Our people in Goa need to learn to pray !
by cajetan coelho on Jun 01, 2007 09:03 PM  Permalink

Prayer, discernment, mortification, examination of conscience, penance, meditation and contemplation used to be the preferred practices in Goa not so long ago. But times have changed and so too the value system and our way of proceeding. Hunger for power and wealth has entered every realm of life in our society.

As Goans and true Indians we need to return to our cherished roots of fellow feeling for one another making sacrifices for the good of the other.

Our temples, chapels and churches are often empty with no people gathering for prayer and recollection. We need to have hours of silence and solitude to draw strength for our day to day living and right way of acting. Such exercises will certainly fortify us against weaknesses and temptations for corruption, greed and exploitation.

Our so called religious leaders too are failing in keeping up to the high standards expected of them. In the race for power and glory at times they come across as horses in the front row ready to gallop with full speed often nowhere. Failing to be leaven they often appear thoroughly misfits in robes.

Spiritual gurus and meditation experts have time and again refered to election as an important procedure for making progress as individuals and as groups of individuals.

Time and again Sant Tukaram in his abhangas or Ignatius of Loyola and Francis Xavier in their spiritual texts remind the genuine seekers of the enormous blessings that await them through prayer.

Signs of frustration
by Rahul Almeida on May 30, 2007 09:30 PM  Permalink

these are the signs that goans are getting frustrated with their politicians, they know that in the near future they will be aliens in their own land.lets not forget that voting is the best way to make the politicians bite the dust..if Remo really had some good ideas he should have started a party to save Goa

Whatever Remo said is out of frustration on the politicians who are destroying goa (specially congress). but we should not forget the contribution of Remo during Goa Bachao Abhiyam. He had his share in protecting the valuable land of Goa which would have gone in the grasp of non-goans.

Viva Remo.... but try to maintain your temper as words cannot be taken back... give some value added inputs to your follower.

Lets work that best and sincere faces are brought to power.

BJP all the way
by Pranjali Thali on May 29, 2007 03:59 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Its stupidity of Remo to suggest Presidents Rule in Goa. The governor is
just the face of Congress in Goa so even if there is Presidents Rule in
Goa it will be the High Command giving orders from ND as Mr. Rane himself
doesnt take any decisions even when he is in power. Alos Mr. Parrikar is
the best option for Goa right now. If we want to see Goa prosper then BJP
is the answer

Manohar Parrikar is a hardcore communalist , fascist and dictatorial leader. He hates other religions . Yes there was development when he was Chief Minister as it is easier for a fascist dictator to implement plans as against democratic leaders who have to rule by consensus. He ensured that 90% of jobs were given to his RSS supporters and the higher castes. he filled the Govt officers with his people so much so that even after the Congress took over these officers kept him informed of everything. He was responsible for a rabid CD much like the CD brought about by the BJP in UP which incited hatred gainst Goan Catholics. He was responsible for Goa's first communal conflagration in Curchorem. He has emasculated the Goa BJP leaders to ensure that he will be the only leader. Any other leader is put down immediately.
If elected he will destroy & burn the secular fabric of Goan Society. He comes as a wolf in sheep clothing during elections and many people are fooled by his talk, but will learn their lesson however it will be too late .

He talks against the Regional Plan, but it was he who started it. He wanted to privatise the Miramar Beach. The problem is Goans have short memories and forgive easily.

I hope that most Goans have seen through this mask and given him a big boot like the people of UP gave BJP there. Otherwise Goa will have to pay for it in blood.

Mr. Parikar has set a good example , not only to for goan politians but to other states as well. He should be near to role model and definitely the greatest of CM.s goa has produced.
His capability, command and administrative abilities only made it possible in a short span of time.
He was perhaps the most secular of the leaders we ever had and perhaps will ever have.

The future of Goa lies on who becomes the next CM.
If congress manages to come to power Goa will be ruined.

W ehave to know taht area and population of goa where in other parts of India the same area/population will have only 2 MLA's Goa has 40 it is very easy to sway the voters a canditate with money power can easily win from Goa as many constituencies in goa have electorate of less than 5000 like we saw in last poll where a canditate gifted a hero honda motercycle to all families in his constituency and he ewasily won,These canditates are more interested in recovering money that they have spent that is why there is no/less development and lot of party switching
