by Arjan Jethani on Sep 11, 2007 10:28 PM  Permalink

While the courts are keen to take action against the media, for the slightest trangression even against ex Judges, they are very indulgent towards the police ... all contempt of court cases by the police are excused... Read a classic case...at...

Mid-Day guilty of Contempt?
by Bodh Ramdeo on Sep 11, 2007 08:48 PM  Permalink

What exactly are the SC justices afraid of? If they feel their reputation has been unjustly tarnished, they always have legal recourse of suing for libel.
So why the contempt ruling, if not to seek to intimidate and muzzle the 'fourth estate' into subservience - at the mercy of the whims of the SC justices? Is this the 'democracy' this nation so loudly boasts of at every international forum? Seems more a sham democarcy!

lesson for media
by prashant kalantri on Sep 11, 2007 12:37 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is good lesson for media, which now a days has been a trying to judge each and everything, on unnecessary topics for the country, it is wasting time, like how much punishment sanjay dutt should get, or salman should get? at all the times they are writing he is corrupt , just they forget that moe than 90 % of the media persons/owners are sheer blackmailers. even if justice sabarwal has done wrong/ favoured somebody or gained himself, media pepoles are just spreading the news for there gains and not in public interest

Shah Rukh
Amir Khan
Sohail Khan
Fardeen Khan
Zaid Khan
Emran Hashmi
Hirthik Roshan marry Muslim, and convert himself

Islam number 1.

What is wrong in sealing drive in Delhi?
by Abhishek Jain on Sep 11, 2007 12:18 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Even if Ex-CJI's sons were involved in developing malls and that was the reason for Ex-CJI to take action against illegal malls in delhi, what is wrong in that? I mean whatever be the motive for Ex-CJI to order the illegal shops to close down, isn't it something which should have been done anyway? Otherwise, you will have people opening shops on Ring Road and Rajpath and you would be able to do nothing. The illegal shops must be closed down at any cost....!!

Holy Cow!
by Synicle on Sep 11, 2007 12:03 PM  Permalink

Whenever a newspaper publishes an article against a politician or a bureaucrat, the courts take suo moto notice of the report and start taking action. But whenever someone points out something is rotten in the courts, the same court becomes a holy cow.

We have seen this being played out many times before. Judges have no accountability. The media is scared of being jailed. After all only the courts can jail people.

We all know what happened to the people who exposed corruption in Gujarat judiciary, scandals in Karnataka and Delhi. No one wants the truth.

None of it is rumour mongering - the people in important positions are doing far worse than what is reported. So if some of them do get into trouble due to false reporting - that would be just fine !
