I am reminded of the movie ' Catch me if you can' where the FBI finally utilises the services of the master fraudster in view of his experience and expertise.
By nominating Mrs. Pratibha Patil for the post of the President as its choice, it appears that the Congress is emulating the plot from the movie in real life.
Now time has come that election process for President of India should change.....if our fate is that only politician can elect then ....Before projecting the final condidates all political parties should ask for opion poll from public ( through election commission of India) ...only the candidate having got some minimum percentage should be allowed to be nominated by political parties as thier candidate
DEAR READERS AND TRUE PATRIOTS, INSPITE OF PUBLIC OPINION AND BACKING OF APJ KALAM, ITS THE POLITICIANS WHO ARE ABLE TO ELECT OUR FIRST CITIZEN.... AN AMENDMENT MUST BE MADE CONUSLTING ALL STATESMAN..IS THIS THE WAY WE GOVERN OURSELVES? Y DO THEY MAKE CONTRASTING STATEMENTS AGAINST OTHERS?

The concept of a peoples prez is rubbish.we have adopted a system by which the prez only CANNOT rule the country.this being a basic fundamental part of the constitution,CANNOT BE AMENDED.an entirely new constitution will have to be written to incorporate it.it would also mean that we r giving unlimited powers to a single person,(like Bush in the USA).. may look good when that person is Kalam, but with our other politicians it is fraught with immense danger..thankfully it is never going to happen!!.. Kalam accod: to many observers has not distinguished himself as an effective President..decisions made in undue haste like the prez rule in Bihar & Jharkand (Sup court referred to them as unconstitutional), the afsal guru mercy petition (No decision!!)stand out . there is no distinguising point in favour of his presidency than in his being a "people's prez"..like delivering inspirational speeches at educ: institutions which he can still do & for which he need not be the President of India!! Also remember that Kalam was not the 1st choice of the NDA in the 2002 elec..many other names (alexander, karan singh )were discussed & finally only the name of Kalam resulted in a consensus.so THIS IS NOTHING NEW!! also BJP categorically rejected a 2nd term for Narayanan. Popular vote for presidency means that people both urban & rural vote for a candidate..i very much doubt whether Kalam will pull through (this is not am sms or an internet poll where only a certain section of the society vote
Who is stupid? Politicians (because they wanna rule rashtapati bhavan also) or President (if he/she is going to rep political party which supports) or People (for tolerating all non-sense & sleeping)...
START A FRESH DEBATE ON THIS ISSUE: As per our consitution, these top posts, President and Vice President are the only posts where direct Indian's cannot elect its on candidates. Even after first 10 years of India's socalled democratic rules, we are adopting/negating basic constitutional rules for giving ministries to the elected members/electing members to various councils. For Lok Sabha, we are electing members directly and on the basis of the majority members, Govt. is formed. But for Rajya Sabha, is was not meant for age old poiliticans or failed politicans in Loka Sabha Elections, but it is meant for the greatest scholars/intellectauls from different walks of the country and the candidates are being elected from the State MLAs and MLCs. What happenes here in India is very much disturbing and Political Parties irrespective of the ruling or opposition are misleading Indian Public and not accepting the constituional norms. Looking into the same norms, the President and Vice President are elected by the elected Members and these two posts should be gone to unpolitical leaders. However, if at all, somebody needs political pundits/leaders, it should be made on CONCENSUS basis as people have no rights to elect them directly and as we are claiming as Democratic country, we should take always people's choice first. If present attitutde is being continued, then IT IS BETTER TO MAKE THESE ELECTIONS DIRECTLY FROM INDIAN PUBLIC AND every 5 years, Public elects their choice for these
Gandhi hails from Italy which in her ancient past excelled in democracy and as a great power. Actual power then was exericised in Rome in its early history by the leadershi of its great aristocratic families. Those who chose a political career had to be adopted by the commonors before they could run for office. The plebians though they enjoyed universal suffrage, were allowed only the choice to accept or deny a motion but never to propose.
The proud boast of Bharat has been that it is the largest successful democracy in the world. This has displayed an ignorance of what democracy actually means. Even though Bharat by finally honed electronic means produced the Gandhi Government, itt little understood that the hanging chads which cheated the Democrats of victory is an example of true democracy. There has been non of the complaints from America about the silver spoon born Bush's fitness to occupy the great office by Al Gore another aristocrat.
Bharat's democracy has showed that the people have not shown a fitness to exercise it and the politicians to lead. Gandhi has nothing of the nobility as the episode over the Presidency shows. I am afraid that Bharat needs to start with a new leader and a new constitution. That is going to be Bharat's greatest test. The ones we have are beyond repair. When the Supreme Court as the final bastion falls to Gandhi, you good readers may finally get the message.

Good message Mr. Patel. However, you cannot get any affirmative messages from Sahadevn like people, who as one has to feel, is a blind supporter of Communists. Even their organizations like SFI, DYFI, CITU, AIDWA like organizations are only in the name and not actually interested to follow communist theory in their GOD's own land. If you look into the whole organized structures present living condition and organized strengths, it is very pathetic and even not a single strike is getting success. Labor laws have dramatically changed; courts are taking actions against organized legal strikes in this country. There is no proper place at present for the safeguard of industraial workers and other organized factory workers, so what can we expect from other sectors where millions and millions of urorganized workers are working with meager living and paying conditions. Even though this party got mandate to rule two -three states, Kerala, West Bengal, Tripura, they could not make its as a most model state for overall developements. West Bengal had however got more than 30 years of Left Front rule, which was enough for the upliftment of downtrodden and they could have achieved maximum developments on all fronts, if they ruled their state in that communist manner.Present communist supporters and the active members are in utter confusion and they don't know where to go for a proper leadership and guidance.

Do not be afraid. You are not able to fight directly to these culprits.
But you can help them who fight these corrupted and communal flocks.
Work with SFI, DYFI, CITU, AIDWA like organisations, and bring your friends to them.
There is no LEFT MPs involved in Hawala, Cash for Query, Human Trafficking, corruption etc.
There is no criminals in LEFT MPs. They are very much keen above today's corruption and criminalism.

what i know of the left is they are bunch of hyprocrites, what they can do best is kill poor farmers and snatch thier land and give it to tatas and salems, CPM is good at land grabbing and aleivation of poverty for them is to kill all the poor farmers and employees, the red flag symbolises the bllod of the poor they have killed so far
The first question should be whether we really need such a position? What is the reason for this post?
As far as I know, this position is for a distinguished elder statesman who can command the respect of the politicians, people and the armed forces. Someone who can be a good leader and commander of the armed forces. Somemone who can make the youngster dream about the future of the country.
Last but not the least, this person should be an inspiration for the common man, someone who has the experience to advice the law-makers for the good of the country and its people.
Dr. Kalam has done a good if not an excellent job in this respect.
Unfortunately, this election has become a bargaining chip for many parties. I dont know much about Mrs. Patil and am pretty sure neither do many people. I feelt that she does not have the right resume for this position. But I do accept, that I might be wrong.
This whole tamasha is to foist a pliant individual who will sign on the dotted lines. Someone who can dance to their tunes. This is being done with an eye on the upcoming elections, which is likely to repeat what we saw in the earlier elections. Somehow these politicans remind me of vultures who are waiting for the left-overs of the kill!
