidence based arguments (which you cant do obviously).
The skimming layer will soon become the scheming layer. JNU academics who have no other Kaam Dhanda , being the silence of the lambs in the Tibet issue and bowing down to the great Chinese empire , would be spending their time scheming for the creamy layer. To skim or not to skim is the question. So why not scheme a scheme for the creamy layer till the Olympics. By this time the din and shor of Tibet will go away. Then these lambs can growl their scheme to prevent the skimming of the creamy layer and make a lot money to survive.

You are right! The creamy layer is the scheming layer, scheming against the rest of India's poor and middle class population.
In fact, every commission has been seen as a creator of some trouble in the national limelight. They come up with such recommendations that implementing these always create controversies.
Did you know that there is a system in our constitution, as per the 1969 act, in section "49-O" that a person can go to the polling
booth, confirm his identity, get his finger marked and convey the presiding election officer that he doesn't want to vote anyone!
Yes such a feature is available, but obviously these seemingly notorious leaders have never disclosed it. This is called "49-O".
Why should you go and say "I VOTE NOBODY"... because, in a ward, if a candidate wins, say by 123 votes, and that particular ward has received "49-O" votes more than 123, then that polling will be cancelled and will have to be re-polled. Not only that, but the candidature of the contestants will be removed and they cannot contest the re-polling, since people had already expressed their decision on them. This would bring fear into parties and hence look for genuine candidates for their parties for election. This would change the way, of our whole political system... it is seemingly surprising why the election commission has not revealed such a feature to the public.... Please spread this news to as many as you know... Seems to be a wonderful weapon against corrupt parties in India... show your power, expressing your desire not to vote for anybody, is even more powerful than voting... so don't miss your chance. So either vote, or vote not to vote (vote 49-O) and pass this info on...
"Please forward this "LAW" to as many as possible, so that we, the people of India, can really use this power t
The Mandal Commission's recommendations have opened a Pandora's Box in terms of a new sub class within the OBC population-The Creamy Layer. The Author has rightly pointed out that absence of appropriate economic criteria as the main reason for the large scale misuse of the reservation facility. For proof one can recall the agitation of the Gujjars for inclusion in the list of SCs. One finds that the cause for this agitation is the phenomenon of the creamy layer cornering the reservation space thru their clout in the political parties and bureaucracy. The creamy layer is a class of people with a common aim of seeking reservations in perpetuity. There is no way in which this class of people can be segregated from their parent castes without further categorising them along caste lines. Reservations, have become a tool to promote caste based divisions in the society. On the whole the logic of reservation is splittist in nature and promoting the self interest of the politicians from this class. These days it has become fashionable for some leaders to champion the cause of the OBC on a pan India basis. The effort is aimed at carving out their own pockets of influence in the votebanks The time has come when economic criteria must gain prominence even among the reservation categories. This alone will phase out the disparity in denying opportunity to the deserving among the poor.
The article is just another piece of propaganda material written to ridicule reservation. It is not going to help anybody. Reservation is reality. Get used to it. Times have changed, Mr. Dipakar Gupta.
After reading all these, and those scocial things happening on the name caste politics including todays leader like mayawati, athawale and others.... i really wonder, 1) Whatever Dr. Ambedkar did was correct? 2) Was his approach right? 3) Does he really deserve the respect that he is given? 4) he is called farther of indian constitution... but there was a team who worked for it... why they are not given the required appriciation. and more than that the whole constitution is copied from UK constitution with minor changes.
