Why Hogenakkal Drinking Water project came in need??
by Freedom on Apr 05, 2008 02:33 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

As Bangalore and other smaller cities realase gallons of polluted waste water into its nearby water bodies, the underground water and small rivers strectching into North-Western TN is severly polluted giving no chance for the people there to use the water from this resources.

Even this Hokenakkal project is suppose to be implemented as alternative drinking water supply to this AFFECTED poor North-Western TN districts.

So who the culprit here???

karnataka is no issues provided the project is carried out wel within TN rather than disputed land on border. Y has is chosed the border which is still in dispute and there is no clear line differentiating TN and karnataka.

No the place is well with in TN border.Still karnadaka can't use that place for a drking water project nor for any thing.Think indian dn't get misguided by ppl like vattal nagaraj who needs vilonce. We need each other/.
Unfortunatly our country is formed artificially by striching different cultures and laungague.
Stage has come now to make it even stronger rather than loosing.good air to breath, water to drink n place to saty for our country people is not available???god save us.

There is no good or bad where politicians are at play!
by VASUDEVAN V on Apr 05, 2008 02:18 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This putting on hold by Karunanidhi is simply to help Congress in the forthcoming elections in Karnataka and has nothing to do with the violence in both the States. Our politicians are only interested in their own gains and Congress would have begged with Karunanidhi to hold off till the Karnataka elections, so that their prospects are not spoilt. It is similar to the Ram Sethu project - put it on hold till the next General elections, as otherwise Congress stands to lose heavily. Does Karunanidhi means to say that after the elections there will be no violence? The fact is there will be violence so long as our politicians, film stars, film stars turned politicians and politicians turned film stars fish in troubled waters for their personal gains. And Indian politicians and film stars (example, Aamir Khan and the Olympic Torch)look at only their personal gains, unless the person on the other side is Narendra Modi in which case every one comes together to malign him!

There is no responsible person to hear & use his brain now to solve it .... so v need to wait till election get over & a new CM...

I am as much for good news as you are. The fact is violence is created by the politicians, stopped by the politicians or continued by the politicians to suit their personal gains. But for the politicians, none of the problems ailing our country will crop up. Any problem, and you see a politician behind it. The very statement of Karunanidhi makes it obvious. Finally, everyone stop blaming BJP for everything. Congerss has ruled this country and many of the States for more than 40 to 45 years, DMK has ruled TN on and off since 1967 and so on. Then why pick on BJP only for every violence created by others also. Even when BJP was nowhere in the picture in Karnataka, there was violence over Cauvery waters and Tamil were attacked!

Yes Vasudevan, BJP only makes this problem to this much big and tried to get gain over coming elections by dividing the peoples by lanuages. So to avoid the defeat of Congress who is partner in center , they postponed it
anything you want vasudevan ?

It is your DMK which is dividing TamilNadu on basis of politics... It does not consider a segment of Tamils to be Tamilians. Why?

B'cos that one segment of people does not consider the remaining 90% Tamil people as human beings at all.

Take the case singing in Tamil in Chithambaram Temple which is built by a Tamil King

Prakash Raj and Prabhudeva are Tulus, not kannada speakers
by Freedom on Apr 05, 2008 02:13 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Only Murli and Arjun are kannda linguals.

only 55% of total karnataka population speak kannada as first language according to last 1980 lingual based population census. The rest are telugus(Indigenous), marathis(Indigenous), tamils(Indigenous), tulus(Indigenous), malayalis, hindi.

you are a fool dude,
so what if Prakash Raj and Prabhudeva are Tulus they know Kannada very well and the only reason they went to TN film industry is because of money and fame just like how software engineers go to US for money and fame, but many software engineers still remain Indian citizens and even when they become US citizens are still Indian at heart. So just chill dude and stop divinding people on the basis of language.

Nobody is talking about the good that will come from this project
by Sharad on Apr 05, 2008 02:05 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Everybody is looking at the narrow interests only. Nobody is talking about the good that will come out of this project, the POWER THAT WILL BE GENERATED, and good it will cause for the people and the industry. The water is not going to vanish into thin air. It will be still used as usual. What's the beef?

You are new one to this forum. Anyway we are welcome you. This project for drinking water . Krishnakiri and Dharmapuri are one of 2 districts in Tamilnadu which have too much cholrine in their gorund water. The teeth of that economically backward peoples become Yellow due to the cholorine and lot of bone oriented disease also they are facing.
Kaveri is passing through tamilnadu and mixed with sea. the Place Hogenakkal is in elevated area over these 2 districts, so water will pass by gravitation force. Where as Mettur is low lying area and they cannot pump it to much distance and too much elevation difference. The Cauveri river once again entered the karnataka after it crossing tamilnadu at Hogenakkal. The project will consume only 1.4 TMC per annum and tamilnadu accepted to deduct from its annual relaease from karanataka.
But some few less kannada peoples are starting rowdisom against tamil assets to gain in coming election.
This is issue.
It is not power project.
Drinking water for economically poored peoples and financing by Japan govt.
