WEEL SAID AND "MAYA KI PROGRESS BHI MULAYAM HEE HOGI" AUR MAYA JI MAYA KI AISH KARENGI
In a large democracy like India, the leaders/government is elected by the common people and not selected. It does not matter who is the MP/Minister etc. The development of a country depends upon the understanding of a ground level situation by the leader whom we elect and not depend upon his/her education, vocabulary or English speaking ability. Once she pledges her service by knowing the common people's need, there are learned, english speaking, economists, IAS officers at his/her command to implement the decisions. Foreign investors or any investments does not depend upon the beauty/look and english speaking ability of a leader/minister...they only evaluate the agenda of the government and ability to administer the state.
In India, from day one of independance, political parties always played with the sentiments of common man to gain votes. Until a couple of decades ago, it was easy for them to garner votes by playing the cards of religion and casts, mainly due to lack of education.
For example, an illiterate politician like Laloo Yadav did not do any good or development for Bihar for almost 15-20 years and was very confident that he is the permanent CM for them -ultimately, people defeated him and installed another government with a sensible CM and the results are seen now. at the same time, when he was shifted to the Railways, on which he has absolutely no knowledge, could do a better job, since he was dependant on the advises provided by the senior officials/IAS officers of the Ministry.
However, as you know, this situation is slowly and steadily changing and people are getting at least the basic education to understand who is good and who is bad - I am not advocating the Mayavati is good or bad - they have a choice among the 4 - so this time they chose to give a chance to Mayavati - now it depends upon her ability to fullfill the commitments given to the voters.
Gundaism has to come to an end one day or the other - you cannot permanently bully people and stay in power.
So don't go by the look and feel of the elected representative - wait and watch how they perform.

Mayawati that joker, she will built a mall near Taj Mahal. That's what that douche bag is capable of.
I do have one question in my mind....can anybody answer...but pls answer truly...i am not related to any party..i am young literate individual who know what is right and what is wrong..my qestion is...
these are my true opinions and not at all associated with any party-politics..
Is Rahul Gandhi really that worst than Mayawati or Mulayam Singh...i mean he knows the technology..he is young...he might not be as greedy as other so called netas..and he carries the STICK with him which i feel is necessary to have control on "chut-bhaiyae" netas ...
And since he carries a history with him he might be more acceptable in international arena representing INDIA...
I know there is some form of diplomacy and politics..but ..again "is rahul gandhi that worse...or shud people give this young individual a chance..and what is wrong if we give him a chance..i mean to say...there are lots of "TOM DIC HARRY'S nowadays in INDIAN politics......"shud he be not given a chance to prove his leadership...
He has all the comforts of life and he has the money also..he can go out of INDIA and live life happily "What i feel it takes a lot of guts for an individual or for an example let us take his monther sonia gandhi...she knows her husband got killed..because ofpolitics..she shud have easily fled out of the country and live happliy and safely along with her children..but she stayed back..and fighting for the INDIAN people to give chance and bring again a good politics which is for the people..." I FEEL A PERSON WHO DOES NOT BELONG TO INDIA ORIGINALLY...AND IS A NOW A PREDOMINANT FIGURE ...NOT BECAUSE OF SOME GADDI but to give back something to the people..."shud be given a chance..i mean sonia gandhi or rahul gandhi or priyanka gandhi...are not like amar sing..or some raja bhaiya...or some goon..they are literate people..we INDIAN people are very egoist and our ego hurts if somebody tries to take advantage of it and it is those same netas that raise questions of SONIA GANDHI being ITALIAN..common guys..even ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER is not american...but he is governor in USA..and there are many cases..we INDIAN people think that we are very moderate but sometimes we have a very narrow way of thinking and that is netas like amar singh..and other tom doc and harrk wins the election and make indian democratic system a mockery

Hi Cool:
I believe your honest question and your unbiased anlaysis deserve an answer. So here it is...
Rahul gandhi is just one example of how things can go wrong in a "vibrant" yet "fractured" democracy like ours. Vibrant because we are still an active and reasonably free democracy despite our termendous variances. Fractured because we are yet to rise above criminalisation, casteism, pseudo-secularism and other such ills that plague our society and put polity. Every day you'll see people going nuts on this blog, abusing each other's caste, region, religion...
In this environment, I believe folks like Rahul and or that matter every young politician like him from every other party should at least get a chance to prove themselves. We know how good or bad the oldies have been in running this country.
I also agree with the example of Schwarznegger. But the US is truly an internationalized society, we aren't even nationalized yet, what with the north-south, hindu-mulsim, cong. BJP and so many other divides.

Good intent and good observation...trust me we Indians are the biggest hypocrites. Frankly speaking, we do not deserve good governance or visionary leaders. GOD SAVE INDIA...
u r saying that u know what is good and what is bad. but it seems that this is not correct. except for the dynastic connection, what qualities does rahul have? why do u want to give him a chance just because he belongs to nehru family? if he was not from the nehru parivar, no body would even notice him. sonia, rahul, priyanka r all mad after power. since congressmen cannot remain united without someone from the dynasty leading them, not only sonia, rahul and priyanka but the small children of priyanka have also become important and they just want to encash this situation. sonia is not only from italy, her father was also said to be member of dictator musolini's party.
she has already given us quatrochi, whom she has been trying to save by hook or crook from behind the scene. earlier she tried to become pm, though she did not have majority support. this time with 145 seats out of 540 seats, she is ruling by remote control with support from communists and others, who defeated congress candidates at the hustings. she also took support of dmk, who r soft towards litte, the killers of rajiv. earlier congress had fallen a government only on the issue of dmk ministers. she also took support of pawar, who was expelled from the congress party for raising the issue of her italian origin. she did not become pm because of various reasons, though she said that she is doing a 'tyag'.
when faced with office of profit issue (which originated because a congressman from up raised this issue against jaya bachan), she immediately resigned and got reelected from her pet constituency, wasting lot of government money in the process. no one else did this drama. later on all the parties passed a bill, declaring all those posts as being not an office of profit.

Hi Cool, Democracy is not so cool and does not govern by thoughts you have explained most of the times. It would be great Idea to have most educated becoming head of the states, but it does not work out in India Democracy. First, most of the people who vote does not think your way. Second, there is a difference between a leader and a charsimatic politician. Mayawati has won because pepole found her only strong leader who may take tough decesions, may be able to curb crime. Name any other leader in UP politics who is of same level excep Mulayam who was anyway set to out. If Mayawati is wise she will use this opportunity to come to National scene by doing somthing great for UP. All the Best to Her.

When you are giving your view you are only talking about yourself or people like you who are comfortable with life and understand very little about the difficulties of ordinary people. Rahul is like the monsoon frog he appears only when there is election, after that he will vanish back into his luxurious life, may be he will go to one of the resorts to recoup himself for the next battle.
There are other capable people in congress but all the resources is spent in promoting him.
Congress rule has made rich people richer, who do not want to share their wealth with the poor industrial labourers. They pay no wages and exploit poor people, congress is a mute expectator and they keep clapping from the side bench and FM will appear on TV when the sensex does well. All this has very little relevance to the poor people.
You look at Mayawati there is not much news coverage, no publicity, she spends her time with the general workers. I have seen people working with her. They have benefitted in her rule. There is sharing of wealth all the way.
You can win election if you can master the art of tranferring wealth from the rich to the poor and take the credit. In reality the rich do not vote and the poor vote on mass scale.
Your are mistaken if you have the view that Rahul is making sacrifices for the country. Infact he is making sacrifices to get the power and to satisfy his highest need- self esteem.
If you want to serve the country there are better ways of doing it . Do it without power.Mother terressa has already shown the way.

yes mahendra, Maywati really had growth but for herhelf. People haven't fogotten how she sidelined Kanshiram and grab the control of party. In taj corridor case, what was her role, everybody knows it. So don't glorify her. She is similar to all nasty politicians.

GET READY TO VISIT TAJMALL NOW. Mayawati has succeeded because she made of fool of people, better than other parties. She formed parties to counter Brahmins and upper castes, now she has won only becuase of them!! She hasnt done much for Dalits either. Plus her scams are well known. In UP, only BJP, with a leader like Narendra Modi can do wonders. UP people shud ve voted for betterment...instead theyve been done in by a shrewd a clever lady like Mayawati. And congress, is more happy these days in supporting Govts from outside, or getting supports from outside, since congress president is also from outside.
