Other than Hindus no other race / culture knew counting beyond small numbers. Million, billion trillions are all of recent origin. We have words signifying numbers which are of much larger quantity. As Dr Singh (I was surprised to read such a scholarly article form A Police Commissioner) rightly pointed out the "Western Scholars" who have no knowledge of the language and no idea of this Sanathana Dharma and their Indian followers would do well to understand the scientific facts comming to light about the age of earth which correspond to the total of all the four yugas. Last but not least, religion never controlled the philosophical thoughts ( we have different philosophical schools), scientific findings (surgery, medicine, astronomy etc. Concluding equality of women was not only practised, religious functions cannot be performed by a man without his wife. We had number system which can count both largest and smallest too. Smallest as an Atom and Largest as inifinity
I am too small a person to make one comment on its marvellous presentation with so much reasoning and impartiality. Sure, this amazingly an eternal writing is not for critisism against other religions, but just pardon them for their illogical statements on this GREAT TRADITION by itself. May this earth, heaven, hell fall off and vanish but Ramayana will be tought even after that, truly for the betterment of mankind and teaching moral values of life. It has become a fashion for large section of Indian and rest of the world community to say something against the GREAT RAMAYANA. It is very unfortunate that for the past 750 years some of the Indians have sold themselves for some foreign influence and bribery on some pretext. Finally at the end of the day they have to admit this by their consciousness. I wish to forward this message to all my friends worldwide, if they had by chance never have had holy glance at the greatness of this article. My "HUMBLE FOLDED SAHASRA PRANAMS TO HIS HOLINESS Dr SATYA PAL SINGH".
Congratulations Dr Satya for presenting such a thought provoking article to today's generation. Some time back I read this novel "INDIA" by Khuswant Singh. I was surprised to note that a writer of such fame too have mentioned Ram to be fictitious figure.
I totally agree with what this author has to say about the existance of Ram. His line of arguement, position and qualification only make him appear more trustable. To me, trying to find physical evidence of Ram's existance is pointless. The UPA government's arguement on the Ram sethu issue in the supreme court is not supported by concrete evidence. They should first scientifically establish that Ram and ramayanam are fictious before asking the believers in Ram to prove his existance. That my friends looks close to impossible today. In my opinion this is the work of a bunch of atheist politicians (hailing from TN and bengal). No theist has ever interferred in the beliefs of atheists and in this context we expect them not to interfere in our's either. This is a free country and we should be proud of it. Which ever court of law you go to in this world the law of the land will always uphold peoples belief in Ram as there is no evidence to prove it otherwise. At the end of the day Law is what a bunch of people calling themselves as countrymen believe in. Its not concrete and evidence based like science. So when a billion people believe in Ram i dont see a reason for any court of law going against this belief. At the end i hope good wisdom prevails.

imported religions do not belong in this country. Kick them out. No dead body can come alive and fly.
You all belive in one thing that GOD created Human being, but why you are not understanding the fact that Hindus, muslims, Christians are the names given by the GOD to his sons.
FIRST BELIVE GOD CREATED THE WORLD AND NAMED HIS SONS AS HINDUS / MUSLIMS / CHRISTIANS.
IF YOU BELIVE REALLY IN GOD TREAT OTHERS AS YOUR BROTHER.

I don't believe that God created the world. Come to think of it, I don't believe in God. Who created God? If you are going to say God is everywhere and no one needs to create him, can I sell you a product that you can't see, can't smell, can't identify but can buy? Only one rupee each. Gawd!

Since your knowledge is very superficial about Islam and Prohet Muhammad (PBUH)I will not react in the manner that you have done. Read authentic books about prrophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Islam and then I am sure that you will repent throughout your life for making such derogatory remarks.
Today, a lot of people discuss about creamy layer. What is the creamy layer?
Creamy layer is a layer like the same on milk. As we know, the layer is created after mixing milk very well.
Sangh Parivar does the same thing. First divide people in Dalit, Christian, Muslim, SC, ST, common man, upper caste, etc. in separate columns. Then create communal violence in its own community like Godhra train carnage. Then the leaders have no work, but sit back. Mad people of the communities will do their work. After a short while, a juicy cream of blood and body will be created. In the previous years, that was used a lot to fulfill the leader's desire.
