As BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad was quick to observe the affidavit had been filed by the Union Government's Ministry of Culture, which was under senior Congress leader Ambika Soni.
"So far, we thought opposition to Ram Setu was primarily from the Union Minister for Surface Transport and Shipping TR Balu, who represents the DMK in the ruling alliance," he said.
Interestingly, Balu's Ministry had already filed an affidavit in the apex court in connection with the same case on Monday.
But that affidavit confined itself to stating that there was no scientific evidence proving that Ram Setu was a man-made bridge.
The latest affidavit filed by a Ministry under the charge of Congress leader Ambika Soni went beyond this and challenged the historicity of the characters and events in the entire gamut of the Ram pantheon itself.

This is called "devil quoting scriptures". You better limit your blabber to koran. You wouldn't like others to comment on it.
It is our belief that when God takes human birth, he behaves like a human and does not boast about his divine qualities.
Inspite of yugas/centuries passing by ,the name of Ram/Rahim and Jesus are reverred all over the globe.,Does any one require the evidence of their existance..Ignorance is no excuse and we are ignorant of the existance of These people but in a democracy and personnel laws are all driven by the faith.,The so called non-believer of god Mr.Karunanidhi goes to a temple to thank god for bringing him back to power..,Whether they existed or not but the sentiments of crores of people does exist, hence we should respect it.
I am a Muslim woman married to a longtime Hindu boyfriend. We have two kids whom we teach both Ramayan and the Holy Quran. Why we make out too much of nothing? Ram was and will always remain a great character, so was Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and so were all great prophets and saints. If the government has already withdrawn its affidavit... why then abuse one another...

Its not a question of withdrawal of an affidavit maa'm. Its a question of lopsided attitude of the government towards a faith. This has been a policy of the congress to divide people by creating religious controversies. Remember the constitutional ammendment done by Rajiv gandhi to deny a muslim woman her rights to divorce aluminy? (The famous shahabano case). To slap us on our face and then say 'sorry' is just not right. It hurts. There is no law against blashphemy in our country. If it is needed for economic reasons to make the sea deep at Setubandha, the Government should do it. But to question the very existance of Lord Rama, by our own Government makes Hinduism a laughing stalk in the whole world. What is that religion, whose elected representatives themselves consider it as folklore or myth? Already Hinduism is looked down upon as a culture of idol worship. Now if our own Government swears in its apex court through an affidavit that Rama is nothing but a mythical figure then whole world will call us Pagan on our face. My opinion is that if you need to reconstruct something at the setubandha, go ahead but please dont hurt our feelings. Is this because our country has a sikh prime minister?

The problem in our country is that Hindus are not united as much as the so-called minorities as represented by you are. You are calling Shri Ram a "character". I am sure you will not have the courage to call your prophet (who always appears to suffer from lack of peace that all you characters have to say PBUH whenever you take his name) a character. Mind your language C. Will you call your PBUH a character? Before you start preaching us, learn your language right. "Character" is a derogatory word whether it is prefixed with great or small. Sh...
Why Sonia came into picture? Is it she is trying to prove that she beleaves in Hinduism. I think this f*cking law minister should be kicked out. This law minister is controlling even CBI.
