seek NDAs support
by Santosh Parvatikar on Oct 24, 2007 01:13 AM  Permalink

The left has always been against development of the nation, that is why west bengakl is in total shambles rt now, what with continous hartals and now adays even a breeding ground for terrorist thanx to encouragement of infiltration across the border from bangladesh. Now the left is seeking to impose the same anti-development policies throughout then nation by blackmailing the central government. The government should rather seek NDAs support to push the deal throuhg, although this might mean loss of power. The PM who is already perceived as a weak one should prove that he stands for something.

UPA & THE PM
by damodaran mohan on Oct 21, 2007 06:03 PM  Permalink

there is no doubt that in the last few weeks the LEFT more than the BJP have ensured nose diving of image of the UPA govt.; more so of the PM. the best thing for the UPA govt. will be to call for a debate in the winter session of Parliament on Nuke deal followed by voting. let the govt. fall and allow the people to decide in the subsequent election. prolonging this way till 2009 will be dishonesty to the people.

Natural enemies- left & congress r together only for power
by Ram Sharma on Oct 21, 2007 04:51 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

left is strong only in wb, tripura and keral; where bjp does not exist. left & congress r enemy no 1 for each other. so they cannot have common program. congress got 145/545 seats only & it took the support of their arch rivals left to form govt, in the name of keeping the 'communal' forces away. but congress behaves as if it is a one party rule. it did not discuss the nuke deal with bjp either.

we have large deposit of thorium and should try to find ways of using it for power generation, instead of becoming subordinate of usa.

Mr. RAM SHARMA, do you know how we came to know that we have large deposits of Thorium ? when dishonest exporters of manila ropes from Kerala tried to cheat the US by smearing them with generous amount of the local sand to increase their weight the U.S. wanted more of the sand because they could detect the Thorium. so better be aware of our limitations when it comes to technology and not behave like the LEFT who can only talk refusing to accept the reality.

End the controversy, tell us deal is off: Left tells Centre
by babu on Oct 21, 2007 04:26 PM  Permalink

Left is now successful for delaying the N-deal.
Now it is a time for debate real issues in Parliament.
Communist Party wanted to avoid debates on major issues.
Major Issues in India.
1) How many jobs Communist Party has created for poor since they are in power since 30 years.
2)How many poor become rich in West Bengal & Kerala.
3)How many industries closed after commies comes in power.
4)How much money is wasted after every agitation by communist.
etc....etc....etc.....

Yeah right. Good one!
BTW, we've been hearing about the thorium reserves in kerela for decades. How many nuclear reactors has this resulted in? ZERO.

BTW, we would not have even known about the thorium reserves if it wasn't for the US.

Actually, what is most likely to happen the way things are going is this. We will get kicked by China again, and after we have been kicked hard we will go begging to the US to save us. Just like we did in 1962.

Com'on Congress...dance baby, dance
by Ratnesh Sahay on Oct 21, 2007 01:08 PM  Permalink

This is still easy baby, Left has given an easy option. They aren't asking you to strip dance, dear Congress.
Look what have you been doing the country, Look at the poor people, you are still busy doing caste politics and calling reservations. At the end more than 30% still lives in poverty and this is an understated figure.
And now it goes on to prove that Congress has no self respect, even.

Please for the sake of nation....

Sign the treaty, throw away such blackmailing partners like DMK, communist rats and PDP, chineese spiies and fight the mid term poll. You will come by majority. Otherwise coutnry will be at loss but you will be sent to graveyard.
Don't give India to the hands of anti-national communists who are working overtime for Chineese and admnet to make India slave again. In fact Iam amazed that why no PIL is being filed by millions of people of India against leftists for indulging in antinational activities and blockign the country under the agency of forgein bosses like china.

Dump the Comrades
by DYS DYS on Oct 21, 2007 08:32 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Do the commies have another option where the fuel will come from for our thriving economy? No, they don't have a solution. they are a bunch of confused guys used to doing 'historic blunders'. They are agents of China. They are a hindrance to our country's growth profile. Who does need them? They are just a bunch opportunist Chinese agents. If CNN is right (as discussed here only a few days ago), may be the $20m is slowly going down towards the lower side of the pyramid and as a result, the comrades who were pro-deal are changing their stance. They just need be burnt alive - rank and file or thrashed out across the Himalayas.

Left or Congress?
by arbitary on Oct 21, 2007 05:26 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I don't understand why everyone is blaming the Left alone. Congress and Left are alliance partners. If the Left has problems with the deal and the Congress believes that it is doing the right thing, it should break the alliance.

This whole situation has brought forth the fact that the Congress puts power over the national benefit. If it was not obvious since the past 60 years that the Congress is selfish and power-hungry, it is now.

I totally agree. BJP has always said that they want a discussion, they have never said they don't want the deal. Congress refused to discuss a national level issue with the opposition. Is this democratic?

I feel very disillusioned by the entire democratic process. Do majority of Indians want reservations, but no electricity?

Drop the left - not the deal
by Mahesh Nathan on Oct 21, 2007 04:46 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The deal was conceived to help India deal with its growing energy demands and will help the economy in the long run.
Th left's complaint with the deal is just the fact that the deal is with the US, which is capitalist and they have are a socialist party. Socialism or communism is a failed governance concept that has been shunned by the very countries from where it originated i.e the Eastern bloc. Even the Chinese government practices socialism from a military aspect, their governance has been highly capitalistic as can be observed by their growing economy. Socialism consists of two classes, the people who enforce it and those who are subjugated to live under these rules. Its easy for the rule enforcers to practice the values of communism. I have a lot of Russian friends who have told me about the horrors of living under the communist regime - no freedom etc. The left just wants to prove their might to the government even if it is against the country's benefit.
We have to expect compromises for this to go through -even the US govt is under international pressure for making a deal with India who has not complied with CTBT (India need not comply im my opinion but that's another argument). Hope that this deal goes through for the country's sake
