What kind of exercises and how it cahnged your life. Better if you can mail me directly at somesh_advocate@rediffmail.com
I was having chronic ameabiasis. Doctor told me to continue medicine for ever. but I decided to stop medicines and try wheat grass, walking, and yoga. All this I tried one after another and it has become a habit that I do all this regularly and I am feeling that I have no more ameabiasis and my obesity has drastically come under control. In addition, I have started playing Badminton from 5 am to 6 am, then I go for walk upto 7 am. at 6.15 am I take wheat grass juice bale Tulsi Amla June mix, then after taking rest for 15 minutes I take cold water bath and at 7.50 am I take some fruits(seasonal) and at 9 am I take breakfast in my office. I sleep at 10.30 pm and get up between 3.30 to 4 am. My badminton partner also feels that there is lot of improvement in him.
This ancient saying, without any doubt finds relevance in our day to day lives in some form or the other. The rising cases of diabetes, and obesity are ample proofs for the same, the sooner we embibe the art of putting our selves into meaningful physical activities the better it would be to develop a physically sound human society.
This is centuries old theory which Charles Darwin successfully proved. Any active use of a part of the body would get maximum blood circulation and would become prominent in the long run. It is a basic theory. Everybody knows excercise makes positive changes in the body. If you want to become an expert in any complex subject, you need to dedicate yourself.... you will become an expert in that subject. Try it out....
SOME SAY THAT A SNAILES(SLOW) LIFE MAKES THE MAN LIVE LONGER.. IF YOU EXCERCISE vigorousLY ITS GOING TO REDUCE OUR LIFE SPAN. tHIS IS WHAT I AM THINKING. I AM WALKING TO OFFICE 40 MINUTES AND BACK 40 MINUTES.I THINK THAT WILL BE OKAY FOR MY LIFE. WHAT YOU THINK???

Hi Mohammad I think the reasonning behind this is If we dont use something, it does not develop. Exercise is not mundane it is a coordination between your nerve cells and muscular system. Similarly if you do yoga, pranayam ( Breath control - Kapalabhati), Tai-Chi, etc. it is an exercise for the central nervous system. Exercise, Eat healthy and Think Positive, should give you a long and happy life. The 40 minutes walk to-fro to office is an excellent exercise. But also introduce variety in your routine and keep challenging yourself.

I would agree with Mohammad, how do you explain the fact that slow moving animals like tortoises and sloths live long lives. Elephants and hippos live longer than leopards and chitahs. Any thoughts?!!

Hi Soumitra Animals in general cannot be compared with Humans. The reason being that in Humans, major enzymatic and hormonal changes are because of thinking or related to the nervous system. In animals they live for what they are built for. i.e lower metabolism means that most of the turtles are either hibernating or moving slowly however they eat food only till its sufficient for their body and do not indulge in gluttony for the taste - as seen in humans, e.g a human being is prone to binge eating if the food tastes good. Also in animals sex is for reproduction only and unlike humans do not indulge in sex for fun OR associate a guilt with it. It is a natural phenomenon like eating when hungry. In general our senses ( nervous system ) dictates our health. The nervous system's health is dictated in terms by our thinking, and stress , our desires and the fulfillment of those. Hence the meditation part is most important and followed with good food. The exercise part is basically for strengthening the muscles and ther nervous system. Muscle contraction and relaxation is controlled by the electricty provided byt the nerves to the muscle and advanced Yoga is isolation of the muscles-nerve group.

Dear Sachin you are Bright! But tell me how are desires and meditation related? What role does meditation play? please mail me at sanjayjamdade@rediffmail.com
Desires and meditation are not related. What meditation can do is help you see your desires in the right light. Meditation can throw light on the root reasons that fuel our desires. Meditation will help you summon the strength and determination to pursue good desires, and give you the strength and determination to bid goodbye to the ones you are not supposed to have.

First of all, sloths dont live very long, not more than 20-30 yrs. Tortoises: not all live 150 yrs. Some, like the Galapagos tortise do. A cold blooded animal has a lower metabolic rate, requires lesser food and hence can survive for long periods of time without food and water. In other words, they are more adept at handling adverse climates than warm blooded animals. Warm blooded animals need much more energy to stay alive. Hence, they die quicker if food isnt plentiful. THe positive thing about being warm blooded is that they are way smarter than reptiles or amphibians - bigger, more efficient brain.
As to why elephants live longer - well, not really. Their lifespan is about the same as humans: 70-80 yrs. Elephants can survive as long as they can move around. A cheetah, on the other hand is built for speed, and needs to hunt. As it grows older, it gets slower, hence lesser food, denerative effects on the body, eventual death. Carnivores live almost 50% more than their lifespan in captivity. However, the argument that if you run like a cheetah will make you die as quick as one is silly. Obviously, I dont mean a 60 yr old heart patient pick up mountaineering as a hobby - that's suicidal, but reasonable exercise - long walks, etc keep you healthy. From personal experience, old people who are physically active tend to live longer.
Within the same species, an Cheetah that is quick survives. This speed comes only with regular use. If the cheetah started moving like an elephant, it would starve. We humans are not built like elephants, so we shouldnt act like them either. Physical exercise is as important as mental exercise. Again, sportspersons get injuries due to overuse (eg, shane warne has arthritis in his fingers due to spinning the ball so much). That should be avoided, if possible. But reasonable exercise (1 hr in the gym, 1 hr walks) are very good!
Seem to be finding lots of "stating the obvious" with "years of research and finding" originating from US. About time these guys are given an exercise to go take a walk around the globe and find me on the ohter side.
Currently, still recovering from another reports "tomatoes are good for the heart".
