Respect is commanded (by deeds) and not demanded just because it is written in some books written thousands of years ago.
Things have changed now.Brahmins were respected earlier as they were the only caste educated and knowledgeable. Now the opportunity to learn is available to everyone.
In the sense that you consider all knowledgeable people as brahmins...then yes all brahmins should be respected, if they use their knowledge for betterment of all...But this respect-thing should not be just because one is born in a family with certain surname.

cy ba, do you think that guy really cares for Brahmin or Hinduism. You can read his other posts where he insults Hindu culture and beliefs. He is most likely a christian fanatic going by the way his ire comes across when something about church is criticized. There are many like that guy who use Hindu names an do this dirty work.

Sameer you are surely a christian and a neo convert to boot who is unable to come to terms with your new identity. There is nothing wrong in any religion as long as you don't try to manupilate others or to loath them. If you do, then that itself proves that yor faith is not Gods. So cool it and take it easy. Every one is equal from a Brahmin to the Dalit and towards that realisation is where India is heading back to. If you Christian Bigots can't digest that then God Bless you.

Abe Sameer: You are a Muslim convert and trying to trigger a fight among Hindus. I can see through your game. First go and make up with Shias Bahais and Ahmedias and then come here to lecture about social sophistication.
The BSP has done right thing by organizing the 'Brahmin Sammelan' and coining new slogan ' Jiske jitne Sankhya bhari, utni uski Bhagidari'. Kudos to the party, for becoming the first party to understand that it can not win elections without the support of the so-called upper caste communities, hence stand tall amongst all other self styled parties those claimed to be the ultimate saviours of backward community without doing anything.
The BSP is the first political party to take such a path-breaking step that instead of 'we' joining the upper caste community and becoming the pawns in their hands the party has appealed them to join 'us'. Where the question comes whether the party is diluting its' ideology or for that matter, diverting itself from its basic commitments. It is quite crystal clear; unless and until the party doesn%u2019t come in the power it cannot really make a substantial change in the lives of the millions of poverty-stricken people mostly of the backward communities. The 'Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Garden%u2019, 'Parivartan Chowk', and recently inaugurated ' Bahujan Samaj Prerna Kendra' or for that matter the response it got for its 'Brahmin Sammelan', could have never been possible but for the political power the BSP enjoyed during its rule. And I can't see, why the BSP, in next 10 to 15 years conquers New- Delhi as per the political aim of the party.
It is not understandable that why national Dalit intelligentsia always blaims only brahmins for their so called underprivileged situation. If you see Indian history from past 1200 years upto Independence then there were so many rulers like Pathan, Afgan, Mughal, French and English. Before them there were Buddhist and others and even at the time of Mahabharat and Ramayan the kings were khastriya. So it depicts clearly that there were hardly any regime dominated by brahmin kings/ruler. Everyone knows that all executive powers are exercised by state/rulers only. And it is the responsibility of state to do justice with underprivileged in any time frame.
So where the brahmins comes into the picture for the current situation of dalits?
One may say that brahmins generally holds/have hold strong advisory position in the past....then it might be said that it was the responsibility of the king/ruler not to follow anti dalit advice and still if they implemented such injusticeful brahminical advice then definitely such kings were not fit for ruling as per the current norms. But history is different....clearly reaveals the intelligence power of brahmins that Mayavati has noted. She will use this power to uplift the standard of underprivileged. So without prejudice...please stop blaiming brahmins for the situation which is not created by themselves. Brahmins always uplift those who honour them.

yea because each brahmin kills atleast 15 people per day , and poses that he doenot even hurt a ant , basilly selfishness and jealosy are gifted talents of brahmins
After looking at comments of fellow Indians, I seriously doubt on my future in India. We Indians are already broken into 2 parts (Hindu and Muslims)by leaders and now leaders are trying to break us into many more parts(Brahman,OBC etc,etc). The irony is we people are supporting their cause by accusing each other in this message board..Are bhaio, when will you guys understand that no religion/caste is bad..It is only few people are bad in every community and rest all are normal human beings like us struggling for their daily needs. Why do you vote to these politicians who talks about caste? The only aim of leaders should be overall economic and social growth. Nothing else...PLEASE STOP THIS HATRED between ourselves and feel lucky that we are young and working at a time when India is a land of opportunity. Enjoy this good time brother and give your bit to society. Phew..Kash main PM hota!!!
