Why are some idiots on this forum linking this to religion? Government is doing from the trade point of view and not to please muslims. For that BJP has already done enough. As for Sethusamudram project I am not against it but this should be the last resort. Ram Setu is not only important from religious point of view but also from historical point of view. Some thousands of years ago, prince of Ayodhya, Ram with the help of his friends built it to cross sea to reach Land. Isn%u2019t it enough a reason not to destroy it and have a thorough scientific research to prove this piece of history? Just imagine the time when Europeans were living like nomads and barbarians, here in India there was a bridge being built. Someone crossed some thousand miles from Ayodhya to Sri Lanka.
So don%u2019t give religion bullshit, see it as a part of Indian history.

One of the Central Minister from TN is hell bent on this project considering the amount of money he can make out of this project. Do you know how many trailres the Minister owns that are operated in the Ports in TN? Only to benifit his kitty.

i think this bridge is a scientific marvel and needs to be studies more properly, than to be just destroyed.
also, i do feel that UPA, in order to show it more secular, is taking this ridiculous step.
if this is just a natural sedimentation, please let me know some more of such similar examples in earth.
The news item publisshed here is one sided and the discussion going on is also lack of facts. Please let us have a scientific look of Ram sethu. As far as i know from the articles and research papers that there is millions tonnes of Thoronium present around the place which can be used in neuclar fuel, which will be cheaper and continious available as against USA agreement. The Tsunami is controlled by Ram sethu. The Species found around Ram sethu are unique and are not availabe anywhere in the world. which helps fishermen in the area and also ecological balance. last but not the least the canal proposed to be constructed will not help any big ships or revenue. This will only help small ships. These are the some of the reason why many scientiests, Environmentalists etc. are against breaking the Ram Sethu and construction of canal. I request rediff not give one sided news and publish all the facts about the sethu to enable readers to judge themselves.
Jaipur: 12.30 PM This is disgusting that every few days these so called leaders come out with one or another way to disrupt the system & make common man's life more miserable. I had an urgent appointment to seek medical advise from a senior Doctor in Ahemdabad today and had sceduled flight from Jaipur to Ahmedabad today at 10.00 AM. On the way to Airport, my car was stopped by these so called 'Dharm Rakshaks' and I was not allowed to go inspite of repeated requests & showing them Air tickets. Result: I missed the flight and lost Rs 30,000/- as to & fro air tickets besides time loss and inconvenience. Just a question to the national organisers of this movement ( if they really care for we - the ordinary people) :- Can any of you realise the inconvenience,pain & agony the general man is facing because of such acts? I know these activities are a part of generating vote bank for future elections but I am sure that people like me who suffered ( and I believe most of us who work in some office, shops or earn daily bread suffered today)are definitely not going to vote for you. Its a shame upon you.
American says It is Adam Bridge, Adam is the first human being who came to this world millions of years before and he was very tallest person.
Now Hindus says it is ram sethu which was constructed by ram 4000 years back.
There is a lot of difference between millions and couple of thousands.

According to Almighty(Creator,Sustainer)he sent animals,birds & etc to benefit human beings and he gave the power to earth to produce trees and otherstuff to benifit Human Beings.

Mr.Ali, Why Adam has to come to India for constructing the bridge. The Indian civilisation is pretty old and has its footprints which are eminent. In fact, man always look for comfort and easiness. By the time he realises his folly he is on the verge of non-recovery or collpase. The same is happening in the world every where. All leading to destruction and end. The setu too which was built by Lord Ram for good. The act of removal will pave way for something bad later which is unknown now.
Hindus are the word geenrated by English men. Infact, in india the sanathana dharma (otherwise hindusim which we call now) is way of lif and peaceful living.
This Ramar Sethu has been shown to be the pre human structure, called tombol, a sand deposition due to natural process. The Geological Survey of India ruled out its being the manmade (or monkey made), construction. Same way the inference from NASA satellite pictures is that it is due to sedimentation of clay and lime stone. It is tombol in NASA language, connecting one land with another, and that it is from times when human habitation is impossible.
Tradition goes that the Kaaba was ordained by Allah to be built in the shape of the House in Heaven called Baitul Ma%u2019amoor. Allah in his infinite Mercy ordained a similar place on earth and Prophet Adam was the first to build this place. The Bible, in the Chapter of Genesis describes its building when God ordained Abraham to erect a Shrine for worship when Abraham was ordered to go to the Southern desert with his wife Hagera and infant son Ismael. The Old Testament describes this building as the Shrine of God at several places, but the one built at Ma%u2019amoor is very much similar to the one at Makka. There is no doubt that it was referring to the stone built house at Makka.
Qora%u2019an brought this story into the full light of history. In Sura 3 Verse 90 Qora%u2019an says %u201CAllah has spoken the Truth, therefore follow the creed of Ibrahim, a man of pure faith and no idolater%u201D. The first house established for the people was at Makka, a Holy place and a guidance to all beings. Qora%u2019an firmly establishes the fact that Ibrahim was the real founder of the Holy Shrine.

dont wnat to accept anything else.. learn what is in your nation and not just blindly follow the Arabic tribal practice.
