Also the other day there was a comment made by the SRI SRI RAVI SHANKAR (ART OF LIVING) that the Ramayana and Mahabharata are 'itihaasa' (history) i.e. real events that actually took place while the Puranas are myths.. i.e. fables or allegories to teach certain truths... now he may not be knowing that the story of Rama is also given in the Puranas... so is it a myth or a itihaaasa????? well... the so called Gurus, they themselves do not know anything other than duping the people....

Puranas are as much a reality as Itihasas.
Of the Puranas, Srimad Bhagvatam is the jewel of knowledge, full of Bhakti.
It is like, i want golden egg but i dont want to feed the hen. SO let me cut its throat and keep getting the eggs for free. This is not possible. Similarly the transcendental knowledge includes Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, Samhitas, Itihasas etc. Accepting one and rejecting other wont give u golden egg of Supreme transcendental knowledge.

Also, Ram was helpless when his wife was kidnapped and to get his wife back he made an agreement with Sugriva that he would kill his elder brother, the Vanara king Bali and give the throne to him if he agrees to use his army to help Rama find Sita. Rama is God. He can do anything. He can kill the whole universe. Can you question God? Sita mata is not an ordinary lady. She is the expansion of internal pleasure potency of God. Rama is plenary expansion of God. They come here and perform human like activities, called lilas.
Why their act is lila while ours is not? Because we are conditioned. If you are thirsty you must drink water otehrwise u will die. But God is not conditioned like that. If he wishes, he can drink the whole ocean at a time and remain without water for 100 years. He is not bound. He is independent and He is free to do anything at His will. Thats why He is God.
Actually Ravan and Kumbhakaran are Jay and Vijay. They were great devotees of Vishnu. As they committed an offense to the four kumaras, they had to take birth as Ravan and Kumbhakaran. They desired to be killed by Lord himself. So just to fulfill their desire, Sita mata was kidnapped and Rama played a human like pastime of rescuing Sita. In reality, Sita and Rama are completely independent. Just by a blink of Sita mata's eye, thousands of Ravanas may die. But she didnt do this. Why? To fulfillt he desires of their devotees.

Version 1: As per Shiv Maha Puran 5.2.3 when Visnu tries to subdue Narada's ego by making his face look like a monkey Narad curses him "You too would suffer due to separation from your wife, during your incarnation of Ram and the monkey would come to your help."
Version 2: As Shiv Maha Puran 2.126 Vishnu takes the guise of Vrinda's husband and lives with her for a long time. One day, she came to know about the real identity of the person, who was impersonating as her husband. Realizing that her chastity has been breached, she cursed lord Vishnu by saying that just as he had played a deceitful trick with her in the same way somebody would deceitfully abduct his wife and he too would wander in her search. After cursing lord Vishnu, Vrinda embraced death by entering into the fire.

please do not mis-spell names that you don't no. I thing you are referring to lord Ganesh (aka Ganpati). It's true that Krishna, Ganesh, Shiva, Vishnu, Lakshmi, Durga and other 64000 gods influence our collective hindu pysche and there is no denying that without them hinduism would have been poorer, Lord Ram is the only one who was also a ruler, who extablishehed the standards of morality and responsibility. The first ruler in collective human history to defer to unjust wishes of the citizenery and in the process, committed an involuntary unjustice to his wife and two children. As a husband and father, he was aware of Mata Sita's innocence, but at the same time, being the ruler and judge, he cannot act as their witness and have to gave in to the unjust demands of the public - Something that is also a drawback in Demmocracy. You talk as if you are generously conceding. All religions I know already allow others to visit their places of worship. I am an Atheist. I went to churches and temples with friends as they prayed. Nobody asked me my religion and stopped me.

Yes. He is our God. And He is not only ours, but your God also. The only difference is you have become forgetful of him and we have not. What to speak of us, He is the God of animals, plants, mountains, rivers... He is the God of entire cosmic manifestation. WHY? You talk about 16000 wives? ha ha .. Krishna's body is not made of bile, mucus, bones like us. He is sac-cid-ananda. He is eternal, unborn, adi-purusa. He is the supersoul, and whatever living entities we see around are His part and parcels. We are all sould, we are also eternal but because we are in material world, we have to change bodies which is called birth and death transition. But our real position is that of an eternal life with Krishna in the spiritual kindom where there is no birth and death. When we achieve that stage through bhakti, it is called liberation. Those 16000 wives were great sages in their past life who did tapasya for hundreds of years. They desired Lord as their husband in their next birth and Lord fulfilled their desire. Each queen of Krishna had each palalce so total 16000 palaces. Lord expanded Himself as 16000 and was present in each palace in His original form at the same time. Can you do this? Can you expand yourself to 16000? This is difference between us and God.

To Anone: Also, Krishna is a God by birth. He was born as four-handed Vishnu with auspicious marks on his feet. When Devaki requested Him to take a form of an ordinary child, He did so so that fools like you dont question how God can take birth. Actually God never takes birth, He simply comes and goes at His own will.
Anyway, He killed putana at such a small age when a child doesnt even opens his eyes. And the mercy? Putana immediately achived liberation. Tjough she came to 'so-calle' kill Krishna, but because she feeded milk to Krishna, she achieved liberation. This is God's mercy. Can you give anyone liberation? Are you capable? You are yourself bound by Maya, what you can do except questioning the supernatural inconceivable activities of God?

He says in Bhagvatam 'even if someone sincerely understands and succeds in understanding even one of my lilas out of the millions one, then such a person is sure to get rid of this cycle of birth and death and come back to me'.

But if you live if fear of "hell" as ahs been drilled into your brain, then you cannot think about all of this.
So, why don't you start with trying to get some verification of this "eternal hell" or make-beleive "heaven" that you are promised and then try to understand that you are not sperate from the Lord and that he can see you COMPLETLY NAKED and he does not need to take what is already his(speaking of the wives or your approval)
My fellow Indians, We have been taught wrongly that the british adopted the policy of Divide and rule. We were purposly divided by Brahmins, a small sect of community, who had approved the casts by sighning for God. With the educational and media boom, they still can not cheat India, by talking of hinduism and simulteanously running abroad. There is no salvation to this land which had driven Budhdha, out of this land. What the Indian history has recorded 2500 years back, is forgotten. It's very true....Brahmins were the mastermind of the caste system. The reason for the sorry state of India and the sorry state of the masses is the brahmins. The British saved India and the masses from the evil brahmins...!!! Thanks to them...!!!
