Codify norms for post poll alliances
by siva kumar on Oct 10, 2007 08:25 PM

Now it has become very clear that one party majority & Govt formation by a single party will be a rare phenomenon. On the other hand It has become a fashion of the politicians to attack the other party and its leaders accusing they are corrupt etc.,etc,. and joining hands with the same party and leaders after the election. Then they utter the now famous quote that %u2018 anything can happen in politics%u2019. How anything can happen in politics? Then what about the charges they made during elections?
Are they not openly fooling the voters who voted to particular parties by listening their election speeches and propaganda?
Are they not accountable for what they have said?
How our election system and democratic system can be called healthy if this type malpractice is allowed?
One party announces support to the other party and withdraws it as per its wish and will. How they go scot-free after thrusting elections on the people and expenditure running in to crores of rupees to the exchequer?
There has to be a movement to bring in legislation to stop this drama any more and codify the norms for post poll alliance.
