RE:RAHUL GANDHI
by RDC on May 11, 2007 12:30 PM

Hi Cool:

I believe your honest question and your unbiased anlaysis deserve an answer. So here it is...

Rahul gandhi is just one example of how things can go wrong in a "vibrant" yet "fractured" democracy like ours. Vibrant because we are still an active and reasonably free democracy despite our termendous variances. Fractured because we are yet to rise above criminalisation, casteism, pseudo-secularism and other such ills that plague our society and put polity. Every day you'll see people going nuts on this blog, abusing each other's caste, region, religion...

In this environment, I believe folks like Rahul and or that matter every young politician like him from every other party should at least get a chance to prove themselves. We know how good or bad the oldies have been in running this country.

I also agree with the example of Schwarznegger. But the US is truly an internationalized society, we aren't even nationalized yet, what with the north-south, hindu-mulsim, cong. BJP and so many other divides.

You have my vote on your thoughts, Cheers!
