This is a very welcome move. I truly respect Sri Ravishankar for being bold enough to say that Hinduism doesn't sanction castes based on birth. But it will be hard to make the politicians and dalit activists understand this, as they make teir livelihood out of creating hatread and infeority in the minds of so called dalits.

Myself being an Engineering professional I had people from reserved category also. But we all lived together peacefully in the hostel. The only caste thing that used to come us were " Kar dee na Punjabiyon waali baat, kar dee na baniyon waali baat, jaaton waali baat" which was mainly humorous. There was never any discrimination. Being 35 I have never experienced caste. A few years back we never knew what OBC's were which were created by fellow politicians. As we are a free for all country we have the media also using cliche's like " how we treat our OBC's, SC's". Does anyone have the time? Does anyone really care what the caste is?
It is a good initiative, but will it work ? earlier on The Buddha, Narayana guru all tried but failed. Lets hope this initiative will work. One good thing though, all religions, Islam, Hindu etc. has now many followers who can see the defects in their religious dogmas and the courage to speak out.

Very correct. India has worst kind of politicians who rarely look beyond their vote. They can do anything, dividng people along caste, divide people along Hindu-Muslims to win.
I Congratulate Sri Sri Ravishankar about his effort and bringing one step closer to Islam
Qur%u2019an cuts the very roots of racism/caste in these words:
'O mankind! We have created you from a single male and female and made you into nations and tribes so that you may know each other. The most honorable of you in the sight of Allah are surely the righteous." (Chapter 49: 13)
And again: "O mankind! Be careful of your duty to your Lord Who created you from a single soul and from it created its mate and from them twain hath spread abroad a multitude of men and women.%u201D (Chapter 4: 1)
Thus Islam stresses the absolute unity in variety of the human race.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) declared: "O people! You are all from Adam and Adam was made of dust. No Arab is to be preferred over a non-Arab except by virtue of his piety." He also said: "Allah does not look at your shapes or your colors but He looks at your hearts (intentions) and your deeds. Creatures are the dependants of Allah and the closest among them to Allah are indeed the most useful to His dependants."

Problem here is, when Islam was spread in India in middle ages, it was NOT because it gave equal rights to everybody.
They talked about its a true religion vs false.
Muslims started equating Islam with equality ONLY after French revolution.
There is NO MENTION OF EQUALITY in Islamic literature prior to that.

Even during reign of 4 "rightly guided Khalifs", when Islamic army invaded lots of areas outside Arabian Peninsula, THERE USED TO BE SEPARATE QUARTERS, RIGHTS OF NON-ARAB AND ARAB MUSLIMS.
EVEN ARAB AND NON-ARAB MUSLIMS DID NOT HAVE EQUAL RIGHTS TO WAR BOOTY.
Equality in Islam is a after thought inserted by Islamists post French revolution.
I salute Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for taking initiative on this. Lets support these efforts. Educated people should come forward and help him in this noble cause. Its everyones responsibility to get rid of caste system from India and to help backward people be them from lower casts or upper casts. INDIA will be truly INDIA if this happens and there won't be any stopping then. Please be united (upper and lower caste Hindus) and fight the world for your rightful place and let not others (read Christain missionaries trying to convert people illegally) take advantage of this out dated caste system. Lets get rid of this caste system from India for better INDIA! Jay Hind.

Salute Sri Sri Ravi shankar...the caste division among Hindus is social and artificial..it has no sanction in Hindu philosophy which recognizes the soul as Brahman itself...India should have been well on its way to castelessness by industrialization alone if not for its stupid economic policies. Japan had a horrible caste system where lower caste Etas were not even allowed to enter the northern islands..today Japan is casteless..people are casteless when they have money and the work they do is elevated...technology modernity and of course Hindu spirituality can be exploited to acheive a casteless Hindu society...the crematoria doms in India are the funeral parlor business in the west, and if crematoria were elevated to big business you would have Brahmins lining up to be doms. Refer to the words of great sages like Swami Vivekananda and you will find how artificial India caste is. All the best to Sri sri. God Bless !
A light of hope is still there and we all support this pious revelution towards unity among human as prime to erradicate our hatredness (on petty reasons) at large and mighty selfishness of soul. once we realise the truth of dignity at par with HIS graciousness through a saint like SRI SRI, I am quite sure it would be a pious and peaceful revelution that preached by our great personalities like Sri Buddha,Maha vira, Guru Nanak, Bhakta Kabir, Adi Sankara, Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsar, Vivekananda,Chattampi Swamikal,Sri Narayana guru, Shri Shirdi Sai Baba, Mother Theresa, Sathya Sai Baba, Matha Amrithananda Mayi etc... Many other personalities are really left, I admit. But whatever names I could recall while posting thats only added.** In short, at this juncture when the outside subversive elements found we Indians can be invaded through these path,they are bringing in a new war management to divide us. Surprisingly, our politicians are succumbed to it and the real threat is for all Indians ; whether Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Sikh etc etc... or Sub divisions! A total imbalance in education system,administrative system,defence,culture,political and then the socity as a whole!!! And it is shame to understand that even some of the religious leaders and eminent social personalities are either keeeping mum and or fanning the fire! of hindu's ununited basic through the castism and reservation card. I feel that we were not divided by castism or were untochouble by way of birth. It was because of our way of work and behaviour/living concept. later years the defence and security of states deteriorated when Budhism and Jainism concept deep rooted with rulers and subjects that practiced by total non violance and giving up all possessions. If we can recall the contemporary practice of Jesus, it wiuld be fair enough to understand. When there was no masters to defend the state, obviously it has to go to the strengthy warrior! At last we ended up under the mighty and cruel rulers, need not name it. By this we Indians divded even on languages. Do not twist the eye brows pls.... Hindi, Urudu or other european languges being taught or forced to learn by us was only because of the rulers commercial necessity only and now the english is the main commercial language in globe, reason every one understand. The coming era cannt be that easy as winning over the world by weapon is not enough. One has to disturb and divide the society with hatredness and disbelief or suspection. And much is done to encourage it by our politicians and so called socialist or communist practices. Left are being done by the religious elements at our own expencess in the name of God! It would be really appreciable if I quote a sentence of Sri Amritananda Mayi "CHILDREN, DO NOT FIGHT OR DIE FOR THE BELOVED. LIVE FOR THEM!". So, my earnest say is let us reserve our help(not appeasement) for the real poor who are economically and nutriously backward. Once they are uplifted with no parity of colour religion or creed or such unwarranted slab system, Or if the sections of socity coming under economical and nutricious backwardness are in one platform, all the divisions and sub divisions are ONE and we can say there is no discrimination. If someone cry that thousends of years back your forefathers denied one's forefathers dignity, what sense is there if we are also doing the same foolishness at this century also? Tit for tat is not the civilised answer. Realisation of truth to live peacefully is the sole answer. SRI SRI like personalities will enrich our thinking and we can CRITICALLY analise before acting on it. Thank you readers. Please reply. Because I wish to learn from you too as none of my holy books or masters taught me to believe anything blindly and follow it without questioning its practicality. They all taught me that He gave me everything to understand Him so find time to concieve it. Then practice it for others to follow. But not by force or appeasement. A day will be there when your practice pays off to him also with out our obligation!!!!!! Now we have SRI SRI to tell us his experiences and he does not to be paid by us for this as he is paying off to us. Let us enjoy and be proud of Almighty's kindness in the form of SRI SRI.
