Social justice is must
by ganesh subi on Apr 11, 2008 11:12 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

People exaggerate the things. No OBC of 40% can get into Medical college. The cut off for the OBC and SC is slowly catching up with cut off marks for General. I had one experience. My friend who hates reservation applied for the seat in Law College. When we went to the college to the see merit list, he was astonished. He uttered, Had I been an SC also I would not have made into the list. Because he had less marks than the cut-off marks of the SC quota. The things have changed. It is time to accept the reservation in the larger interests of the country.
The issue that should be raised is that the job losses to be stopped. There are lakhs of jobs are lying vacant. We must raise together and voice for the real social justice. Jai Hind.

Reservations don't do any justice!

Reservations are a populist tool to cheat the lower castes into believing that they are being looked after!

But in effect it only compounds their status as Backwards forever!

Anybody with an iota of self-respect wouldn't want to be humiliated like this in their own country!

But by the looks of the support these measures get among the backwards, it is apparent that they deserve such treatment!!

No..What you are saying is not true. It is reverse that is happening now. Take the case Tamil Nadu that is notable for the reservation. The quality is not compromised. Infact more professionals have come out from Tamil Nadu than before.
The complaint that the OBC who has 40% can become Doctor while the General who has 90 cannot become does not hold now. Even the cut-off marks given to the OBC are very closer to the General. These people had a wish to study because they had reservation.

The only interest that the reservation can breed is ineptness. The story that you are trying to make has no foundation. You people fear the competition. For this reason you take the pride of raccoons. Reservation is a social injustice to tallents. It is recognition of racial and social bias meted to a certain group of individuals. The very idea of Ambedkars reservation has failed to give prosperity to the SC/ST mass. This reservation has made no progress in the lives of SC/ST in the past 50 years and will produce nuts no matter how long it goes.

Why do you worry about reservation? Your general quotal seats are being kept intact. Remember, India made real economic progress after 91 and that is the year OBC reservation started in central government jobs. I can assure you that once OBC reservation is extended to private sector jobs, India will become an economic super power. So, for the development of India from an extremely poor country to a developled country, support reservation.

Support reservaion and waste talents!India could have progressed a lot after 1991 had the reservation system not burdened the country. However, I agree with you that, like SC/STs, most of the OBCs quota will not be fullfilled. This is because you can make a horse breed but not a mule.

all the progress that India has achieved after 1991 is because of the private sector and not because of OBCs working in govt jobs. India's great IT sector and BPO industry has been made possible because of the HUGE investment the west made in the internet and the fiber optic network across the globe. OBCs had nothing to do with that

I'am an upper caste Maharashtrian who completed engineering qualifications from VJTI on merit and also MBA from IIM Ahmedabad on merit...

Today, i work for a leading US investment bank and earn $ 280,000 per annum in Wall Street!!

But i don't have any upper class arrogance about me, i still feel that the lower castes are suffering from the effects of discrimination which their forefathers were subjected to by which many of them were denied primary education!

Those ill effects are observed even today, so until those ill-effects are seen, it is better to have some kind of reservation!!

It is now the responsibility of the upper caste people to ensure that the right value systems are inculcated in OBCs/SC/Sts and they are in a position to achieve success without any handholding, say 10 years from now!!

If you are working on Wall Street, does your boss know that you are wasting time by posting worthless comments on Rediff?

You are in reality an OBC who was rejected badly by the institutes you have mentioned!

You are posting a fake endorsement because you know that the people who got into those institutes on their merit would hate to read your comment!

Just wanted to substantiate the point that upper class respectability does not confer superstar status by which you have the right to lampoon other castes...$280,000 was just mentioned to substantiate my respectability...

Many successful upper caste guys in US and in India treat these lower castes with disdain and contempt...that is exactly what i wanted to drive home.....success does not mean that you can treat others with disdain and look down on them!!
Hope i have made my point clear!!

An unfortunate decission.
by Biren Mukherjee on Apr 11, 2008 11:01 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This verdict would remain as an example where castism surpassed merits. By giving chances to unqualified candidates SC has forced the country backwards. As a result more non professionals will be produced in highly valued sectors like Engineering and Medical. The standards of IITs and AIIMS will go down and India will be declared a country of inept people. In that scenario, foreign investments will reach at its low ebb and NRIs (higher caste) will not send the money. So SC/ST/OBC be prepared to push the country on swamps!

IIT & IIM is Commercial Gimmick

Universities afiliated to the UGC have done great service to the nation and society at large. Why people are making IIT & IIM as something extra ordinary whare as fact is they did nothing in last 40 years except producing Brahmin and Baniya 80 % graduates from these institutes you check their list of graduates. The same people after becoming CEO of Indian companies promoted IIT & IIM Monopoly into private sector as premier Indtitute to favour their upper caste candidates is conspiracy and well organised and planned strategy. IIT & IIM fall victim of their own stratagy because of market preference become coveted destination for every one. Where as all serious simple graduates from all UGC afiliated Universities silently migrated abroad for advance research and working as well as promoting their business become more in number of succesful Indians abroad as compare to IIM & IIT graduates

But these CEO's have done a better than good job of promoting IITs and IIMs!

IITs and IIMs are not gimmicks but Brand Names that command respect all over the world!

But if these OBCs get out and represent these Institutes, they will definitely undo the reputation of these institutes!

Anybody who needs reservations to get into these institutes, will definitely not be able to live upto its standards, internally or otherwise!!

Today sheltering and promoting business bring harm rather than doing good to any organization. More diversed organization perform well than homogenous organization.

Then suitable decisions will naturally follow. Then these guys will go to PSU companies again under reserved quotas, and retire from there into Old Age Homes again under reserved category.
