Common sameer, it is a very sensible article. HOw can you even think of comparing Gandhiji with a a-hole like N. Modi.
very one-sided article. rediff should concentrate more on news rather than such unwarranted views....Its a shame very few people are discussing the truth....

You Bangis would always be fools. Rediff has said there are no images before the media was allowed in. Where are they going to have the news from? Media, centeral army or oppostion parties were not allowed in. Just like in Burma and China...
I wrote a similar article in Bengali in Vinnomot [google it please] where we are inviting others to write on this issue. Actually, idealism, be it Hinduvta, Islam or communism is anti-thesis to scientific truth because absolute truth does not exist according to philosophy of science. Thus all kinds of idealism are unscientific. But that will be imposed on the people-that's the danger. However WB needs industry desperately-neither this reality can be ignored.

idealism or craving for absolute truth kills - but in 100s and 1000s. Science when kills they are in millions - N Bomb. Fighter Jets in WTC. Train blasts with bombs. btw bombs are made scientifically... find the truth which philosophy has killed more in last 100 years - as long as you remove islam out of the picture.

Hindutva is not idealism..Islam is, because its political system from no other but God..since God cant fail and is Perfect, it follows Islam is Perfect...indeed God wrote many many books prior to Quran, but got it 'perfected' only in Quran..so even God took so long..so how can Quran be imperfect or anything based on it Imperfect...see what drives people to run planes into buildings????

the fundamental flaw in your prejudiced reading of everything Islam will not make you say anything different. Your stereotyped vision of Islam, as you so conveniently choose to overplay, is only representative of the larger Hindu radical viewpoint. I only have sympathies for your brains that appears to be incapable of informed thinking. But if you do want to debate it, you need to first get off your moral pedestal and speaking down.
Please Mr Budhhadeb Bhattacharya do not copy forceful land acquisition techniques from China. Remember China is ruled by their Communist party and in India Communists are little mosquitoes only. Try to use your brain before you act. You are bearing loads of deliberately constituted %u201Cno-development policy%u201D by your predecessor Jyoti Basu since last 25 years. Look at your state, it is already messed up. If you really want to do something good, try to plan ahead, seek general agreement from within your own party. Try to take small steps before any big leap.
The most beautiful and smartest of all Indian regions is dead...E Bengal messed up by Islam and W Bengal messed up by Communism..both foreign and murderous dogmas..only Vivekananda reborn can save this region.

The only solution is to gather all the communists and throw them into Bangladesh..they should be at home in the bed their beloved mullahs

if that were possible it wud be ideal...the problem is the Bengali commies mostly come ex E Bengal (Jyoti Basu and his ilk) but all chose to quit E Pakistan bcus they knew their ass would be chewed by mullahs..no place is easier to kick than timid Hindus..once in India the same commies who ran away as Hindus became commies and atheists and wrote their lies in Calcutta coffee houses...the present doctrine in W Bengal is to whup up anything Hindu and worship mullahism...simply bcus some mullahs ran planes into US buildings, mullahs r now darlings of commies....ONLY IN Bengal...

Looks like you did not read carefully the post "gujarat ka sach" . why should two people on the same side fight ?
Bengali communists love to rant about evils of capitalism, casteism, and communalism, but they HAVE FAILED to uplift the poor of their state. While Mumbai and Delhi get a lot of flak for poverty, and dirtiness, even today, Kolkata remains infested with dirty slums, INSPITE OF THE MUCH VAUNTED COMMUNISM.
Communists have failed to protect the poor, as Nandigram demonstrates. They have failed to check the growth of Maoists. They are holding India back by obstructing nuclear energy deal, and by opposing privatization.
So, Centrist party (As per press - Congress ) was involved in 1984 Delhi riots. Rightist party (As per press - BJP) was involved in 2002 Gujarat riots. Leftist party is involved in 2007 Nandigram riots.
This means, everyone is same. There is no difference as far as "blot" on the nation is concerned. So, why criticize only Modi????

Oh Really? I think ur comments on Middle-east coutries like saudi arabia, Iraq or Iran are white lies. The truth is, there is no freedom for the non-muslims out there. They can't even do their prayers(especially if they are hindus) and women can't go outside without borkhas even they are not muslims.
