The four flyovers coming up at Panjagutta, Greenlands, Nalgonda cross-roads and Chandrayanagutta will not only have good design aesthetics, but also offer riding quality and built-in anti-terrorist features, say officials of the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad.

Additional Commissioner N.V.S. Reddy (Traffic & Transportation) says the new flyovers' construction would be of the highest standard and "it would not be easy to plan any sabotage" using them.

"With the terror threat looming large globally new construction strategies are being adopted for infrastructure. We have incorporated the same into flyovers so that they can withstand high pressure," he avers.

Fast work

The MCH aims to complete a significant portion of the work before the Asian Development Bank meeting to be held here in May since vast sections of roads on the flyover route have been widened.

The Panjagutta flyover will be a `combination' one and have a length of 1.7 km as it jumps over four junctions at a very short distance of 4 km. It will be a pre-cast girder segmental construction.

You're wrong!
They only said that these new age flyovers can withstand RDX, TNT etc. But did they say that they can withstand terrorist's farts or their pee? They didn't. So they can very well collapse if any stronger wind than a terrorist's fart or any extra water poured than a terrorist's pee! The rain and the wind today are abnormal so they can very well collapse!
So you are not justified in criticising these authorities (sic)!

DOESNT MATTER TO CONGRESS POLITICAL STATUS
by santosh srivastav on Sep 10, 2007 12:48 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

People who are posting thr messages in this board are mostly literates and sensible except few unfortunates.

Most of us know tht it is State GOVT failure for umpteenth time....

my dear friends we are not major decision makers in elections, though we are part of the process the major vote bank is

Minorities and Rural population.

unfortunately both these groups are mostly illeterates and can be easily driven with fake promises which these dumbos believe in....

And YSR party is making thr best to keep these communities happy...

I dont need to say hw they use minorities by offering reservations and many other.....in rural also they are doing fairly well with INDIRAMMA PATHKAM kind of schemes....

So I feel tht cong will not be hampered with these....

YOUR COMMENTS AWAITED

NEXT COLLAPSE WILL BE THE BEGUMPET FLYOVER!
by Kabeer on Sep 10, 2007 12:45 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I was horrified of late at the vibrations the Begumpet flyover produced even when no heavy vehicle running over it! Am afraid of its structural strength!

Worse, flyovers are built to ease traffict at the perpendicular X crossings. But all the flyovers were built on the Begumpet-Secbad road where no major X crossings present. It's a waste of public money because it just wasted the road space below with the occupation of the pillars and those stupid greenery watered even in summer when no drinking water is available to the citizens! In Hyderabad not long ago water supply was only for 6 months in a year (alternate day supply!)But they have water to waste on these plants at kilometre long dividers! In Hyderabad summer, the water poured just gets evaporated in minutes! Its citizens do not have water to drink but Naidu wants to impress foreigners with greenery on dividers! It just elevated the below road space to above. Even those flyovers are so narrow and only God knows whether one can expand in future if the need arises!

There is a dire need for flyovers at Ameerpet, Punjagutta Jns where traffic nightmares are heavy but there are no flyovers there!

BLAME IT ON NAIDU's STUPIDITY TO BUILD THESE AND I DON'T KNOW WHO MADE MONEY ON ALL THESE VENTURES!

dude flyovers are must yaar...its basic purpose is to avoid traffic and it does.

Yeah even I observed they were not fully utilised but fairly required yaar for the future (if at all they withstand)

By the way the water used for plants under the flyover is from Tank BUND.....

True! Flyovers are a necessity of a modern urban townplanning-but build them where they are necessary and even spend twice the amount that you spent. At the time of the first flyovers on Begumpet-Secbad there were no traffic jams except a couple of signals. Now what are they doing? Widening the roads there as it flyovers didn't really help. Had they done it at the first place they could have saved the money and use it elsewhere. Even at that time there were huge traffic jams at Ameerpet Jn,Punjagutta Jn, Greenlands Jn and elsewhere. Flyovers should have been built over there first! I know why they were not built there-it means at that time relocating some shops which the Administration didn't want to antagonise. Begumper-Secbad was easy but a waste of money.

Regarding water, you need basic water to process to make it potable. Even Manjira water needs processing. There is no dearth of processing facilities but lack of basic water in H2O form. In spacecrafts urine of astronauts is reprocessed and made potable for astronauts. Even tank bund water can be processed to make it potable instead of wasting it there where it gets evaporated just in a couple of minutes at 42 celsius.

cant the brigde stand for 2 hour rain?
by chandu chidara on Sep 10, 2007 12:34 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If the home minister doesnt even have the common sense that "water-logging for 2 hours is the cause for collapse, then how does the bridge stand for years to come with traffic-logging". God save this Andhra Pradesh. This YSR's government ministry is full of people with sh*t in their brains.

Hyderabad in an utter mess at present
by cool sun on Sep 10, 2007 12:19 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This Govt. has become a highly irresponsible and unparadonably corrupt in every fields. Common man are scared to go out on roads now: first because of bomb scare, then because of the missing RDX, now from these kind of haphazard deadly flyovers or bridge constructions. The authorities HUDA/MCH/the builders/contractors, politicians whoever responsible for these mess should be prosecuted in no time. The builder lobby is so powerful it cuts across all political parties. No matter how many fly over collpses, or buliding collapses, or apartment collpses, nothing will happen to these buliders. They'd be held accountable for this.
This city is in a virtual death trap. God knows only how long this city will run like this in such a chaotic conditions prevailing everywhere.
Either you ll be killed by Human Bombs from terrorists/naxalites or by HUDA approved bombs from these builders or contractors!!!

Pseudo-Secular governments
by animesh kumar on Sep 10, 2007 12:12 AM  Permalink

Pseudo Secular governments have only one agenda. Promote Islam or Christianity on the name of backward-ness of these races. Both these races are dominating the world, and it is unclear to me why they are backward in India despite their free status in democracy.

AP CM is busy ordering a Church at Tirupati, acquiring temple money for christian upliftment (WOW democracy! WOW secularism!) and then this flyover falls. Reason: heavy rains. Again wow! Don't you have engineers or IIT Professors to comment on this issue? Go there, media! Go to IITs and get us the real reason.

If an engineering failure happens in the US, media goes to professors. Politicians don't know y = f(x) or Mechanics of Solids.

Hight time migration to hyderabad is stopped and instead other towns and cities in A.P are devoloped.
infrastructure in Hyderabad just cannot take the heavy influx of migrants
