No blows below the belt, Mr TVR Shenoy
by sibby mathews on May 22, 2007 11:57 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Through all the grudging and laboured appreciation he offers Mr. Achuthanandan, Mr. TVR cannot help exclusively highlight the few instances of the culpability of some in the left camp ! Mr TVR carefully has avoided saying anything about the immensely more massive roles persons who belong to or are associated with non left parties have had in Kerala's land scam. Like in the proverbial pot and the kettle story, it is the less culpable who appear to be singularly under the scanner. Mr. TVR also appears to be attempting labouriously to paint the demolition act as something that the Kerala CM is struggling to defend within the ranks of his own party !!! Can Mr. TVR present any reasoning behind such a divination ?? Does he really hope that he will not be noticed in this effort to diminish the role of the party behind the CM ??

More pertinently perhaps, will Mr. TVR venture with his thoughts about the possible ways in which other parties (notably the Congress and the BJP or regional parties like the DMK, AIADMK, PMK which are actually no better than wayside thieves) would have handled a wholescale sabotage of law such as what was happening in the Kerala real estate sector for years ? Will Mr. TVR specifically speculate on what these parties' reactions would have been if one of their ministers had embarked on a mission similar to Mr. Achuthanandan's ??

Again, will Mr. TVR acknowledge that land scams such as those that came to light in Kerala are an all too familiar and inevitable fact of everyday life in the rest of India and that little is ever heard about it as the people have come to accept it as something that has to be lived with or even a phenomenon that in some vulgar way is actually desirable for society ??

Intersting posts !!!!!

I live in another continent now, I have nothing against Tamils, in my opinion, many tamils on rediff fourms and in my personal experience are not happy other people coming up

In US they hate Telugu people, they keep cribbing and make fun of them for coming to US, keep saying they cheat and make fake certificates.Still we are # 1 in US in IT.

They do not like keralites they think they dominate in gulf and they grab jobs in other cities

ofcourse every one knows they hate Kannadigas. I've worked in Bangalore and every tamil guys was virtually jealous about the success of bangalore

I have lot of tamil friends, majority of them are excellent people.

You guys got to change your attitude, I do not intend to hurt any one's sentiments

i really appreciate achuthanandan's efforts to reforestation the hills and the land. but beware, behind it might be the idea of letting the maoists naxalites hide in those forests. After all all cpi or cpm are the political wings of naxals.

Literacy is the capability to read and write. However, being literate in public affairs would mean much more than merely having the ability to read. It would mean using that capability extensively to become reasonably knowledgeable in matters concerning oneself and the society.

Do read a lot more (from varied sources) before coming out with comments about matters such as this. After all, harbouring prejudice borne out of ignorance is all right as long as one does not talk in public. But the moment he or she chooses to express his ignorance aloud, the only thing that it will remind less ignorant bystanders is the bray of an ass.

He chose three officials namely IG RIshiraj Sing, IPS, Mr. Raju Swami, IAS the collector and Mr. Suresh kumar. The CM calls this team ' Poocha" (Cats). and one day he told that.. My cats are not eating mices but they are eating big rats ( i dnt know what is the name of big rat in english im sorry for that)

Kerala CM is doing a good job in removing encroachments on waterways. The same thing should be done in Chennai also. Chennai has three waterways - ABC - Adyar River, Buckingham Canal & Cooum River. These rivers stink with slums , encroachments, drainage water, chemcial pollutants let-outs, etc., It is high time Karunandihi does something about this. Otherwise, tomorrow, even on Krishna Waterway which is fetching drinking water to Chennai will also meet with the same fate and Chennaites will end up drinking drainage water.

Karunanidhi is living the role of Dhritarashtra. He is not interested in real development of the state or the country. All he is looking for is to extend his family's reign.

The plans for Kalaignar TV and print media entry show their deep worries about losing out in the near future.

Tamilians should decide whether they deserve such pathetic power hungry politicians to govern them.

For Tamil Friends
by Jaison Augustine on May 22, 2007 08:36 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This posting is due to some comments from the Tamil guys in this forum.

If due to the income and resources are the concern for Salem division why you are asking for Mullaperiyar Dam? Completely on Kerala land and Kerala not even drawing a single drop from that Dam.

Kerala never said they wont give water to TN. Only demand is construct a new Dam on the same place and takse as much as water you want. Even if the dam is is good strength , you cant ignore the fear of life of 40 laks people living in the vally.
Supreme Court order was based on a panel of people from North india and TN they studied the Dam. Only one member in the Panel from Kerala and He opposed the panel findings. Rest everybody get paid by the TN for political movement.
Try to understand central government is ready to fund for the new Dam and why TN is opposing it. TN is not losing water , not losing money, why opposing new dam?

In case the Dam is broken , How TN going to get water further? Even if you are not making a new Dam how long you can get water from an old Dam? Tomorrow the dam is broken then atlest some thousands will die in Kerala, Then due to non-availablity of water, atleast 4 districts of TN become suicide points for TN farmers...Some thousands will die due to hunger in TN also .It is suicidal for both Kerala and TN.New dam is the only solution.

Even if thousands die in Kerala and TN nothing will happen in Chennai and New Delhi(Supreme Court).

You are one of the Mallu fools. Expert committee recommended the increase of dam height. If you dont understand this, you are a dam fool. You are more expert than expert committee? Selfish and cunning Mallu ass-holes are parasites sucking the bllod of other state people. If Kerala is great, why all Mallus are begging in other states?

I am from Chennai. I think we , Tamil people should consider the sentiments expressed by Keralites. They are not objecting to give water. Their concern is only with the safety of dam and lives of the people. Will we Tamil people accept in such a scenario. Let us be sensible.

by Libran on May 22, 2007 08:16 PM  Permalink

First of all it is quite heartening to know, TVR --who I presume a Saffron supporter from his writings -- is writing an article in praise of a communist CM. I surmise two things from this:
1. Achuthandan must be really doing great for his state! Kudos!! Keep it up!!
2. It is nice on the part of TVR to praise the good deed no matter who did it. I like that Mr TVR! Keep it up!

Cheap and Narrow Minded Chief Minister!!!
by Bala on May 22, 2007 07:52 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Railways announced that to divide the Palakkad circle into 2 circles for administration convenience :

1. Palakkad (pertaining to Kerala districts and nearby areas).
2. Salem ( Tamil nadu regions ).

It is not saying that moving Palakkad to Salem.

But dividing into 2 divisions was vehemently opposed by Kerala and its chief minister. Why.... Kerala wants to use TN resources to develop KERALA.

On the same vein why does TN is trying to increase the height of a dam which is in Kerala??? Tamilians are the worst when it comes to narrow perceptions. The OBCs absorb almost all the reservations, always vote for regional parties, always use Tamil as a differentiator, refuse to consider Indian first and then a tamilian, will even jeopardise India for the support of LTTE.
