Hi Ajay,

Time people do a rethink on staying in Mumbai. The civic & transportation infrastructure have been stretched to the maximum. The planners as well as the Government officials have to look at developing satellite towns on the lines of Chandigarh on the outskirts.

You are right Subash, its time to reconsider staying in mumbai. Leave Rains aside, think of Mumbai Locals, Think of KURLA, DADAR and all other busy stations... Is it HUMAN to commute in these trains at peak hours at the cost of your life...!!

Once again the rains are here and the BMC and many other Municipal Corporation of India has not taken drastic steps to improve the life of the respective city. Its the people responsible for this present situation or the government as the citizens of India we Mumbaikar pay huge of Tax to the government and in return gets nothing At every election the MLA, MPs promise many things but the outcome is zero and the crores of rupees are wasted. To convert Mumbai into Sanghai will be a dream that will never be true if this present situation is not changed, Dont just make promise but implement them and make the life of Mumbaikars a comfortable one. At least provide Mumbaikars and the other citizens of india good roads if the government cannot provide good environment. It is citizen on which India banks on and not the ministers. So Mumbai Wake Up It is the People who will make a difference in the coming future and not the Ministers.

True!! we CANNOT blame the BMC all alone!!

It's US to be blamed.

When we look for new homes, we ask for swimming pools, clubs, community hall, Gym and what not, but how many of us check if rain water harvesting is in place???

The rains are normal!!! But, the way WE have structured ourselves is too bad and we can't even face these normal rains. I still remember the days of childhood when rains use to continue for 3-4 days together, but we never faced as much as we face today.

Think what we have done to the rain water???

Today it pours on to your roof tops, and RUNS to drainages!!! Where is place for MOTHER EARTH to take a SIP of it??? We our applying pathces to the face of Earth.

Having said that, Now what???

We should come up with a system, at ROOT level, which stores rain water.

If we start doing that, the SUDDEN WATER LOG can be controlled to a great extent.

Who will do that???

US!!! Every house will have to do that!!!

How long will we keep the rain water running away from us????

You would think it's a joke!! How'z that possible?

Remember the Squirrel story from Ramayana?? So, let's stand and say "I will do my part!!!"

That would be a great help to BMC and yes, to us.

Think!! ATB.

Long Live the BMC
by A G on Jun 30, 2007 10:43 AM  Permalink

Long live the BMC. We have the most irresponsible people in charge here, there is no accountability at all. Just excuses and shrugs of the shoulder. In bombay, if you complain, the officers either ignore it or defend their inaction. In other countries, if you complain, they act to solve the problem. Herein lies the root cause of the difference between our decaying cities and their thriving cities.
