guys if u have read hyde act it will be easy to form an opinion, well i have read , this deal links india's foreign policy with USA interest n says the co operation will continue as long as india shows good behaviour, i don understand what this good behaviour is ? just becoz the cmmies r oppossing this deal right wing rediff bloggers r supporting the deal but i feel it will be better to go without it.

Dear lancer, if you have read the act then you either missed the point or wrongly understood it, yes they want good behavior but did you read the procedure that is involved in canceling the deal, the process they have to follow, the conditions that have to be explicitly be declared and accepted before they can cut the deal, the time frame give for the cancellation, our response, our counter response and so and so. If they go by the act I don't think they will be able to walk away easily for anything other than a A-bomb test. And as you have read the act you will know they have listed the terms that they expect us to do, i wish to know what you find bad in it?

dear prasad, i really do not like the sentence by hyde who says india should make its foreign policy inline with usa.

Dear lancer Yes very true, I too don't like it(he did not explicitly stated it but you made it explicit lol, you have a sharp mind), but do you think anyone will offer it for free? and take a look at the positive side of this act, if we get the deal, get the NSG accept to our conditions along with IAE, we will be able to get even better deal then this from Russia, France, at least for this we have to get his deal through. And as you have read it you should be aware of the procedure they have to follow in cancellation and I again state they will not be able to walk away that easily. I am happy that you read it :)
Why don't the government make this deal public.. What is the fear to expose it... We will surely someday come to know of some Scandal running behind this deal... Absolutely no doubt about this... Sonia wouldn't be caught as she would safely land in Italy... We would rub our hands and fight with each other thereafter...

deal is public from past two years...US has given you internet..go to google.com and search and read yourself....we are in a democratic country..stop behaving like a 3 years old kid...

I know what is there on Google.. details of general Treaty... And the treaty don't seem to be impressive, as it gives away the authorities to US in terms of independent usage of nuclear capabilities... Once, into the deal, nowhere can we break it.. as it would be a breach of trust... Thus, must think twice before we leap...
What seems to be a 3 years old kid question to you is an incomplete vision - why are we so weak to depend on US for smallest of capabilities - how many airplanes are built in India, how many computes are built in India - why are we so backward - is my question - you will never get - you want to run behind - not lead...

"Once, into the deal, nowhere can we break it.. as it would be a breach of trust" -- no true...and also if you don't want it where were you when it was in making from past two years....
we are backward because we don't have values...we are not weak...we are insecure...we are among the least learned people in the world...
if you want to lead then stop having the food that comes from Green revolution a technology funded US to remove world hunger...

i don't think you read the correct one, if you want you can get the act details of "United States-India Peaceful Atomic Energy Cooperation Act" with reference number H.R.5682. And regarding aircrafts built in India i would be glad to know the details, and regarding computers does your computer run Intel or AMD processor?

American leaders showed the way of income in US Dollar. Conversion rate is 39 now! Leadership started to work with Manmohan Singh.
Let the people of the nation rise against the anti national congress, who are compromising with the security of the country... allowing Christian conversions, terrorist movements, and now selling the national policies to US in the name of treaty... Is Abdul Kalam a dumb person to declare that we can very well do with Thorium and dealing for Uranium is not required... It seems Congress leaders are more Scientific than Kalam, more intelligent than Vivekanand and more secular than Mahatma Gandhi who lived with the chant of 'Rama'... Security of the nation comes first.. whithout which all progress would fail..
RE:congress is bad
by Krishna Prasath on Oct 30, 2007 07:58 PM Permalink
Your argument does not hold water. Thorium technology if independently developed is around 20 years away, and Uranium if you don't mind do a search it will let you know the current mine(product quality) and the uranium deposits in Karnataka and Meghalaya are out of reach due to stupid politics in that case how do you satisfy the energy requirement?
RE:RE:congress is bad
by Chanchal Malviya on Oct 30, 2007 08:07 PM Permalink
I agree that stupid politics have overlooked the Uranium store in our country... But how has this handshaking with US taken shape suddenly.. I know one thing, if you and me were scientists, then Kalam is a stupid person to make a call on our own made energy... A professor scientist from B'lore calls to save half an hour common electic supply and we earn more than we buy from US... No one has capacity to sacrifice... Just the easy way to get things.. Can't we hold our intellectuals to develop parallel technologies within the nation... 60 years after independence, a country with highest population and best intelligence is not even a developed nation - who is faulty - the leaders who ruled the most, of course - and if we do not rise now, another 60 years would be again a waste.. fighting to get some grace from outside...

"But how has this handshaking with US taken shape suddenly."---as noone else is there to shake hand with us ..no countries or neighbour like us...and there is noone left to shake hand with...and it's not suddenly...US used to fund gains in India after independence,,funded IIT-Knaput...Tarapur Reactor, Funded Green Revolution...Giving a N-Deal without we being a reliable country ...and what about the net you are using...
otherss line are bogus..just propose something ...then simply opposing for the sake of opposing..

Chanchal Malviya, I always wanted to avoid third persons in the post, but i have to do it now, Kalam is a scientist but you and me are not stupid either, as a mater of fact we are still to make a 1000MV n-reactor, do you know that? if that is the case how come our people over night will build thorium based reactors? I will tell you a simple example, i work on Fuel Cell based power production, and there is no Fuel Cell available for purchase in India let alone indigenously manufacture it, but if you take a very famous college (i don't to do name calling) they for the past 10 years they are doing research and claim they will build it in a year or 2(for the past 5 years) but still I(or anyone)yet to see at lest a full research product from them. If this is the sorry state of research in very famous college, I don't understand how we will be able fulfill the power requirement with such a poor R&D infrastructure?

Chanchal Malviya How come people like you did say when we singed friendship treaty with the sovietunion. They controlled our foregin policies and defence back in Mrs.Gandhi's days. What about the Communists of India. They openly supported China when that country invaded India. When did US invaded India? US is a free and democratic nation like India. Security of the nation needs stong friends and allies. Not the weak and back stabbers.

how congress is compromising with the security of the country?...
Allowing christian conversion -- religion is a private affair..and we are democratic and secular ....conversion is allowed..
terrorist movements -- how you can stop it..do you think if we provide you 100 crore people security you would be safe?..
what national policies are being sold in the name od treaty?
we would be well of with thorium...but where is thorium technology?...
"It seems Congress leaders are more Scientific than Kalam, more intelligent than Vivekanand and more secular than Mahatma Gandhi who lived with the chant of 'Rama'" --- thats's irrational, unscientific and a dump line...

-If religious conversion is private affair, christians should not disturb Hindus. Your freedom ends where my nose begins. But, with respect to Christian conversions, they keep breaking the Hindu noses, and call it freedom? Why shoud Christian missionaries keep reaching all vulnerable people and converting them by using the poverty, etc. Why should Christians kill Hindus for refusing to convert? (Type "Goa Inquisition" into Google and you would know how barbaric Christians can be for conversion purposes whenever possible; By the way, Goa Inquisition information is removed from all the text books in India; so, the only source now is Internet)
-Terrorist movements: You stop it my arresting and convicting the criminal. But, Congress encourages terrorism just because they are muslims. Example, Congress repealed POTA, signalling to Muslim terrorists that they would be better off, with Sonia/Congress. Next, Sonia/Congress ensure that the person who plotted to kill our parliamentarians is protected, just because he is a Muslim (Yes, I am talking about Afzal Guru). I can give 101 things done by Sonia/Congress to give out messages to Muslims that their terrorism is subtly encouraged for getting their votes
-National policies sold: Several. Prominent one is India is "expected" to vote against Iran. Why the hell should the US tell us this? Because, the US wants to warn that any "wrong" vote will mean stoppage of fuel -We do have enough thorium tech to develop power

terrorist movement - if you do not know how to stop it, then no need to lead the nation.. there are people who are doing everything to stop it... Gujarat has stopped it, for your information - and Congress is doing everything to ensure that Gujarat, the richest state of the nation should become one of the victims of Terrorists organizations... You will not understand..because you live in the arrogance of western literacy.. For you Kashmir is never an issue, as Hindus die there, Godhra is never an issue as Hindus die there, but Riot following Godhra will always be an issue - because Muslims died there... The day will come, when your Children would see more Kashmirs around and the look for Visa to some country where this is not happening...

I don't remember when gujarat was having a terrorust movement...there is no terrorism in MP, rajasthan, adaman , daman, pondichery...
"Congress is doing everything to ensure that Gujarat, the richest state of the nation should become one of the victims of Terrorists organizations." -- can you prove this statement in court...
"For you Kashmir is never an issue, as Hindus die there, Godhra is never an issue as Hindus die there, but Riot following Godhra will always be an issue - because Muslims died there" -- why you keep on hallunuciatig things..when I said that...
"The day will come, when your Children would see more Kashmirs around and the look for Visa to some country where this is not happening" -- again your words and not practical stuff

Allowing christian conversion - so it becomes private affair - can this privacy be applied same on christians and Muslims - do christian apply the same on christians - and who drives a human values - religion or politics - religion touches every home - politics touches shrewed and cunning people alone
Terrorist movement - so 100 crore people cannot have security, thus let them die... let the terrorist get in.. great thinking
Why isnt't the effort to upbring thorium technology? Are we do dumb, when a scientist leader is making a call to do it
My statements are not dump.. Your reasoning are.. please think again

"Allowing christian conversion - so it becomes private affair - can this privacy be applied same on christians and Muslims - do christian apply the same on christians" -- I don't know what do you mean..a government has nothing to do with a religion...it's a secular ...
"Terrorist movement - so 100 crore people cannot have security, thus let them die... let the terrorist get in.. great thinking" --- your words not mine...
"Why isnt't the effort to upbring thorium technology? "--- it's still in the nascent stage will get compelte by around 2050 AD....
"Are we do dumb, when a scientist leader is making a call to do it" ---- I know about myself..you decide whether you are dumb or not..whatever yoou have said is hollow..all illusion...
"religion touches every home" -- not true in this world around 20% are atheist..
As a great democratic and responsible Government, Indian should at no cost surrender its sovereignity to pursue independent foreign policies to any big power, may be U.S./USSR. We should however enter into this deal if we are fully satisfied that it is in the interest of the country and for the world peace.
RE:Nucleardeal
by Krishna Prasath on Oct 30, 2007 07:46 PM Permalink
Mr.c I fully accept your view that India as a sovereign state should not surrender its foreign policies to USA, But i don't understand how signing the deal will make it? If you don't mind i like to tell you once this deal gets through we can get NSG give a "GO" sign for nuclear co-operation with us to other members of NSG, with with we will be able to extract the same or better deals. I hope this clears your droughts. And don't think we can convince the NSG by ourself even Russia was not able to do it(remember koodankulam project?).

Krishna Prasath. Dont we have backbone? Egtpt is looking forward to sign similar treaty with the US. It seems you are saying we have no guts to stand up for what we believe. If you dont standup for something, then you will fall for something.
RE:Nucleardeal

raj, we can stand up but what to? do you think we will be able to get any better deal than this? no way, and regarding us having guts, you must be kidding, if we had guts Bangladesh, pakistan, Sri-Lanka, china will not be doing what they do us now. Yes we have to stand up, but we too have to adjust somewhere if we want to get the benefit but i am not saying we have to accept whatever is thrown at us. I don't think our PM did that.
