the goa police are the most corrupt among all govt officials.thier take home salary after deductions are peanuts that makes them currupt.moreover some of the police officials whom i know work for more than 24hrs (in wirless dept).the traffic police stops all private vehicles from other states for which the DGP GOAPOLICE should personally hire a Private vehicle from othe state and see for himself.viglance officers of goa Government are mute spectators after CONGRESS GOVERNMENT in power.
Not to diminish the horrible demise of this poor girl, but had this been some nobody Indian who was raped and killed in this gruesome manner, does anyone really believe that the cops would have even bothered with a second autopsy, far less seeing the investigation cop dismissed? Fat chance - Indian lives are cheap - useless, not worth the bother. Now a ghora - that's a different kettle of fish - they're worth millions times more.

rotten state of democracy in india.biggest mafia is the police eastabilishments rotten apples and politician nexus.political management changes to gain the benefit of smuggling trade.
ANY GIRL IRRESPECTIVE OF COUNTRY, CASTE CREED AND SOCIETY, BE DEALT WITH FORCE AND ALL CULPRITS EVEN WHO SHIELD THEM TO BE PROCECUTED ON FAST TRACK COURTS. HAPPY TO SEE THE DISMISSAL OF THE COP WHO SHIELDED THE CULPRITS.
I request the government to the pay the police well in salary. But, one cannot play with life, protect murderers. These kind of polices should be given rigorous imprisoment of 20 years.

i completely second this little said but very important factor.. having been in Goa and working with the mother and Advocate Varma day and night i see how deep and intertwined the issues in this case are.. yes, if the police were paid a lliveable wage, the prospect of extorting money would be less attractive.. Radical reform on many levels is needed in order for there to be "success" in this case... The behaviors have been accepted and the mass of people have felt disempowered and helpless to change the system. Yet throughout this case i have been amazed and inspired every single day by the bravery and inner strength that is growing both in the individuals and the community as a whole to stand in the light of justice. i haven't heard the old adage "i can't clap with one hand" after the first week we started digging for truth and justice. We are not alone and neither are you.. :-)
Police is supposed to be citizen's friend but in India it is not. People will got to a goonda rather than a police station. It seems that I can trust a local thug more than a police man. Everyday in the newspaper we read stories of corrupt police. Why are we paying taxes to nurture this vampires?
Goa is now becoming a fear for tourist and most of them get attracted to drugs than the beauty of the city. I wish Madur Bhandarkar makes a movie on this soon.
