i don't know Dr GopalKrishan is communist or not. But i know many of our former seientist had suffered because of american sanctions and they have not forgiven american for that nor have they forgotten that and many a time that feeling effect judgement.
This article is one of best articles on deal 123.Congrats to author for bringing out everything in the article in the right perspective and in a balanced manner. I expect the politicians and journalists should understand the ground realities and shall not oppose the deal for the sake of opposing.Let us create an environment wherein progressive policies of government are supported and right signal goes to the world community.
Anyone who reads the record or the more responsible media accounts (not just biased and hyped items in the popular press) knows that Tom Lantos was one of the principal authors of the legislation supporting the agreement, and that he worked hard to win Congressional backing for it. To accuse him now of being a hindrance or "less than honorable" is ignorant and unfair. Please do your homework next time!

As the Hindu contractors sell out poor Hindus, Muslim contractors also selling Muslim poor. Muslim League Minister E. Ahmed sleeps on 123 agreement with George Bush. George Bush's money is much tastier than hot cake.
The author chooses to look at only portions of the 123 agreement which seem favorable to India. Unfortunately none of these portions are legally binding on the US. The US has no legal obligation to restore N supplies in case of disruption, no requirement to permit reprocessing. However all conditions unfavorable to India are legally binding. The IAEA safeguards are perpetual, even though the deal may be terminated for no reason at all. There is no arbitration provision, all material has to be handed over to the US whenever it wishes to take it back. At least one assertion of the Author is correct, india depends solely on trust and nothing in writing whereas all of India's committments are based on legal obligations, no trust here!
