I think Girish doesn't seem to have enough data or time to decide; We need to be honest in admitting deficieny first & then only we can start think of improvements.
I just wish him to ask what are the good characteristics of city.

TAMILS AND KANNADINGAS SHOULD STOP FIGHTING...
by MGR Fan on Oct 28, 2007 01:55 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

First of all, what happened to Dravidan race theory and all? periyar was shouting about one South Indian race and today DMK supporters are rabid haters of Kannadingas. What a shame on these DMK types?

And ditto applies for Vatal Nagaraj supporters. They are basically casteist feudal types who always talk about Kannada pride etc and that is all only to 1) show their own subcaste power against FCs 2) To spread hatred against tamils.

All this is because we people listen more to politicians like Karunanidhi or Deve Gowda - these kind of politicians will divide and incite hatred because their objective is to install family rule and make the states property of the respective families.

People should be careful and not blindly believe in what leaders utter.

MGR Fan: "People should be careful and not blindly believe in what leaders utter."

This is a very immature & uninformed statement. Before you get angry let me explain. We all know about the Indian masses. 80% of them aren't literate and can't think clearly. So poor uneducated Indian electorate can't analyze what their leaders say, like you and me can. They can only "blindly believe". If you expect your masses to think, analyze and then decide, then unfortunately you are not in tune with reality and are generations ahead. It will take atleast 30-40 years or more for that to happen here.

In fact, that is exactly what makes a great leader in India. A leader here aspires to grow in stature so that their words are believed without getting questioned or analyzed.

In these times, we require a leader who can convince the masses that caste politics is bad, agriculture is a losing profession, reservations will not help, religion based identity doesn't make sense and so on, by cleverly speaking in a language that appeals to both lower, middle and upper classes..

Its a huge ask and a challenge. I am only counting that someone who can accept this challenge is present in some political party in lower ranks and is waiting to get to the limelight.

This can happen in 1 year, not 30... If only the govt or police or any one wit power and influence at his disposal does something... BUt then, if noone does anything, and ppl keep askin when the masses wil think, tis most likely that even after 30 years, Some person like me or you would say that India would develop in another 30 years...

Wonder how people work in a multicultured society and in MNCs
by Fremont Blvd on Oct 27, 2007 05:57 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Some one has written a column totled " Bangalore is the best Indian city I've seen",

For all who dissagree, he may not have seen all Indian cities.

Apparantly this has become like a fight between Tamils and bangaloreans.

Look what happendhere, some one just made a comment bangalore is the best city.

Tamils immdeatly started abusing Kannadigas and

kannadigas abusing Tamils, using all kinda sleazy languages.

I wonder how these freaks work in MNC companies, I guess some of these guys will be IT Pros

When people of our country will think beyond region, language, religion caste etc.

The middle class people always create such issues in India, the poor people, upper middle class, elite class do not care.

Some regular guys in rediff like Senthil Palani, ravi, Murthy, Sameer Bhagwat, Pradip parikh are spitting the poison around here also.

Abusing fellow citizens ??????????????????????????

Good luck guys

QUESTION - CAN DMK WIN A SINGLE ELECTION IN BANGALORE?
by MGR Fan on Oct 25, 2007 11:02 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

DMK claims itself to be a party representing dravidans(all south Indians). Bangalore in a sense is a Melting pot of all 4 South Indian States people - lots of Malayalees, huge number of Telugu people, lots of Tamil immigrants and of course Kannadinga Sons of soil , they all are making Bangalore one wonderful city .

Can DMK win an election in this city? If they cant, why do they still talk about Aryans and Dravidans?

I don't know why DMK talks about Aryans and Dravidians, but sane people need to talk about Aryans. Because Aryans came from foreign lands and after all the other invaders have left, they are still here and are torturing us Indians.

Aryans came from foreign lands? So who exactly is an aryan? The white skinned leaders of DMK and the white skinned dalits like sushilkumar shinde, are they aryans or what?

And biology tells that all humans evolved from monkeys in africa... so did dravidans spring from the talacauvery or the mountains of coorg?

And you have a name Manjula, how come ? Who is torturing who? It is DMK which is torturing and harrasing millions of Tamils in name of race theory... and as for leaving , Anglo Indians and Mughals all are still here and doing fine, maybe you should leave your hatred for a particular caste first

How many tamils or telugu first generation migrants in Bangalore do you think have voting rights? Unless if someone is born here, I don't see any migrant really bothered to get voting rights here..
So I wouldn't consider tamils/telegus i Bangalore making a real difference in terms of electorate. Thats the reason why there is near total absence of mentioning migrants in the election time.
Moreover, I don't think DMK will ever bother to win a seat here. It has 100% tamil identity based roots.

having lived most of my life in hinterlands of UP, MP, Raj...i ve occassionly visited places like banglore, mysore, kochi, chennai. Infact I found chennai as one of the most nicely administered city. The system runs so well there...n may be thats y residents of chennai r so fanatic abt their city n all..coz its quite so perfect and totally in line with the ethos n culture of its residents. When you look at Delhi, pune and for that matter even Banglore, the locals will usually say that their city has changed..may be in its futile attempt to accomodate ppl frm different cultures/regions. If a city wants to become cosmopolitan than such tradeoffs cant be undone. And thats why may be ask any outsider..he ll comment on chennai as xenophobic! But then wats wrong in it??

Still he remembers!!!!about chennai...I hope you require some more from tamilians. Onceagain visit Chennai. You will get bonus shares from tamilian. Where in life time you won't comment on chennai.

Bangalore and the visitors.
by Sivanandan nair on Oct 25, 2007 02:00 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is sure Bangalore is a beautiful city. Every year many visits, professionals, students, politicians, business men and all type of people they visit Bangalore. I myself have visited 3 times so far, in 80s, 90s and early 2002. Being a south Indian I did not find anything more to elaborate and write about Bangalore. I enjoyed my stay for a week long always when I had been to that city.

I lived more in northern cities that in south of India, but I never find any difference in the stay in cities in northern except language, food and some celeberations.

I have travelled out to many countries and worked in diffeerent countries and enjoyed living in different cities and people and never thought of praising a city that I have travelled and abusing a city for their worst arrangements also. Girish I dont know what he wanted to prove, whether he sis afrequent traveller or he travels with foreigners.

All so called educated Norties left or leave north india and settle in b'lore , chennai etc...Its time guys go back to ur place and make ur place a better place ( at least to talk abt).

Keep up your ignorance. There are plenty of Northies not only in Chennai but down south. If you go to Tanjore you will find a lot of Marthies (Marathis ruled Tanjore for a while) and if you go to Madurai, you will find Saurashtrians (There is a college called Saurashtra college in Madurai). If you go to smaller towns, you will find Rajastanis ...Smart people know how to survive, mingle and do well. Some people can only give excuses
