The President has to demit office. No rethinking at this stage please. It will definitely spoil his reputation and also his role and opportunity has done its job. This view does not support the candidature of Patil or Shekawat for that matter. I have already expressed my views i.e. call for some accomplished person either from the Govt. or Industry or Services to occupy this post.
It is shameful that Congress wants to foist some thrid-grade candidate onto us! We absolutely resent it and want Kalam! If Congress plays any dirty game, it will pay price for that.
This is the best opportunity for Mr Kalam to take over the country & rule till India bcomes a developed country & teach these educated & uneducated politicians a lesson...
it is the APJ Kalam who is THE ONLY DESERVING candidate for this post no one else. this is known even to the hell and heavens and i am sure even all the congress members will cross vote for him including the biggs , hence APJ Kalam must fight it out an just not wait for the consensus , otherwise how the evil will be defeated and how will the india progress?
the so called people's representatives who are not willing to vote Dr.Kalam as per the wishes of the people who they claim to represent should not forget that they have to come to us for votes in the not so distant future. especially the cong and left guys better remember this and exercise their vote as per their conscience.
Our present president must retire from his post gracefully because Mr Kalam the man is greater than Mr Kalam the President. Mr Kalam, his achievements, his vision and his long and successful journey from a humble and poor background to the President of India would serve a beacon and a model for all Indians to follow. Let not his last days be mired in controversy and muck. Mr Kalam should seek a place in the minds and hearts and in the shining pages of History rather than end as a footnote. We all wish him the very best as a glorious teacher that he has chosen to pursue. May God bless our President.

It's non-sense! It is no controvery in acknowledging wishes of large number of people and contesting Elections in a democracy! If you want to be ruled without elections, there are lots of countries run by Dictators - go and live there,

For once Indians could be proud to have a statesman of President Kalam's stature presenting India's dynamic front to the world. In this regard, shame upon the unscrupulous politicians who want to do away with his hallowed presence from the Presidential post.

President of India cannot declare war.
President of India cannot sanction single Rupee from central budget.
President of India cannot visit any country without sanction of government of india.
President of India cannot change the econonic, foreign, or defense policies of government of india
President of India HAS to speak whatever govermment of India says in his official speeches.
President of India cannot make any developmental plans because they depend on the mercy of the GOI.
President of India HAS to sign any bill that has been passed in the parliament even by baffoon politicians and MPs.
President of India cannot do anything on his own !
Kalam is a scientist and such a suffocating and frustrating post is the insult on his talents, his life, his sacrifice to this country.
He cannot change a thing sitting on THAT stupid post.

What people want ?
Imagine someone who is a hardworking, patriotic, and honest person who didnt even marry to serve his country all his life is made to serve STUPID , INCOMPETENT, AND SELFISH politicians and FORCED to do things that is beyond his conscience. How will he feel ?

Friend, I understand your point. But I must say you are missing some other things.
As a scintist he has done great job. And he can continue from the point where he left. But I do not think he becoming the president is waste. The amount of positive energy he brings in us when we see him as a president is unquestionable. For the first time in our lives we came to know that a president can be active and be a part of national development strategy. If he were just a scientist, people wouldn't have cared for his Vision2020. He travelled length and breadth of nation and met children as a president of India. This surely has helped young minds to see future as the one which belong to them. I don't think he could have done this by being a scientitst.
