This Mr. Burney is an interesting man who can do a lot for India-PAk relations it seems to me. Very different from the usual hard-headed Pak politicians who almost never concede anything.

India needs to try the stick

Carrot and stick go together to ensure success. Now that India has been magnanimous, it is time to bring out the long stick for Pakis. India should stop issuing all visas to pakis, who are too eager to visit India because of financial and family reason. Pakis have religiously cleansed their country by driving out almost all non-muslims. There are hardly any Indian traveling to Pakistan. Stopping visa will get the issue across.

Yes, Expect Hindus of Pakistan.

Hindus in pakistan wants to visit the Holy places of their faith which is not available in that islamic Country.
So issue visas to Pakistani Holy tourists but keep an eye on them. its easy to infiltrate in to India by giving this reason.
However Muslim pro UPA govt will never do that mistake! This can happen only in our dreams!!

Oh come on! Holding a person prisoner for no reason is uncivilized and a burden on the exchequer. Recall that after the 1971 war the sheer number of Pakistan Army prisoners of war in India made the Government release them as a humanitarian gesture.

"sheer number of Pakistan Army prisoners of war in India made the Government release them as a humanitarian gesture."

I dont think it was the hugeness of the number that made them release them. Making a positive gesture to ease tension was the real reason for Indira Gandhi. Otherwise, they could have just as easily kept back a more manageable 100 of them as ransom during the negotations. But they did not.
