1. It explicitly creates irrational hierarchy among Indians which is against Article 14. 2. Parents covertly train their children to coerce other children as per the above hierarchies. I deplore any other religion that does this.

Before venturing to comment read Vivekananda and Paramahamsa who said there is no need for any change in ones religion. Shidi Baba said conversion is like changing ones father. The colonial historians and the left leaning historians of today have misled the people and so most are ignorant of the virtues of Hinduism

Hi Qwazi, your islam believes that EVEYRONE IS EQUAL in ISLAM only .But in our hindu religion we believe that EVEYRONE IS EQUAL in all religions.That is why still muslims are in India.If we take randomly 100 hindus,We can find atleaset 90 persons as secularists.Take the same case in muslims we can find only 10 persons are secularists like our KALAM.Becoz of muslim invaders only this culture has been ruined.

But what is heppening SC/SC/OBC gets reservation r hindu even if he is rich. If he change his belief he won't get the benefit. Why this double standard, does his fortune changes with the change in his belief. Change the constitution let the POOR get reservation irrespective of caste, creed or religion.

"Affirmative action" practised in USA & other countries and "caste based reservation"in India have world of difference between them.. . 1.Affirmative action is not based on caste. 2.It is not compulsory..It is upto the discretion of the employers. 3.It is not a fixed quota.. Please understand the difference.. Also our friend Mir alam should read the most recent report by National survey organisation of India, which says that the employment rate among Muslims is similar to that of the Hindu population. India is a country with the greatest magnanimity.If people from minority group are suppressed by the majority people, then none of the people from minority group would not have become big-shots in India. There are numerous examples..People from the minority group like Tata and Bajaj ( who are from Zoroastranism, which is a much less represented group in India than Christianity & Islam ) have never said that they were suppressed by majority people when they were trying to make their progress. One has to learn the Vedas before criticising. this is a basic knowledge that one should have learnt & understood what they are talking about.

After Rahul Gandhi's raising of "Babri" in Deobond, the Jihad Central of the World, today's Cong manifesto is incredibly talking about Muslim reservation, AMU minority status, special deal for Muslims, making Urdu second language etc!
This shows, that UPA has no way to counter BJP apart from rallying Muslims religiously.
Make no mistake, reservation for Muslims in Uttar Pradesh will never be accepted because its where Pakistani movement was born, grew.
This in turn will communalise the whole thing and BJP will be gainer.
By playing such blatant Muslim appeasement, communal card, its Pseudos who have rationalized Hindutva.
Many things Sheela Bhat wrote are true, like Maya's capability of transferring vote which is not true for Congress.
But Sheela is totally wrong when she wrote: BJP will be in trouble as Maya is getting socalled "High caste" votes.
BJP's rise in UP earlier in 1990s (or for that matter in elsewhere like Gujarat, MP, and many other states) WAS NOT BECAUSE OF UPPER CASTE VOTE. But it WAS BECAUSE OF OBC VOTE.
People like Kalyan Singh is still a mass leader though may be behind Maya at this moment. Kalyan Singh still has independent base and in last election his party (he faced election by flaoting a separate party) got some 3-4% of vote. In Part of UP, because of him, BJP lost some 12-15 seats. At least.
BJP also tied up with Apna Dal(an OBC party) this time who as per general perception usually have 5-6% vote across UP.
Together Kalyan Singh & Apna Dal is going to add 7-8% vote to BJP kitty which is a huge huge number.
Same logic goes to Gujarat, MP, Rajasthan and elsewhere. Modi, Uma Bharati --are OBC leaders. Not so called "High Caste" leaders.
And REMEMBER Uma Bharati defeated wily Congress CM of Madhya Pradesh Digvijay on Roti-Kapda-Makan-Padai agenda. Its BJP's massive win in 4 states which brought the national election in 2004 forward!

Uma Bharati may be out BJP now, but what matters most here is, she will always remain in Hindutva ideology, rather she is against alleged "dilution" of Hindutva.

You are quite right, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Narendra Modi, Sushil Modi are all OBC...Vasundhara Raje, Raman Singh, BS Yediyurappa, are upper-caste...Khanduri is the only Brahmin. BJP would never have come this far without support of other castes. Don't forget it has tribal leaders in Orissa (Jual Oram) and Jharkhand (Arjun Munda).

It is a myth that Hindu caste system is based on scriptures. Can you point out one line in Veda, Upnishads or Gita where it mentions caste?
