AMU is a target of regionalism
by Anurag Kumar Agrawal on Nov 02, 2007 02:48 PM  Permalink

AMU is a target of regionalism and these students with regional ties clash. Students of one region clash with another but if they strictly enforce the rule that anyone found with firearms will be rusticated and ban students union and apply section 144 things will improve. Also the fee is very low and this attracts a lot of students who act as leeches.
The library is tremendous but so many books are missing. Attendance should be strictly observed and merit should be criteria for selection otherwise the University is doomed.

AMU to open, but problems remain
by Sheikh Raisuddin on Nov 02, 2007 02:30 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The writer of this article who has not identified himself seems to impress the readers that South Indians are not good to manage AMU. Such feeling of division among muslims is the most damaging. As I know AMU student and teaching communities are divided on regional lines (even district-wise). For the first time we have a good VC from south who has vast experience working in academic institution. Althouh I am from north, I know how good South Indian muslims are managing their education system as well as society. Muslims of South are forward looking and education minded. See the example of Kerala. Let the new VC work with peace, at least for 2-3 years.

VC has done good job
by chirkut on Nov 02, 2007 02:15 PM  Permalink

This teacher of AMU seems to be busy in spreading propaganda against VC and the administration.
I don't understand what is the use of Student's union in the university? Over the years, it has been observed that wherever SU is there, (in residential universities) problems are bound to happen. Students are there to study, garner knowledge and do healthy discussions and not to indulge in dirty politics.
AMU should learn from BHU, where this kind of situation used to happen some 15 yrs ago, but once SU elections and SU was banned, everything became normal. since then, every year, within 24 hrs of completion of annual exams, hostels are to be vacated and fresh allotments are done at the beginning of new academic year. Student's council is there (no election. only nomination) to help students with their problems. Tough measures are always required to control these volatile situations.
