lets not forget..we are indians first
by chetan manral on Nov 07, 2007 05:58 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

lets not forget that we have the fortune of living in a secular, republic and democratic country..not many countries allow that and maybe thats one reason with such diverse culture our economy is among the top five in the world..we live like a family and in a family there are fudes but that doesnt means that the family falls apart..they are internally resolved,we dont wash our dirt linen in public..few miscreants in and outside the country envy us for that and every chance they get ..they try to add fuel to the fire..10 years ago this expose would have caused riots and lots of loss of life and property..but we as indians are more educated and reponsible now and this kind of attempts to instigate violence are falling flat ,frustrating the ppl who wants to disrupt communal harmony..if they didnt got what they want through a expose..now they are following it up with articles, but its good to see that our country have started to look beyond them and get manipulated by them..i am proud of my country and my fellow countrymen..this forum has changed me as a person and educated me, and thought me to forgive and forget

No Justification!!
by Ismail Sayyed on Nov 07, 2007 05:43 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Can violence and bloodshed justify another bloodshed. When will we get over saying they killed us and we killed them. Is there no end to this?

Godhra is condemned by all muslims all over the world but can any sane person justify the killing of innocent people in gujarat for what happened at Godhra station? Were those innocent people who were burned and slaughtered responsible for what happened at the station?

Why don't people understand the politics, its really heartbreaking to see people supporting Narendra Modi who was the master mind behind the Massacre of Human beings.....Osama Bin Laden is a terrorist and so is Narendra Modi.

Anybody who kills human beings is a Terrorist and should be punished..........

totally agree with you, there can't be any justification to killings of human beings be it at Godhra or post Godhra riots. Does the religion whoever says himself to be a true hindu or a muslim can never justify any killings. We should not be guilty of supporting the crimes which we did not do beacuse that also makes us a part of the crime. I feel sorry to see so much hatred here and that people justifying killings against fellow humans just because they do not happen to be co-religionist.
Hey guys, understand one thing, there goes a saying''Never fight for your belief, you never know you might be wrong''. Religion is a person's choice; his way of living a life and no religion teaches you to kill humans. I am a muslim and still i dont wish anything bad for Mr. Modi, i just wish he realises what is humanity and what is human suffering at the hands of a fellow human being. You can't live with peace with so much hatred within you guys. Be a true Hindu and a true Muslim an speak truth for your religion--speak for love and compassion not hatred and killings.

it is nice writing about riots after they are over.

if you go to roots of riots (as a person who has lived in riot prone areas for years, i know the riot mentality well), it is the suspicion of the other community.

hindus now feel that muslims are extra-aggressive in any matter.

muslims feel that they are being victimized.

but, like any quarrel involving neighbours, there is no beginning and no end, just one blaming another for something that took place now, or before 1 year or 5 years or may be centuries.

but, there is a deep sense of distrust. and it is exploited by the politicians.

this mistrust is not generated by politicians, they just exploit and fuel it. it is there for many, many years.

basic problem is people's lack of trust in the system to provide justice. be it a road accident, or a thief being caught and beaten up, or communal incident.

general public at large feels that the system is not going to work, so they have to settle the score.

and with a mob trying to settle a score (it could be a hindu or a muslim mob), how do you talk to them ?

anyone like tehelka, saying that modi started the riots is a fool. there was so much anger when the godhra train burning incident came to light that it just needed a spark.

modi kept quiet for two days, that is his act of ommission.

any mob killing someone is wrong, but the real solution lies somewhere else.
