These NRIs should ask: (1) why USA, if it is really interested to have close relationship with India which nobody objects, does not want India to have nuclear weapons programme, when USA allows that for Israel and Pakistan. (2) Why does USA give so much weapons ( $4 Billions worth) to Pakistan and F-16 aircraft, knowing full well that all these would be used against either India or Afghanistan. Taliban used to have aircrafts obtained from Pakistan 3) Why does USA oppose India's membership of the UN Security Council and in the International Space Research.
A Treaty has to be reciprocal. USA is using India to attack Iraq and will India to attack Iran. 4) Will USA allow American bases in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Uzbeckistan, Afghanistan to attack Pakistan or to use Okinawa or Taiwan to attack China.
These Indian-Americans do not reflect the real opinion of the Indian Americans who were very proud in 1998 when India exploded a nuclear device. The real Indian-Americans still think India should not wipe out its nuclear weapons programme just because of this Deal, which has no future when the Democratic Party will come to power very soon.
The people who wanted this treaty were NRI dalals or commission agents who wished to make millions by becoming middleman. Now BJP and Left have poured water over their dreams and so now they are crying.

You can see the content of Hyde act at the US govt website.
I wouldn't say that Leftists are ani-national but thy are certainly FOOLS. Their foolishness was first observed when they opposed Manmohan singh's liberalization in 1991 and continues till today. They dont have a track record to prove whatever they had done till now is correct. Even their policies in Bengal have backfired.

It was correct to oppose liberalization. Only a tiny number of People have benifitted, but look at the majority. Farmers are committing suicides. Graduates are selling pastic toys on the pavements. People are fighting for ration as the public distribution system has almost gone. at the same time Chinese goods have captured markets all over the country.
They have really humiliated the country by breaching the trust by withdrawign the treaty. They are culprit of nations guided by chineese agents...how such people who are easily sold out for power can do good for nation. Congress will be into dusts in coming elections. This public will not forget thsi time.

Public don't care about this Deal( not a treaty). They are worried about the price of wheat and rice, that have gone up by 300 percent within the last 6 months. They are worried about the cost ofd medical treatment, which even the middle class Indians cannot afford anymore. What BJP or Congress has to say about these issues????

How? In that case Manmohan needs to go back to Chandigarh and Sonia to Rome, as the government will collapse.
After a lot of argument the government has decided to put the deal on the back burner. Now, I guess, the right thing to do, since we beleive in democracy, let the political parties put out their manifesto for the next election highlighting what they like and what they don't like in the terms and conditions of the deal. Let the people decide which is acceptable and thus decide who should be ruling India!Once a majority is achieved for or against the deal ,let us stick to the wish of the majority. Jai Hind
Dear Sir, I failed to understand wheather Left is more intellegent/patreotic or the so called NRIs? The fact remains that the Hide Act is working against the interest of India. No self respecting Country will sell out it's sovereignty and right of determenation of it's foreign policies.Do these NRIs wants India to become subservient of USA? There is no doubt that N-Deal is good for every body's interest, but for Hide Act. I request every body favouring N-Deal to build pressure on US administration to remove the impugned sections from Hide Act,which have been objected by Left,if they are well wishers of Indians. If they can't do it,then accept Left and do't provoke Dr.Singh to fight, for he had taken right decission to put N-Deal in the ice box.

Left has always lacked in intelligence. As for their patriotism, it lies with China. They want India to be a junior partner of China. For the left the terms 'foreign policy independence' and 'sovereignity' are synonymous with 'aligning with China' and 'furthering chinese interests'. The US has gone out of its way to push India out of Nuclear Apartheid. There are limits to which they can stretch their laws. Already many US senators are feeling they have given away too much to India within the limits of non-proliferation. It is generally understood that Hyde act is a must but it will not be binding on India. Besides the age of Nuclear testing is passe. US and Russia have even tested conventional bombs that are more powerful than nuclear devices.

Mr. Tyagi has too much knowledge that forget the even basic of India's need. Yes its true USA has put condition on us. But why should they give u such a hight tech free of cost. They r super power and has pressure for all nation. They cant give u everything focut me. And remember, America will dominate any way whether u take the tchnology or no. Then why not be in self interest and take the advance tech which is so important for india's growth.

Bihari Babu: USA is offering a very old technology but the price is too high: India got to give up its nuclear weapons programme. The latest technology is still available from Russia, but India has to be friendly with Russia. If India goes with USA, it destroys relationship with Russia. At the end India will not get anything at all because India's enemy Clintons are coming back very soon. Bush will not stay after 2008, then what?
There is big mis understanding about NRIs. People think that they have left india for money. Truth is India has benefited immensly with the money and tech brought by NRIs. Can u imagine if Ambani, Mittal and Narayanmurty had not lived abroad and learn the technology, where india would have been. Even more poor and multinational sitting on head. Because of NRIs india has so many multinational and power on world. Its natural, once u leave your home and go abroad, apne desh ki bahut yaad aati hai. U feel the absence of your soil. And love start growing even more. NRIs are the biggest asset of india. Look the amount of foreign exchange they bring to india. Its in billions of dollars.

the question is not abt love for nation. Many NRI's have done commandable job and are the flag bearers of India. But, when the same NRI's start acting as a middlemen in pushing the interests of his adapted homeland and their agenda, you only tell me what we indians do. imagine, tmorrow people living in gulf region put pressure on mother india to cut off ties with Isreal and not to have any defence purchases simply bcoz it upsets the establishments of their adapted homeland. is it practical to run a nation as per wishes of NRI's spread across geographies?. is it feasible? what if people residing in ASEAN region put pressure on their motherland to give away arunachal pradesh, simply bcoz thats what their adapted land wants. can mother india accept such things. NRI's r acting childish. they r talking as if we have gone to dark ages and nuclear deal is the saviour. common grow up. learn to broker proper deals. be mature and start talking tough. whether u upset ur adapted land is another issue, ur homeland will always be there for u.

Does it mean that they are right to favour N-Deal on the face of prevailing Hide Act?Have u gone through the remifications of this Act? I am sure no.Any one who has gone through Hide Act will never blame the Left. In relation to the advantages to one or other party ,I can say it is two way traffic.

Lt.Col. Tyagi: You are very correct. This is the bottomline: whether we should give up nuclear weapons for an old outdated nuclear power station.
