Codify norms for post poll alliances
by siva kumar on Oct 10, 2007 08:25 PM  Permalink

Now it has become very clear that one party majority & Govt formation by a single party will be a rare phenomenon. On the other hand It has become a fashion of the politicians to attack the other party and its leaders accusing they are corrupt etc.,etc,. and joining hands with the same party and leaders after the election. Then they utter the now famous quote that %u2018 anything can happen in politics%u2019. How anything can happen in politics? Then what about the charges they made during elections?
Are they not openly fooling the voters who voted to particular parties by listening their election speeches and propaganda?
Are they not accountable for what they have said?
How our election system and democratic system can be called healthy if this type malpractice is allowed?
One party announces support to the other party and withdraws it as per its wish and will. How they go scot-free after thrusting elections on the people and expenditure running in to crores of rupees to the exchequer?
There has to be a movement to bring in legislation to stop this drama any more and codify the norms for post poll alliance.

This Was To Be
by Lalatendu Deo on Oct 10, 2007 08:18 PM  Permalink

The President's Rule was destined, which Kumaraswamy wanted to avoid. He and Deve Gowda had pushed BJP to the wall to extract the Maximum concession. They had hoped that BJP would succumb as there was no hope for BJP in an early election, especially after the Local Poll debacle for that party. But the Push was a little too much for the BJP to bear.

Devegowda had also predicted, or rather tried his best, that Kumaraswamy would continue as a Care-Taker CM. But Congress was very much alive and was waiting for the moment to strike. No sooner Kumaraswamy resigned, than the Governor chose to go for the President's Rule. That was the best option for the Congress and it used the opportunity to its advantage.

But it is better for Karnataka that Kumaraswamy did not become the Care Taker. He would have taken care of himself at the expense of Karnataka in all these period.

Dear Venkatesh Murthy!

Thanks for recommanding excellent book. That is real great loss. But noway I would agree to call Nehru as 'beloved **ji'. His election to first PM was biggest blunder. Also he was main person behind division of country. He was flirtious personality with no morals.

But congress was successful in shielding Nehru and Krishnamenon from the public wrath after the 1962 debacle. It was also successful in hiding the blunders of Nehru and later Indra Nehru and always portrayed them as the saviours of India. Before and after what Nehru did to ruin the country can not be explained here. I used wonder how the Indin public are so informationless when I see some members of the forum writing in praise of Nehru and Indira family...

Nehru was a greedy poliltitian...his greed for power led to partition of india....and lacs of suffering for the state of Punjab and bengal....One of his lifetime failure was Indias war of 1965..and the sufferrers were the braves sons of india..Though Indira gandhi did well to thrash pakistan in 1972.

Now K'taka, next UP. Yes, Maya'sb dictatorial UP govt is working its way to failure, and Congress, which received a most severe thrashing in the last polls here, will have their revenge, with Prez(Cong's) rule under a Cong Guv - what they couldn't do at the ballot box, they'll achieve thru chicanery.

Politicians

Politicians are corrupt. They want only power to make money. Can any body tell how Mayawati in up got a wealth of 52 crores. She says this is the gifts given by Dalit supporters. Are Dalits so rich. Then how they can be economically backwards.

Now, you are taking it to a personnel level, which is wrong. You do not know this person as a human being and therefore, have no rights to comment on how he is behaving. He was probably stating the truth and if that hurts, so be it. Before you think I am a Government employee as well, that is far from the truth.
